One of the main problems in Korea's public assistance program, the NBLS (National Basic Livelihood Security), is that the loophole of welfare system is continuously growing. Living wage program is the largest sub-program of the NBLS, and the most important determinant of amount of living wage for each beneficiary is the level of reported income. Therefore, accurate and effective income detection is essential in improving policy effects and furthermore reducing the leakage of wage expenditure as beneficiaries always have an incentive to underreport their income. Since most of them do not pay income tax, the welfare authority should exert an independent effort to effectively detect their income. Considering that living wage is a special kind of income tax of which marginal tax rate is -1, one can apply a classical theory of tax evasion to understand illegal or excessive receipt of living wage caused by income underreporting. Utilizing a classical theory given by Alingham and Sandmo (1972), this paper provides a theoretical analysis of the optimal income reporting of the beneficiary. Then an optimization problem is constructed from the government's viewpoint to derive optimal income detecting device (auditing). This paper proves that cut-off discriminated auditing outperforms random auditing and cut-off auditing which implies if the government assigns a positive audit probability to every reported income less than a certain level and the probability is inversely proportional to the level of reported income, it can minimize underreporting and then gradually reduce the leakage of wage expenditure.

The cloud storage service becomes a rising trend based on the cloud computing, which promotes the remote data integrity auditing a hot topic. Some research can audit the integrity and correctness of user data and solve the problem of user privacy leakage. However, these schemes cannot use fewer data blocks to achieve better auditing results. In this paper, we figure out that the random sampling used in most auditing schemes is not well apply to the problem of cloud service provider (CSP) deleting the data that users rarely use, and we adopt the probability proportionate to size sampling (PPS) to handle such situation. A new scheme named improving audit efficiency of remote data for cloud storage is designed. The proposed scheme supports the public auditing with fewer data blocks and constrains the server's malicious behavior to extend the auditing cycle. Compared with the relevant schemes, the experimental results show that the proposed scheme is more effective.

With delegating proxy to process data before outsourcing, data owners in restricted access could enjoy flexible and powerful cloud storage service for productivity, but still confront with data integrity breach. Identity-based data auditing as a critical technology, could address this security concern efficiently and eliminate complicated owners' public key certificates management issue. Recently, Yu et al. proposed an Identity-Based Public Auditing for Dynamic Outsourced Data with Proxy Processing (https://doi.org/10.3837/tiis.2017.10.019). It aims to offer identity-based, privacy-preserving and batch auditing for multiple owners' data on different clouds, while allowing proxy processing. In this article, we first demonstrate this scheme is insecure in the sense that malicious cloud could pass integrity auditing without original data. Additionally, clouds and owners are able to recover proxy's private key and thus impersonate it to forge tags for any data. Secondly, we propose an improved scheme with provable security in the random oracle model, to achieve desirable secure identity based privacy-preserving batch public auditing with proxy processing. Thirdly, based on theoretical analysis and performance simulation, our scheme shows better efficiency over existing identity-based auditing scheme with proxy processing on single owner and single cloud effort, which will benefit secure big data storage if extrapolating in real application.

Cloud storage becomes a new trend that more and more users move their data to cloud storage servers (CSSs). To ensure the security of cloud storage, many cloud auditing schemes are proposed to check the integrity of users' cloud data. However, most of them are based on public key infrastructure, which leads to complex certificates management and verification. Besides, most existing auditing schemes are inefficient when user uploads a large amount of data or a third party auditor (TPA) performs auditing for multiple users' data on different CSSs. To overcome these problems, in this paper, we propose an efficient and secure auditing scheme based on identity-based cryptography. To relieve user's computation burden, we introduce a proxy, which is delegated to generate and upload homomorphic verifiable tags for user. We extend our auditing scheme to support auditing for dynamic data operations. We further extend it to support batch auditing in multiple users and multiple CSSs setting, which is practical and efficient in large scale cloud storage system. Extensive security analysis shows that our scheme is provably secure in random oracle model. Performance analysis demonstrates that our scheme is highly efficient, especially reducing the computation cost of proxy and TPA.

This is a quantitative research, underpinned by the philosophy of natural science and deduction approach that examines the impact of the various aspects of corporate governance mechanism on the choice of capital structure of Vietnamese listed firms. We focus on the effect of factors such as the board size, the board independence, and especially different ownership structures, which include the managerial ownership, the state ownership, the concentrated ownership, and the foreign ownership. They are the main scopes of corporate governance and are supposed to be relevant to determine the corporate financing choice. To explain the causal relationship between factors, we construct the regression model and then test it by using different statistical method approaches, including the pooled OLS, the fixed effects model, and the random effects model. Data are collected from 336 firms with shares listed in the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange in Vietnam, totaling 1583 observations. Overall, the results reveal that the board size, state ownership, and concentrated ownership have positive impact on the firm's capital structure, whereas foreign ownership appears to have negative influence on the capital structure. The research does not find evidence of a the correlation between board independence, managerial ownership and corporate capital struture.

