A Study on Railroad Vehicle Lighting Environment (철도차량 조명 환경 연구)

  • This paper investigates the lighting environment of railway system which are mainly used in KTX, Saemaul and Mugunghwa. When lighting used in KTX such as fluorescent lamp and incandescence is being replaced with LED lamp, illumination load of each railroad vehicle has been compared. The comparison result shows that the reduction of power consumption is 43.34% before and after the change. Also it has been performed the economic evaluation.

  • The present work is concerned with three-dimensional finite element analysis of the hollow section extrusion process using a porthole die. For economic computation, mismatching refinement, an efficient domain decomposition method with different mesh density for each subdomain, is implemented. The proposed method improves the computational efficiency significantly, especially fur the three-dimensional analysis of extrusion problems. As a numerical example, extrusion of the underframe part of a railroad vehicle are analyzed. For three-dimensional mesh generation of a complicated shape with hexahedral elements, a modified grid-based approach with the surface element layer is utilized. The analysis results are then successfully reflected on the industrial porthole die design.

  • In Korea, new total energy-saving solution has planned to build test-bed in underground subway station. Breaking energy is one of the most energy saving method in railway, but it has not be fully used up for economical purpose. This paper demonstrates on energy saving technology application including breaking energy and heating energy to underground subway station. It also offer solution of optimization of power energy flow. Moreover, economic feasibility analysis performed for undergound test bed constuction.

  • The e-mailing system has brought in an innovative information sharing of data communications and gained ground as an essential tool in doing business which ranges from delivering inside information. exchanging messages between groups and with customers to electronic advertisements. Making the most of the network communication technology, entrepreneurs have established a solid mailing system in their groupware and portal system where they carry out interactive communications through the aerial transmission. This paper analyzes the research results in the field of mailing system of the railroad portal installed by the Korea Railroad Research Institute and illustrates what has been derived in the course the software development at the same time.

  • Tilting trains are now an established feature of railway operations throughout the world. For intercity traffic, tilt provides operators with increasing speeds, and therefore enhanced competitiveness, on existing routes where insufficient traffic or a lack of funds precludes the construction of a dedicated new high-speed railway. This paper explains the reduction effects of journey time with the Korean tilting train. The Korean Tilting Train express (TTX) project has been carried out to develop alt the core technologies related to tilting train and infra-technology to provide high speed inter-city service with the speed of 180 km/h as well as maintenance-free technology for conventional railway system. In order to simulate we considered 5 conventional railway. As a results of simulation, we found out the tilting train has very high efficiency(reduction rate 20-30%).

  • When a vehicle passes through turnout, it is required to minimize the changes of lateral force for running safety of vehicle. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze interaction between the vehicle and the turnout in order to estimate the lateral force and the derailment coefficient on the turnout. In this paper, analysis model of the vehicle and turnout are established and analysis is carried out when the vehicle passes through turnout in order to improve running safety of the vehicle on turnout. To verify the vehicle and turnout analysis model, the contact points between wheel and rail and the influence of changing cradle and tongue rail are also discussed.

  • Each nation of the world is intensively propelling the R&D investment to solve the financial crisis and worldwide economic recession occurred from last year. This means the world economic is under economic system based on the knowledge. So, The R&D is continuously propelled for possession of the technology through the R&D stock and which is core in the knowledge based economic system. In this world stream, our government is also increasing the R&D investment and checked the technology level through surveying the R&D stock and corn parison of each industry or world. The R&D investment of the railroad is continued but there is no data of the R&D stock. So, surveying the railroad R&D stock and comparing with korea industry is processed.

  • Safety of the Train Control System become more important along with the progress of the computer and the technology of communications in these days. Safety of the Train Traffic Control System needs an accurate analysis of the Hazard to reduce losses of a property and lives. Many of advanced railroad nations already had established safety standards when they set the system even considering scrap of railroad and put a great concern on developing safety system which is getting larger and more complicate. Domestic railroad system has to introduce improved technology and systematically prepare and make a scientific survey to achieve unparalleled reliability and safety as well. In this Study, ITCC CTC System will show the research and the analysis of the hazard to ensure the safety of software.

  • 철도의 중장기 발진계획과 구조개혁에 따라 열차운행 및 유지보수의 효율화가 대두되고 있다. 특히, 운영자측면에서는 저밀도 선구에 대하여 비용의 증대에 따른 많은 어려움이 존재하여 이에 대한 적절한 방안이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국외의 철도운영 사례조사를 통하여 저밀도 선구에서의 운영환경을 고려한, 기술적인 측면에서 국내의 철도환경에 적합하고 선로변 설비의 최소화와 업무의 효율화를 추구할 수 있는 새로운 열차제어시스템을 제안하였다.

Evaluation Technology for Brake Performance of Tread Brake Shoe (답면 브레이크 슈의 제동성능 평가 기법)

  • In tread brake of freight cars, brake force is produced by the friction between the wheel and the brake shoe. Friction coefficients associated with the brake power, weight variation and brake shoe types should be sensitively treated as the design parameters. The conditions of the car, empty and loaded, should also be taken into consideration in brake force design and the control of brake force has some limitations in terms of the brake system design so that the brake friction materials selection should be considered as important measures to solve that difficulties. Friction characteristics of brake friction materials should remain within the range of maximum and minimum value and the friction performance should remain stable regardless of brake time and temperature. This study presented an experimental evaluation method to secure optimum brake performance by keeping safe brake effect and brake distance by the friction coefficient of the brake shoe of the freight cars.
