Germanium (Ge) with higher carrier mobility and a lower crystallization temperature has been considered as the channel material of thin-film transistors for display applications. Various methods were studied for crystallizaion of poly-Ge from amorphous Ge at low temperature. Especially Metal induced crystalliazation (MIC) process was widely studied because low process cost. In this paper, we investigate copper diffusion process of different thick (70 nm, 350 nm) poly-Ge film obtained by MIC process at various temperatures (250, 300, and $350^{\circ}C$) through atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman spectroscopy, and secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) measurement. Crystallization completeness and grain size was similar in all the conditions. Copper diffusion profile of 370 nm poly-Ge film show simirly results regardless of process temperature. However, copper diffusion profile of 70 nm poly-Ge film show different results by process temperature.
Both lead molybdate ($PbMoO_4$) and chromium substituted lead molybdate ($PbMo_{1-x}Cr_xO_4$) were successfully synthesized using a conventional hydrothermal method and characterized by XRD, DRS, Raman, SEM and PL. We also investigated the photocatalytic activity of these materials for the decomposition of rhodamine B under UV-visible irradiation. The XRD and Raman results revealed the successful synthesis of well-crystallized $PbMoO_4$ crystals with the diameter of 51-59 nm, regardless of the addition of chromium ion. The DRS spectra of $PbMo_{1-x}Cr_xO_4$ catalysts showed new intensive absorption bands in the visible region. The $PbMoO_4$ catalysts showed the lowest photocatalytic activity and the activity increased with an increase of chromium substitution amounts under visible irradiation. PL peaks appeared at about 540-580 nm for all catalysts and excitonic PL signals were proportional to the photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of rhodamine B.
The fiber Raman amplifier(FRA) is a distinctly advantageous technology. Due to its wider, flexible gain bandwidth, and intrinsically lower noise characteristics, FRA has become an indispensable technology of today. Various FRA modeling methods, with different levels of convergence speed and accuracy, have been proposed in order to gain valuable insights for the FRA dynamics and optimum design before real implementation. Still, all these approaches share the common platform of coupled ordinary differential equations(ODE) for the Raman equation set that must be solved along the long length of fiber propagation axis. The ODE platform has classically set the bar for achievable convergence speed, resulting exhaustive calculation efforts. In this work, we propose an alternative, highly efficient framework for FRA analysis. In treating the Raman gain as the perturbation factor in an adiabatic process, we achieved implementation of the algorithm by deriving a recursive relation for the integrals of power inside fiber with the effective length and by constructing a matrix formalism for the solution of the given FRA problem. Finally, by adiabatically turning on the Raman process in the fiber as increasing the order of iterations, the FRA solution can be obtained along the iteration axis for the whole length of fiber rather than along the fiber propagation axis, enabling faster convergence speed, at the equivalent accuracy achievable with the methods based on coupled ODEs. Performance comparison in all co-, counter-, bi-directionally pumped multi-channel FRA shows more than 102 times faster with the convergence speed of the Average power method at the same level of accuracy(relative deviation < 0.03dB).

This report covers an effective fabrication method of graphene nanoribbon for top-gated field effect transistors (FETs) utilizing electron beam lithography with a bi-layer resists (XR-1541/poly methtyl methacrylate) process. To improve the variation of the gating properties of FETs, the residues of an e beam resist on the graphene channel are successfully taken off through the combination of reactive ion etching and a lift-off process for the XR-1541 bi-layer. In order to identify the presence of graphene structures, atomic force microscopy measurement and Raman spectrum analysis are performed. We believe that the lift-off process with bi-layer resists could be a good solution to increase gate dielectric properties toward the high quality of graphene FETs.

