  • Recently, railway has been pointed to the efficiency of transportation, rapid transit, and comfortable train ride. In the case of domestic situation, both rapid transit railway and existing railway have been operated in higher speed and the construction of railway near the city building has been increased as well. Because of the rapid transit system and heavy railway, the noise and vibration of railway has been increased so that the strong standards in terms of environmental matter should be required. Therefore, the solution to avoid environmental matters becomes one of the most important factor in constructing railway. In this study, floating slab system which is one of the solution to avoid noise and vibration in railway has been introduced, and the foreign technology and the trend of this business has been investigated. In addition, the method of conceptual design and construction of floating slab system according to the isolator has been introduced.

Performance Characteristics of Louver Dust Collectors (루버 집진기의 성능특성)

  • A large amount of wear dust generated during train operation is a major dust source in urban railway tunnels. To check possibility of a louver dust collector for the removal of dust in the railway tunnel, five louver dust collector models were designed and their performance was tested in a wind tunnel. JIS Z 8901 Class 8 dust was used as a test dust. Pressure drop and particle collection efficiency were evaluated with the face velocity ranging from 1 m/s to 4 m/s. At this low velocity range, particle collection efficiency of the louver dust collector was found to be insensitive to air velocity and design parameters. Pressure drop was under 40 Pa, and $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ collection efficiencies were approximately 50% and 30%, respectively.

  • A lot of researches on a linear induction motor(LIM) have been advanced to realize a traction system with high efficiency and performance for railway transit for a long time. However, most of them are limited in design of a LIM part such as Primary and Secondary. At a LIM which is traveling, the change of an air-gap(It occurs by a construction tolerance of a secondary reaction plate) becomes the cause which decreases a smoother ride and the efficiency of railway transit system. Therefore, uniform air-gap operation of LIM is important issue to improve the system efficiency. However, the researches which control the air-gap length of the LIM with technical and high-cost problem have been not advanced a lot. Therefore, in this research, it is introduced an air-gap control system for performance test machine of a scale-downed LIM which is able to control the air-gap length of the LIM and monitor a variety of performance changes of the propulsion system, and conducted a research on feasibility of the system based on characteristic analysis.

  • In order to shorten head-way time on existing railway lines without any change of signal block length between stations, it is a realistic optional way to change the control method of train signal, i.e. to modernize the cab signal using transponder. A new signalling system of operation pattern control technique is suggested as new model to increase the railway traffic efficiency. Through the computer simulation of this model, the train head-way time by the fixed signalling system and the new pattern control system is analyzed.

  • It is very important to delivery timely and safely items in logistics. So, the home delivery service system is introduced by many enterprises. Also, the beginning in 1990's, the rapid increase of automobile increased logistics cost and led to road stagnation. So, the railway transportation use in logistics can be considered. The railway transportation in home delivery service system can overcome the limit of transportation by land. This study evaluate railway transportation in home delivery service system by economical efficiency and timeliness.

  • Design sensitivity analysis of a mechanical system is an essential tool for design optimization and trade-off studies. This paper presents an efficient algorithm for the design sensitivity analysis of railway vehicle systems, using the direct differentiation method. The cartesian coordinate is employed as the generalized coordinate. The governing equations of the design sensitivity analysis are formulated as the differential equations. Design sensitivity analysis of railway vehicle systems is performed to show the validity and efficiency of the proposed method.

  • Vehicle braking in non-electrified rail systems wastes energy. Advanced flywheel technology presents a way to capture and reuse this braking energy to improve vehicle efficiency and so reduce the operating costs and environmental impact of diesel trains. This paper highlights the suitability of flywheels for rail vehicle applications, and proposes a novel mechanical transmission system to apply regenerative braking using a flywheel energy storage device. A computational model is used to illustrate the operation and potential benefits of the energy storage system.

  • Railway stations are important facilities for transport of passengers and freights. The location of station have an effect on the efficiency of railway transport and operation. In this study, an inspection of the primary factors for station spacing in urban railway has been performed and a review for the propriety of the present states and further improvement has been carried. It may be helpful for proper decisions on the route planning in urban railway. Primary factors for station spacing are 1)train capacity, 2)competitiveness with other transportation, 3)accessibility and 4)construction cost, which is out of consideration in the inspection. From the result of this study, the proper station spacing is about 600m for the accessibility, more over 1.03km for the train capacity and more over 1.4km for the competitiveness with other transportation.

  • With rapidly industrial development, a railway has become of a main traffic means. But, the railway noise has caused much annoyance for the residents living nearby railway tracks. Therefore, in our country, for established of quite dwelling environment. execute regulation standard of railway noise from January 1. 2000. Efficiency soundproofing measures, however, are very difficult because of the lack of basic data and insufficiency of the existing research. In this point. this study attempts to survey the vertical sound pressure level of railway noise in by existence of noise harrier And this study intends to get the basic data for establishment of a efficient noise barrier about railway noise.

  • The system improves the safety and efficiency of railway transport, combining the advanced axle-counter with single-track semiautomatic block. Using computer, to accomplish relay-based semiautomatic block logic operation and axle-counter to check section status, it will further increase the performance of railway transport. Safety-related communication is one of the important topics in railway signal system. By referring to relevant safety-related communication standards, to research on safety-related communication of Micro-computer automatic block between Railway Stations System, the thesis introduces the basic requirements, concept model, codes, and the process, etc.
