  • A representation technique of a given track topology is required by many software applications in railway technology such as signalling system simulator. To achieve these, the concept of double vertex graph architecture is proposed. These are composed of pairs of vertices and node between the single vertices. Double vertex graph architecture can be understood as a extension of classical graphs. In developed railway signalling simulation software, it is shown that track topology can be represented by proposed algorithm in a efficient way. Especially it makes sure that these are suitable technique for representing and implementing of switch, routes which can be introduced some mistake in classical graph algorithm.

  • The method of maintenance in railway is going to be changed to improve reliability on traction equipment. Partial discharge (PD) tests are useful to evaluate the insulation condition of stator winding. This paper describes the use of PD tests with 5 model coils which have the defects such as internal, slot discharge. The PD tests are performed with epoxy-mica coupler 500 pF at various AC voltages. The result of test shows PD pattern can correlate with the species of defects on 5 model coils.

  • According to the computerization of railway signalling systems, the safety demonstration and assessment of railway signalling system is very important. For this reason, railway signalling systems reflect the needs of methodology to assessment the safety. Then many studies of safety assessment methodology for railway signalling systems centering on the Europe, have been made continuously, and the requirements for safety acceptance are currently standardized by IEC. To develop and establish the safety assessment technology for railway signalling system in Korea, we are reviews the safety assessment activities for signalling system through the reviews of related std., case study and consulting by experts.

A Study on DC-DC Converter Development for LRT Wireless Power Supply

  • In this paper, we have proposed the development of DC-DC converter for LRT power supply. First of all, we have studied converter technology, main functions and characteristics were determined. In also, the converter design was carried out to meet the system design conditions. Based on this design, converter simulation is performed to enable stable charging and discharging of the vehicle system. We have performed the Light-load test according to charge mode, discharge mode. As a result, the manufactured converter performance was verified through the load test, and it's stability was confirmed.

  • The infrastructure of North Korea has serious problems such as stability, usability, and durability because the facilities were built a long time ago. In recent years, the infrastructure improvement of North Korea has emerged as the important issue to preparing for reunification. However, there are no research institutions about the infrastructure in South Korea as well as the experts for operating or constructing the infrastructure. Therefore, the objective of this study is to propose the military use of infrastructure in North Korea by analyzing various data. The facilities such as road, railroad and electricity has been focused in this study. In the future, if the more specific data regarding condition and problems in each facility are collected, the more detailed military use of the infrastructure of North Korea can be suggested.

토양세정 기술을 활용한 윤활유와 아연 복합오염 철도토양의 정화 연구 (Feasibility Study on Soil Flushing for Railway Soil Contaminated with Lubricant Oil and Zinc)

  • The feasibility study of soil flushing was investigated to remediate lubricant oil and zinc contaminated railway soil. In this study, mixed washing agents of surfactant and inorganic acid/base were used for the simultaneous removal. The mixed washing agent of non-ionic surfactant and HCl removed 15% of the lubricant oil and 40% of zinc, respectively. Alkaline-enhanced soil washing process increased the removal of lubricant oil up to 40%. This is because alkaline solution reduced the interfacial tension between water phase and lubricant oil phase due to the soap formation reaction. To simulate in-situ soil flushing for the remediation of railroad-related contamination, two dimensional soil flushing was carried out based on the results of batch soil washing. In the soil flushing, the removal efficiencies of lubricant oil and zinc were 34% and 16%, respectively. Even though the removal efficiency was low, the mixed washing agent can remove metal and lubricant oil simultaneously.

Mg Alloy(AZ61) 마찰교반용접 조건에 따른 용접부의 온도와 기계적 특성변화 (Temperature and Mechanical Properties of Welded Joints Under Friction Stir Welding Conditions of Mg Alloy (AZ61))

  • Friction stir welding was performed using six welding conditions to evaluate the mechanical properties and microstructure of the welded zone based on its temperature change in the extruded plate of magnesium alloy AZ61. The welded zone temperature was measured using a thermocouple, and the maximum temperature ranges for the advancing and retreating sides were approximately $210-315^{\circ}C$ and $254-339^{\circ}C$, respectively. Depending on the welding conditions, a temperature difference of more than $100^{\circ}C$ was observed. In addition, the maximum yield strength and maximum tensile strength of the welded component was 84.4% and 96.9%, respectively, of those of the base material. For the temperatures exceeding $300^{\circ}C$, oxidation defects occurred in the weld zone, which decreased the mechanical strength of the weld zone. The microstructure and texture confirmed that fracture occurred because of the grain size deviation of the welding tool and the severe anisotropy of the texture of the welded joints.

  • 본 연구에서는 복합소재 전동차용 대차프레임에 적용되는 4매 주자직 유리섬유/에폭시 복합소재에 대한 고유진동 특성과 주파수에 따른 감쇠특성을 평가하였다. 이를 위해 오토클레이브 성형을 통해 길이와 두께가 다른 유리섬유/에폭시 빔 시편을 제작하였다. 시험결과 감쇠비의 최대값은 최소 고유진동수에서 발생하였다. 또한, 주파수가 증가함에 따라감쇠비는 지수 함수적으로 임계치까지 감소하였다. 이후에는 주파수에 따라 증가하는 경향을 보였다.

  • The overall goal of a safety based railroad system is either to eliminate hazards in designing or to minimize the possibility of it. In order to indicate system safety or low risk although it may not be possible to achieve zero risk conditions, first, it shall ensure that any disasters would occur due to system operation because the prescribed specifications are properly fulfilled and there are no failures of any kind. Second, the risk of faults or failures leading to a mishap must be eliminated or minimized by using fault-tolerance or fail-safe procedures. This paper will attempt to summarize the personal and social risk criterion at widely scattered points, presently used as a safety approach in all over EU, in order to establish the step by step procedures of the detailed standard for railway facilities. In addition, we present the new safety analysis method using the SIL-based evaluation standard and the Reachability Graph of the Petri Net.

전동차 인버터 구동용 전해콘덴서의 신뢰도예측과 수명 연구 (A Study on the Reliability Prediction and Lifetime of the Electrolytic Condenser for EMU Inverter)

  • Inverter module, which feeds the converted power to the traction motor for EMU. Consists of the power semiconductors with their gate drive unit(GDU)s and the control computer for driving, voltage, current and speed controls. Electrolytic condenser, connected to the gate drive unit and a core component to drive the power semiconductor, has problems such as reduction in lifetime and malfunction caused by electrical and mechanical characteristic changes from heat generation during high speed switching for generation of stable power. In this study, To check the service life of electrolytic condenser, the test was carried out in two ways. First, In the case of accelerated life testing of condenser, the Arrhenius model is a way of life testing. Another way is to analyze the reliability of the failure data by the method of parametric data analysis. Eventually, life time by accelerated life test than a method of failure data analysis(Weibull distribution) was found to be slightly larger output.