Cloud storage is becoming more and more popular because of its elasticity and pay-as-you-go storage service manner. In some cloud storage scenarios, the data that are stored in the cloud may be shared by a group of users. To verify the integrity of cloud data in this kind of applications, many auditing schemes for shared cloud data have been proposed. However, all of these schemes do not consider the access authorization problem for users, which makes the revoked users still able to access the shared cloud data belonging to the group. In order to deal with this problem, we propose a novel public auditing scheme for shared cloud data in this paper. Different from previous work, in our scheme, the user in a group cannot any longer access the shared cloud data belonging to this group once this user is revoked. In addition, we propose a new random masking technique to make our scheme preserve both data privacy and identity privacy. Furthermore, our scheme supports to enroll a new user in a group and revoke an old user from a group. We analyze the security of the proposed scheme and justify its performance by concrete implementations.

This paper aims to explore the relationship between the quality of the audit and the level of stock return co-movement in the context of the Vietnamese emerging market. The empirical study is designed based on the quatitative method and deductive approach. The panel dataset includes 256 listed firms from different industries, with 1115 firm-year observations on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange for the period from 2014 to 2018. In the research, we built the econometric regression model, using stock return synchronicity and audit quality as the dependent and independent variable, respectively. Some control variables are also added to the econometric regression models as they are well-documented in prior research to have an effect on stock price synchronicity. To improve the accuracy of the regression coefficients, beside the Ordinary Least Squares, we employ the Random Effects Model and the Fixed Effects Model for better statistical analysis of panel data set. The results show that the quality of the audit is positively correlated to stock price synchronicity. This finding suggests that stock returns of companies with higher quality of the audit are more synchronous with the market. Results for other control variables also support our reasoning for the main findings.

The goal of this study was to see how big data analytics (BDA) affected external audit procedures in the Middle East. The measurement model and structural model of this investigation were evaluated using PLS-SEM (3.3.3). The study sample members were (361) auditors who work in auditing companies in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, and Iraq. A questionnaire was chosen to the study sample members electronically, and the study sample members were (5093) auditors who work in auditing companies in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, and Iraq. To choose the sample, the researchers used a stratified random sampling procedure. The findings show that BDA has an impact on audit procedures at all phases of the auditing process, where it contributes to information delivery that helps auditors understand the client's internal and external environments, which in turn influences the choice to accept the audit assignment. Furthermore, by providing essential information, BDA enables auditors to simply run analytical procedures, estimate client risks, and understand and evaluate the internal control system. As a result, auditors must develop their abilities in the BDA field, as it adds to the creation of additional value for both auditors and their clients.

The human and capital resources from foreign investors are important sources of finance for developing countries. Foreign ownership can help the firm to raise funds for operations and the foreign management can help the firm expand the market and improve management. However, does this really happen to Vietnamese firm? To find the answer to that question, this paper examines the impact of foreign ownership and management on the financial performance of listed firms on Vietnam's stock market. The data collected include 427 listed firms in all fields over five years, from 2014 to 2018. The financial performance is measured by Tobin's Q, ROA and ROE. The study carried out testing of each model by the least squares method of Pool OLS, assessing random effects (REM) and evaluating fixed effects (FEM). The most effective model is the FEM model. The results show that the foreign ownership ratio and the size of the firm have a positive impact on the financial performance. The foreign management, the age of the firms, the liquidity and financial leverage have a negative impact on the financial performance. Based on the research results, the study proposes some recommendations to improve the financial performance of listed firms in Vietnam.

This article aims to measure the impact of economic growth and urbanization on poverty reduction in Vietnam, and verify whether economic growth and urbanization will help reduce poverty rates. Data for this study are tabular data related to growth, urbanization and poverty at the provincial level for the period of nine years, from 2006 to 2014 provided by the Vietnam General Statistics Office and the Vietnam General Department of Customs. The level of economic growth and urbanization mentioned in the study is reflected in such indicators as GDP value, exports value, imports value, urbanization rate and employment rate. The authors used logistic regression models with fixed-effects and logistic regression models with random effects. With 5% confidence level tested by the Chi-Square test of Hausman trial with the fixed-effect model, research results show that: (1) factors with significant negative impact on the poverty rate include imports value, urbanization rate and, employment rate; (2) factors that do not affect the poverty rate include exports value and GDP value. Based on the research results, this study proposes a number of policy recommendations to help promote economic growth, to sustain the urbanization process, and to contribute directly and positively to poverty reduction in Vietnam.
