  • Automatic fatigue crack length measuring system using DC electrical potential method and the system control program for automatic fatigue testing under random load condition were made in this study. And using these system and control program, fatigue tests were executed under constant and random load condition. As the result, the propagation of crack in random loading can be represented Paris equaiton and log normal probability function. But constant and random load test show different crack propagation properties.

  • In this paper, a detailed investigation of the random vibration test is presented for strapdown inertial navigation systems (INS). The effect of the random vibration test has been studied from the point of view of navigation performance. The role of distribution functions and RMS value is represented to determine a feasible method to reject or reduce vibration related error in position and velocity estimation in inertial navigation. According to a survey conducted by the authors, this is the first time that the effect of the distribution function in vibration related error has been investigated in random vibration testing of INS. Recorded data of navigation grade INS is used in offline static navigation to examine the effect of different characteristics of random vibration tests on navigation error.

  • In general vibration test considers both harmonic vibration and random vibration, When developing the vehicle component. But the effect of harmonic vibration is larger in the parts around the vehicle engine, sole testing the harmonic vibration is considered. In this study, the fatigue damage of the linear system fixed around the engine is analyzed when the effect of random vibration is higher, harsher than the normal road surface condition. In condition the vehicle speed and the engine RPM are similar, the higher the harshness of the road surface condition is, the larger the fatigue damage level is. Therefore both random vibration and harmonic vibration must be considered in vibration test of components around the engine. Proposing the sine on random(SOR) vibration test that can exam considering both of vibrations, harmonic and random.

  • In hypothesis testing, the interpretation of a statistic obtained from the data analysis relies on a probabilistic distribution of the statistic constructed according to several statistical theories. For instance, the statistical significance of a mean difference between experimental conditions is determined according to a probabilistic distribution of the mean differences (e.g., Student's t) constructed under several theoretical assumptions for population characteristics. The present study explored the logic and advantages of random-resampling approach for analyzing event-related potentials (ERPs) where a hypothesis is tested according to the distribution of empirical statistics that is constructed based on randomly resampled dataset of real measures rather than a theoretical distribution of the statistics. To motivate ERP researchers' understanding of the random-resampling approach, the present study further introduced a specific example of data analyses where a random-permutation procedure was applied according to the random-resampling principle, as well as discussing several cautions ahead of its practical application to ERP data analyses.

  • Cryptographic keys for security should be generated by true random number generators that apply irreversible hashing algorithms to initial values taken from a random source. As DRAM shows randomness in its access latency, it can be used as a random source. However, systems with synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) do not easily expose such randomness resulting in highly clustered random numbers. We resolved this problem by using the xor instruction. Statistical testing shows that the generated random bits have the quality comparable to true random bit sequences. The performance of bit generation is at the order of 100 Kbits/sec. Since the proposed random number generation requires neither external devices nor any special circuits, this method may be used in any computing device that employs DRAM.

  • We present a random bit generator that uses fingerprint image for the source of random, and random bit generator using fingerprint image for the randomness has not been presented as yet. Fingerprint image is affected by the operational environments including sensing act, nonuniform contact and inconsistent contact, and these operational environments make FPI to be used for the source of random possible. Our generator produces, on the average, 9,334 bits a fingerprint image in 0.03 second. We have used the NIST SDB14 test suite consisting of sixteen statistical tests for testing the randomness of the bit sequence generated by our generator, and as the result, the bit sequence passes all sixteen statistical tests.

  • Shannon entropy is one of the widely used randomness measures especially for cryptographic applications. However, the conventional entropy tests are less sensitive to the inter-bit dependency in random samples. In this paper, we propose new online randomness test schemes for true random number generators (TRNGs) based on the mutual information between consecutive ${\kappa}$-bit output blocks for testing of inter-bit dependency in random samples. By estimating the block entropies of distinct lengths at the same time, it is possible to measure the mutual information, which is closely related to the amount of the statistical dependency between two consecutive data blocks. In addition, we propose a new estimation method for entropies, which accumulates intermediate values of the number of frequencies. The proposed method can estimate entropy with less samples than Maurer-Coron type entropy test can. By numerical simulations, it is shown that the new proposed scheme can be used as a reliable online entropy estimator for TRNGs used by cryptographic modules.

  • In this study, data was augmentation through the SinGAN algorithm using small image data, and defects in rubber O-rings were detected using the random forest algorithm. Unlike the commonly used data augmentation image rotation method to solve the data imbalance problem, the data imbalance problem was solved by using the SinGAN algorithm. A study was conducted to distinguish between normal products and defective products of rubber o-ring by using the random forest algorithm. A total of 20,000 image date were divided into transit and testing datasets, and an accuracy result was obtained to distinguish 97.43% defects as a result of the test.

  • Jet Propulsion Laboratory has traditionally performed system level vibration testing of flight spacecraft. There have been many discussions in the aerospace community for more than a decade about spacecraft vibration testing benefits or lack thereof. The benefits and potential issues of fully assembled flight spacecraft vibration testing are discussed herein. The following specific topics are discussed: spacecraft screening test to uncover workmanship problems for launch dynamics environments, force- and moment-limited vibration testing, potential issues with structural frequency identification using base shake test data, and failures related to vibration shaker testing and ways to prevent them.

  • A new laser-based ultrasonic receiver that is based on multi-channel interferometry is shown to be well suited for robust and sensitive detection of ultrasound in industrial environment. The proposed architecture combines random-quadrature detection with detector arrays and parallel multi-speckle processing. The high sensitivity is reached, thanks to the random phase distribution of laser speckle caused by surface roughness. High-density parallel signal processing is achieved by using a simple demodulation technique based on signal rectification. This simple detection scheme is also demonstrated for rejection of the laser intensity noise, making possible the use of lower cost laser without reduction in performances. Results demonstrating this new principle of operation and its performances are presented.
