  • With the historical opening of the express rail, Korea has joined the league of France, Japan, Germany and Spain and entered into the super high-speed train era. Opening of the express rail will not only bring about enormous changes to the lives of Koreans, but it will also have a huge influence on the economic, social and cultural aspects of the country. With construction of the Seoul - Busan KTX line, railway passenger transportation capacity and freight transportation capacity will increase. Fast, safe, convenient and environmentally friendly, the express rail is a product of the latest technology and will secure its position as the newest and most preferred method of transportation for the next generation. As the traffic noise, train noise from KTX will become a social problems with the acceleration of speed and increase in the lines. In order to predict the train noise propagation from KTX, this paper presents the sound source system, the calculation model and the scale model experiment. Noise level unit patterns of a KTX that take the rolling noise, the motor noise and aerodynamic noise into consideration are simulated by the scale model experiment and numerical analysis.

두 배의 Rail-to-Rail 입력 범위를 갖는 NTV SAR ADC (Double Rail-to-Rail NTV SAR ADC)

  • 본 논문은 두 배의 rail-to-rail 입력 전압 범위를 갖는 저-전력 0.6-V 10-bit 200-kS/s successive approximation register(SAR) analog-to-digital converter(ADC)를 제안한다. 제안된 near-threshold voltage(NTV)의 전원 전압을 갖는 회로는, 본질적인 입력 신호 전력 부족을 두 배의 rail-to-rail 입력 전압 범위를 구현함으로써 극복하였다. 이 회로는 일반적인 NTV 회로에 비해 4배의 입력 신호 전력을 갖게 되고, 그로써 SAR ADC의 신호 대 잡음비(signal-to-noise ratio, SNR)를 개선했다. 제안된 ADC는 65-nm CMOS 공정을 이용하여 제작되었다. 0.6-V 전원 전압과 $2.4-V_{pp}$(차동쌍)의 입력 전압, 200-kS/s에서 ADC의 SNDR은 59.87 dB이며 전력 소모는 364.5-nW이다. ADC 코어가 차지하는 면적은 $84{\times}100{\mu}m^2$이다.

판형교 장대화에 따른 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement on Plate Girder Bridges Through Continuous Welded Rail)

  • The challenging aspect of CWR (continuous welded rail) is the additional axial forces in rails, mainly due to the thermal expansion of steel plate girder and rail itself. It has been found that these axial forces are proportional to girder length, total bridge length and bolt tightening forces. Also these forces are dependent to girder support conditions, types of bearings and their arrangements. With CWR, the authors' previous studies show that performance improvements like noise reduce, fatigue resistances and bearing durability increment can be expected. In addition to these effects, secondary effects due to the semi integral behavior between rail and bridge girder also can be expected. Special bearings which can reduce the absolute maximum axial forces have been developed, and applied to real 100m span bridge. The performance improvements were verified through site measurements and numerical analysis. The purpose of this study is to confirm the expected performance improvement aspects of steel plate girder bridges with CWR. To verify these aspects, girder stiffness changes, rail axial force changes, girder displacements and noise level were thoroughly measured and compared.

전동차 외부소음 저감 방안 검토 (Review of the mitigations the exterior noise level of EMU)

  • To reduce the exterior noise level of EMU, there are several ways have been evaluated. The noise sources for the exterior noise level are the traction motor, driving gear and wheel/rail rolling noise. In this article, the ways to mitigate the noise issue for EMU have been investigated and especially the way to protect the noise radiation from the bogie area and wheel/rail rolling noise. The way to evaluate the effect of the side skirt has been reviewed. To install the side skirt, the interface between the side skirt and the carbody and bogie should be examined and the acoustic design of the side skirt will be evaluated.

  • Recently in Korea, noise is one of the most important social issues because the living standard becomes more higher. Railway noise is also annoying one in our society, although railway has very positive role in our country. The major measures for mitigation of railway noise in Korea are rail welding and installation of noise barrier on the noisy area. But these measures have its own limit for the calm and comfortable living environment. In Europe the railway noise problem has been treated more systematically and aggressively, there has been emission noise standard for Trans-European rail network. In this paper, the trend of noise standard for railway vehicles will be reported and the check point for our country will be discussed.

살수를 이용한 철도곡선구간 스퀼소음 저감효과에 관한 연구 (Effect of Reducing Squeal Noise at Railway of Curve Section by using the Watering)

  • The urban railway has been planned not only the subway, but also the elevated railway in Seoul, South Korea. Therefore, it is steadily increasing civil complaints for railway noise passing through that residential district. In this paper, we focused on noise of squeal characteristics induced by interaction between railway vehicle's wheel and rail. Then we selected the point that carried out scattering water droplet to the rail and compared the noise level of the watering test results before and after. Scattering water test results showed that level of the noise reduced intermittently occurring high frequency characteristics of squeal noise as well as overall noise level. In the future, we will apply the sensor to the sprinkling system for noise reduction where the place of existing squeal noise is, and make a suggestion of this solution will be more economical, environmental-friendly, and appropriate to reduce the squeal noise occurred by railway vehicle than others.

  • Noise generated from maglev vehicles mainly consists of two components, one is due to mechanical noise and the other due to aerodynamic noise. The former is due to the vehicle-guideway interactions and the latter results from the unsteady air flow around the vehicle. Aerodynamic noise could become more predominant around 225 km/h for maglev vehicles. In this paper, the aerodynamic noise of maglev vehicles is investigated experimentally. The results of the wind tunnel experiments of maglev vehicle models are introduced and compared. The comparison shows that the position of the main noise is between the bottom of the vehicle model and the rail. It is also found that the emitted sound pressure level is related to the gap size between the vehicle bottom and the rail.

  • Form the application of long rail system the non-ballast steel plate bridges, fatigue strength increase and rail noise reduction can be expected. This is mainly form the reduction of the rail impact at the rail joint locations which already made to behave together from welds. In the high speed rail, application of long rail system is essential because without long rail system, the required serviceability level can not be achieved. But even with this long rail systems, the thermal expansion from the girder can not be absorbed in the normal bearing systems, and these expansion cause between girder and rail. Also unexpected rail buckling and fracture through rail thermal tension may happen. It was found through numerical analysis and field measurement that these problems can be avoided by semi-fixed bearing system. In this study, the benefits of non-ballast plate bridge through long rail system, especially at the point of girder stability, girder stiffness increase and bearing maintenance will be reviewed.

주행질량하의 방진 궤도레일의 동적응답 및 진동특성 (Dynamic Response and Vibration Characteristics of an Isolation Rail Track under a Traveling Mass)

  • This paper presents the dynamic response and the vibration characteristics for a rail-track supported by discrete springs and dampers. Recently, automatic conveyer system, rail-track, rack-master system demand the soundproof facilities and vibration suppression measures in order to satisfy the strict environmental standards. The equations of motions of the dynamic characteristics for a vibration suppression rail-track under a traveling mass were derived by Galerkin's mode summation method considering gravity, centrifugal force, Coriolis force, inertia force of the moving mass, transverse inertia of the rail-track. Also, numerical results were calculated by Runge-Kutta integration method. In order to investigate vibration characteristics and dynamic responses, modal testing and measurement of the responses of the rail-track were performed. Through the experiment and numerical simulations, numerical results have a good agreement with experimental ones.