Biodiesel produced using microorganisms, which are recognized as the third-generation biomass, is among the various known renewable energy sources that can replace fossil fuels used in conventional transportation. Scenedesmus obliquus has been identified as an excellent species for biodiesel production, as it grows faster and can accumulate up to 40-50 percent of the dry cell weight. Enhancing production using S. obliquus requires measuring the cell mass for controlling the cultivation process. In the current study, S. obliquus was cultured for 75 days, and growth changes of the microalgae were measured by absorbance, microscopic imaging, and Raman spectroscopy. Between days 60 to 75 of culture, the change in absorbance was observed to be less than 3%, whereas the number of microalgae observed microscopically was more than three times higher. Moreover, the Raman spectroscopy results showed three strong peak values of β-carotene at 997 cm-1, 1148 cm-1, and 1515 cm-1, with peak values of β-carotene showing greater than 3-fold increase during the culture period. Therefore, we predict that application of Raman spectroscopy will help in identifying the growth elements and growth degree in microalgae culture during increased biomass production.
The removal of two dyes, namely Methylene Blue (MB) and Reactive Brillant Red (RR) from aqueous solution was investigated using magnetite iron coated pumice (MIP) composite in the Fenton-like oxidation process. A weight ratio of 2.5 g (with the molar ratio of Fe3+ to Fe2+ to be 2) (5%) of iron to the total pumice (50 g) was enabled during synthesis of catalyst. Surface composition and characteristics of the catalyst were assessed by SEM-EDX, FT-IR, Raman spectral analysis. The effect of the amount of pumice solely used or MIP, H2O2 concentration, pH and initial concentration of MB or RR dyes on Fenton-like process efficiency was investigated. EDAX spectrums of pumice and MIP showed that oxygen and silisium are the major elements. The Fe content of MIP increased to 2.24%. SEM, FT-IR and Raman spectrums confirmed the impregnation of Fe on pumice surface. The experimental results revealed that high removal rates of dyes could be obtained using MIP that demonstrated a higher stability for removal of MB dye. pH affected the removal efficiency of both dyes and the degradation of both dyes was sharply dropped when pH was increased above 4. The removal of dyes did not significantly change with increasing H2O2 concentration. Degradation rates of both MB and RR dyes increased 3.3 and 2.8 times with the use of MIP compared to pumice alone, respectively. Furthermore, MIP enabled a good removal efficiency at higher dye concentrations. It can be emphasized that MIP composite can be used in the heterogeneous Fenton-like systems considering the economic and easily separation aspects.
Tetrahedral amorphous carbon(ta-C) films were deposited by the filtered vacuum arc(FVA) process. The FVA process has many advantages such as high ionization ratio and the ion energy, which is suitable for dense amorphous carbon film deposition. However, the energy of the carbon ion cannot be readily controlled by manipulating the arc source parameters. In order to control the film properties in wide range, we investigated the dependence of the film properties on the substrate bias voltage. The mechanical properties and the density of the film exhibit the maximum values at about -100 V of the bias voltage. The maximum values of hardness and density were respectively 54$\pm$3 GPa and 3.6$\pm$0.4 g/㎤, which are 3 to 5 times higher than those of the films deposited by RF PACVD or ion beam process. The details of the atomic bond structure were analysed by Raman and NEXAFS spectroscopy. The change in the film properties for various bias voltages could be understood in the view of the $sp^2$ and $sp^3$ bond fraction in the deposited films.

Graphene oxide powders prepared by two different drying processes, freeze drying and spray drying, were studied to compare the effect of the drying method on the physical properties of graphene oxide powder. The graphene oxide dispersion was prepared from graphite by chemical delamination with the aid of sulfuric acid and permanganic acid, and the dispersion was further washed and re-dispersed in a mixed solvent of water and isopropyl alcohol. A freeze drying method can feasibly minimize damage to the sample, but it requires a long process time. In contrast, spray drying is able to remove a solvent in a relatively short time, though this process requires exposure to a high temperature for a rapid evaporation of the solvent. The powders prepared by freeze drying and spray drying were characterized and compared by Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and by an elemental analysis. The graphene oxide powders showed similar chemical compositions; however, the morphologies of the powders differed in that the graphene oxide prepared by spray drying had a winkled morphology and a higher apparent density compared to the powder prepared by freeze drying. The graphene oxide powders were reduced at $900^{\circ}C$ in an atmosphere of $N_2$. The effect of the drying process on the properties of the reduced graphene oxide was examined by SEM, TEM and Raman spectroscopy.

ZnO has attracted much attention such as photocatalysts, sensors, piezoelectricity and etc. At present, an economical and rapid synthesis route based on the efficient microwave polyol process is used to synthesized metal-doped ZnO nanoclusters. Diethylene glycol has a property of high polarizability, and is an excellent microwave absorbing agent, thus leading to a high heating rate and a significantly shorter reaction time. In this study, metal-doped ZnO nanoclusters are obtained with different seed volumes, when zinc acetate dihydrate is used as a precursor, and metal acetate hydrate is used as a doped-metal and diethylene glycol is used as a solvent. The obtained metal-doped ZnO nanoclusters were characterized by FE-SEM, XRD, Raman and PSA.

To grow the diamond films by using RF-MW two step process, at first, diamond seeds were deposited on silicon substrate by RF plasma CVD, and then a diamond layer grown by MW plasma CVD on the seeds. The grain-size of diamond films deposited by using RF-MW two step process was smaller and denser and also, crystallity of diamond film was better than those of the MW plasma CVD process. The deposited diamond films were analyzed by SEM(scanning electron microscophy), XRD (x-ray diffraction), and Raman spectroscopy.
