On the development of Intelligent Railway Logistics Terminal (수송력 향상을 위한 지능형 철도물류터미널 구축방안)

  • The government have plans to improve the railway transport capacity and transport hub for the sustainable national transport and logistics system. Specially, there are much efforts to improve transportation capacity such as high speed transportation of rail freight, enlargement of BT train, development of double stack train, etc. between railway transport hubs. If the transport capacity between railway logistics hubs is increased as planned, we must increase the handling capacity of railway hub terminals. But there are limits to enlarge the terminal infrastructure because of investment scale, location circumstances and urban development plans. To ensure the capacity, with the minimum required enlargement of infrastructure, it is necessary to extremely increase the efficiency of terminal operations. For improving the efficiency, we have to introduce the efficient terminal operation systems based on u-IT and operation optimize technologies. In this paper, we analyse the issues and problems of railway terminals(including ICD) and suggest the concept of intelligent railway terminal and the construction components of technology.

  • Safety is an essential requirement for public transportation, especially for railway. Railway are more safety than other means of transportation, but railway accident that is mass transportation result catastrophic result if an accident occurred. Railway operators and government are many prior efforts to prevent accident, but it is impossible to eliminate accidents. Therefore, various measures to reduce accidents as possible, and they have taken, this paper will review incident report system and safety culture which are most important factors for preventing accident. In addition, incident reporting system and an independent accident investigation and accident prevention and safety systems would be needed to improve train operating companies and related agencies for the safety of the railway is a cultural ritual. Indeed, the settlement of avalid railway safety culture will most certainly prevent railway accidents. Therefore, in the railway company and the correct understanding of railway safety culture and against the settlement plan would be reviewed in this paper.

  • The present transportation system is avoiding the competitive relationship between each transportation system and it is urgently needed the cooperative relationship between transportation system. The passengers using the various mass transportation is requiring a multimodal environment. Particularly now is the period when railroad system is considering intermodal environment. In this paper, concerning the above matters, we are dealing with intermodal at chapter2, and study cases of japan and europe at chapter 3, and at chapter 4 we are dealing with intermodal environment preparing considerations of railway system. Concerning about the approach of intermodal transportation, we are adopting the software-oriented method of using information technique and communication technique.

  • Recently, the Korean government is considering a policy of adopting competition in railway transportation, such as the establishment of a subsidiary company to Korail as a company to operate a part of the KTX line, the separation of deficit-running lines of local railways and the opening of railway transportation to private operators. The termination of local railway service, which is a major provider of public transportation, will not only deprive the public of a means of transportation but also lead to a decline in the quality of public transit in general. The termination of local railway service is being decisively affected by the national railway policy. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify local railway policy in Japan by studying the development and philosophy of the local railway policy of the Japanese National Railway (JNR).

  • The change of the transportation circumstance related to the deep environmental pollution, escalation of the energy price, increasing social cost of the congestion and traffic accident, improving a income level, advanced social structure etc, is rapidly proceeded. For the corresponding this transportation circumstance, the role of the railway is being increased and that is friendly with environment, efficient for the energy, observed the time schedule and the transportation device which is high speed and safe mass transportation. In addition, government's R&D investment is being increased according to deeping a strength of the international competitiveness through the technical innovation. So railway's R&D investment is being increased. Accordingly, This study suggest improving a fruit of the R&D related to railway R&D system for a efficient R&D investment.

  • Railroad started from invention of stream locomotive at the beginning of the industrial revolution. Development of diesel and electric locomotives in railroad induced science and technology since the industrial revolution. Korean high-speed train so-called high-speed train project, is localized 86.7%(compared to price), 92%(compared to number of parts). This technology has been contributed to KTX since 2004. High-speed railway was developed to integrated system, which is contained high technology such as civil, mechanical and electrical technology. This effects to advanced technology across the board science, technology, industry. High-speed railway is fast, safe, comfortable, eco-friendly as next generation's representative transportation. Furthermore it is inaugurate the era of the new railroad. Korea is opened the high-speed railway following Japan, France, Germany, Spain. Korea became the fifth nation of the high-speed railway. It joins the rank of developed countries operating at the speed of 300km/h. Especially, KTX is emerging as advanced transportation with reducing logistics costs significantly due to time advantage and transportation revolution. The purpose of this study is to present the strategy through internal and external railway market's analysis for Korea railway system's globalization expansion(overseas expansion).

  • The logistics industry is changing with the diversification of demand and related technology development. Thus, the transportation system is also changing to social problems and environmental damage, and the importance of rail freight is increasing with changes in the international logistics environment. This study analyzes railway freight competition structure using freight volume and suggests improving the competitiveness of railroad freight. To achieve the research purpose, this study was conducted using the Hirshmann-Herfindahl Index(HHI) and Location Quotients(LQ) method. As a result, the concentration trend of railway trends has increased from 0.213 to 0.238 during the last 9 years, and LQ analysis has enabled the identification of local competition lines by item. The study result confirmed that policy measures on railway freight system, railway infrastructure construction and railway operation are necessary to enhance railway competitiveness.

  • Fuel cell power generation system, unlike conventional energy sources, converts chemical energy into electrical energy through electrochemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen. This paper presents the control of interleaved multi-phase boost converter as the feasibility study on small-scale prototype electric railway vehicle application using fuel cell generation system. PSIM simulation program is to be used to implement the modeling of the electrical fuelcell as well as traction motor control with interleaved multi-phase boost converter. Comparing the input current ripple rate, two-phase interleaved boost converter is less than the boost converter. But the more multi-phase not less proportional to the ripple factor. we confirmed that the amplitude of the input current ripple rate of converter depend on duty ratio.

  • The construction of the transportation history database system is to serve the scheduling and seat inventory controling. Recently, lots of countries have been faced with the advance era because of the new railway transportation system, like the high speed railway and/or magnetic levitation vehicle system. This can be reasonably translated as those of operators are willing to provide the more various and high quality schedule to the customer. Those operators' these ideas make possible to forecast that scheduling process is going to be complicated more and more The seat inventory control, so to speak Yield Management System(YMS), goes a long way to improve the total passenger revenue at the railway business. The YMS forecasts the number of the last reservation value(DCP# END) and recommends the optimal values on the seat sales. The history database system contains infra-data(ie, train, seat, sales) that will be the foundation of scheduling and seat inventory control application programs. The development of the application programs are reserved to the next step. The database system is installed on the pc platform(IBM compatible), using the DB2(RDBMS). And at next step, the platform and DBMS will be considered whether they can meet the users' requirement or not.

Dynamic response of railway vehicles under unsteady aerodynamic forces caused by local landforms

  • When a railway vehicle runs in crosswinds, the unsteady aerodynamic forces acting on the train induced by the vehicle speed, crosswind velocity and local landforms are a common problem. To investigate the dynamic performance of a railway vehicle due to the influence of unsteady aerodynamic forces caused by local landforms, a vehicle aerodynamic model and vehicle dynamic model were established. Then, a wind-loaded vehicle system model was presented and validated. Based on the wind-loaded vehicle system model, the dynamic response performance of the vehicle, including safety indexes and vibration characteristics, was examined in detail. Finally, the effects of the crosswind velocity and vehicle speed on the dynamic response performance of the vehicle system were analyzed and compared.
