  • In this paper, interference analysis is carried out to obtain the operating criterion and coexistence condition between digital television devices and cognitive radio-based mobile wimax devices in the UHF (Ultra High Frequency) broadcasting frequency bands. To this end, an efficient interfering calculation tool known as SEAMCAT (Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte-Carlo Analysis Tool) is employed to acquire the coexistence criterions between heterogeneous radio links operating in the same portion of spectrum. As a result, these criterions will be used to achieve interference temperature limit level applied to interference temperature model for analyzing the capacity of cognitive radio receivers accurately.

  • As the types of radio equipment becomes more complex and diversified in various fields, radio interference occurs frequently. In the domestic situation where the territory is narrow, many systems are deployed in a specific highland with a good radio wave environment. Radar systems that transmit high power signals of the same band are sometimes deployed and operating at close distance. In this paper, the type of interference was classified for the actual radio wave interference phenomenon and appropriate signal interference parameters were derived. The power density of the interference signal was predicted using the analysis method and the effectiveness was verified through measurement. And, we propose a method to minimize interference by analyzing operating scenarios of interferer radar and victim radar.

  • In order to support a cell-independent traffic asymmetry, the conventional TDD system cannot avoid crossed time slot (CTS) interference. Moreover, the TDD/FDD hierarchical overlay cellular systems is taken into account as a generally accepted cell model in a heterogeneous radio environment. In this paper, we propose an interference resolving radio resource allocation technique in a TDD-OFDMA cellular system that overlays a FDD-CDMA cell. In our proposed scheme, we exploit under-used FDD-CDMA uplink resource by TDD mobile abiding by a region based time slot(TS) allocation which in turn mitigates CTS interference considerably. It is demonstrated that combined with under-used resource utilization scheme based on mobile's location, the proposed technique can reduce CTS interference considerably and support the asymmetric traffic in TDD system.

  • This paper introduces a radio-wave interference assessment of wind turbines that were planned to be installed at Homi-Cape in Pohang region where wind resource has been evaluated worthwhile developing a wind farm. In that area, AM radio station with two antennas and a harbor radar facility are located so that radio-wave coupling is inevitable if the wind farm is designed without considering radio-wave environmental impact. A low-frequency analysis using MoM (Method of Moment) is used to examine interference effect caused by wind turbines and an optimal layout minimizes coupling effect is presented.

  • Radio sources are very weak, as they can travel through large distances. Radio sources also have photons with low energies compared to others electromagnetic waves (EM). Microwave photons have a little more energy than radio waves, infrared photons have still more, then visible, ultraviolet, X-rays, and the most energetic electromagnetic wave is gamma-rays. Radio astronomy studies are restricted due to radio frequency interference (RFI) produced by people. If this disturbance is not minimized, it poses critical problems for astrophysical studies. The purpose of this paper is to profile RFI maps in Peninsular Malaysia with a minimum mapping technique for RFI interference. Decision-making processes using GIS (Geographical Information System) for the selection requires gathering information for a variety of parameters. These factors affecting the selection process are also taken into account. In this study, various factors or parameters are involved, such as the availability of telecommunications transmission (including radio and television), rainfall, water lines and human activity. This mapping step must be followed by RFI site testing in order to identify areas of low RFI. This study will benefit radio astronomy research, especially regarding the RFI profile.

  • This paper is related radio interference from inductive system to radio device in home and industrial environment according to increasing the usage of inductive system. In order to analyze interference from magnetic field strength of inductive system, interference model was suggested and explain the method to calculate separation distance by using conversion that from magnetic field strength to magnetic dipole moment based on suggested interference model. Also, scenario that interference occur between inductive system and radio device was shown and the separation distance between inductive system and radio device was calculate with that scenario. The suggested method in this paper will be used to secure the compatibility between inductive system and radio device.

  • Since radio interference can degrade the performance of systems or limit the system operation, an accurate assessment of radio interference with the existing systems should be conducted prior to the operation of a new system. In this paper, we present an evaluation methodology for the radio interference between radio-navigation satellite service (RNSS) systems and mobile communication service (MS) system. Radio interferences from RNSS systems into MS system using minimum coupling loss (MCL) method are simulated and vice-versa, and the frequency sharing condition between two systems are derived in a same geographical area.

  • In this paper, we analyze the effect of mobility on the performance of full-duplex radio. For this, we implement a full-duplex radio prototype using a software-defined radio that is powered by a battery and can thus function in mobile environments. In addition, we compare the performance of self-interference cancellation schemes for two cases considering multi-antenna based full duplex radio and circulator based full duplex radio, respectively. Finally, we show a negative effect of mobility on the self-interference cancellation performance of the full-duplex radio system, and analyze the effect of the update period of the self-interference cancellation filter on the performance. In particular, when the update period is reduced by about 1000 times, the power of self-interference is reduced by 5.7dB for circulator-based full-duplex radio and 3.1dB for both antenna-based full-duplex radio.

  • Analytic modeling and computational simulation for the protection of DTV from cognitive radio interference are performed. Protection is achieved by using the protection ratio, which is derived through system modeling and its analysis. On the frequency coordination between digital TV and cognitive radio, an analysis in a co-channel environment, in a rural area in Korea, is performed.

  • In this paper, we introduce a wireless package system based on the amateur radio HR(HAM Radio) and satellite communication as a novel wireless disaster communication system and have configured a interference scenario receiving interference from adjacent base stations and D2D groups in the disaster network. In such interference scenarios, we propose a frequency re-allocation method to avoid interference and communicate with disaster networks by securing the channel capacity required between D2D terminals. As a result of computer simulation, we can find the proposed method has improved BED performance of a gain of 1.5dB and overall system throughput than conventional methods.
