  • The Interaction between tire and road is responsible for the excited vibration of the tire, and It is also important for the sound radiation. In this paper. measurement of tire structural vibration noise from a chassis dynamometer using Spatial Transformation of Sound Field(STSF) technique is studied. STSF involving a scan that uses an array of transducers over a planar surface close to the source is under investigation. From cross spectra measurement during the scan, a principal component representing the sound field is extracted. Any power descriptor of the near field can then be investigated by means of near-field acoustic holography, while the distant field can be determined by application of Helmholtz integral equation. The results of the measurement were used to obtain the radiation sound pattern from the center line of the tire, and to locate the radiation sound generating regions in the vicinity of the tire.

  • In this paper, a slot antenna with built-in Bazooka balun aimed for a WiBro repeater was designed and fabricated. The return loss and radiation pattern of the slot antenna were improved due to the introduced Bazooka balun. This balun brings about even radiation pattern and keeps the stabilized coverage of repeater And it is easy to unite this balun with the antenna body by providing the terminal of Bazooka balun with screw shape. H-type slot was used to reduce the size of the antenna, and the slot antenna was fabricated in the structural symmetry with respect to a feeding point to afford the omni-directional radiation pattern. The simulated results were obtained by MWS(Microwave Studio Simulator) of CST company, and the measurement on the proposed antenna was conducted in an anechoic chamber equipped with a network analyzer and a far field measurement system. The measured peak gain shows 5.75 dBi and the average gain is above -0.8 dBi. The return loss remains below -12.35 dB for all frequency bands in WiBro regarded as a good performance.

  • This paper analyzes the correlations between the impedance matching of the antenna and the radiation characteristics of the mobile handset body. Using two kinds of mobile handset which has retractable and fixed antenna the impedance and radiation pattern is measured under totally 16 conditions. By measured results, it has been identified that the radiation energy into human head can be reduced by attaining the better impedance matching when the radiation pattern out of the mobile handset is like the ideal monopole antenna.

  • In this paper, a CLPDA (Crossed Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna) for EMI / EMC Measurement is presented, and is analyzed by Combining the moment method and the transmission line theory. The CLPDA has a broaddband characteristic. It is so important to achieve a impedance matching over op- erating frequency range that Twin-boom method is used at feed point. Here, the current distribution, input admittance, radiation pattern and gain are calculated. In practice CLPDA is fabricated. Calculated result for radiation pattern and gain are very closed to measured result.

  • In this paper, we described the study on back-radiation level improvement of IFF antenna after briefly describing a design of IFF antenna to distinguish the target as the sub-antenna of surveillance radar. The proposed IFF antenna was minimized a size with use all-in-one power divider as a two-channel IFF antenna forming sum and difference pattern. The method for back-radiation level reduction was studied, and the identified method through the simulation confirmed the decrement throught the measurement.

  • Multileaf collimator is essential equipment in conformal radiation therapy, however the use is limitted by increase of penumbra width and undulating dose distribution at the field edge. The purpose of this study is to improve the penumbra and dose distribution in the multileaf collimator field edge. Measurement were performed with X-omat V film in solid water phantom using 6MV photon beam from Siemens linear accelerator. All the measurement were made along the central axis of $5{\times}5cm,\;10{\times}10cm$ circular field for constant SSD of 100 cm. To improve the penumbra and dose distribution collimator was rotated by 15 degrees from 0 to 90 degrees (collimator rotation method) and center was shifted to the longitudinal direction by fourth of lead width (center shift method). We compare the penumbra and dose distribution at the field edge to alloy block. Dose distribution and penumbra width at the feild edge of MLC showed undulated dose pattern and increased penumbra compared with alloy block. However, in the collimator rotation method and center shift method we abtained simular results with alloy block. Through the study we expected that clinical use of MLC will be increase.

  • The measurement of the radiation energy, trunk temperature, leaf area index (LAI), air temperature, vapor pres-sure, and precipitation has been conducted under a mixed forest at Kwangneung Arboretum during the period of 2001. Characteristics of the diurnal and seasonal variation of the radiative energy were investigated. The aerodynamic roughness length was determined as about 1.6 m and the mean albedo was about 0.1 The downward short-wave radiation was linearly correlated with the net radiation and its correlation coefficient was about 0.96. From this linear relation, the heating coefficient was calculated and its annual mean value was about 0.21 The albedo and heating coefficient was varied with season, surface characteristics, and meteorological conditions. The diurnal and seasonal variations of radiation energy were discussed in terms of the surface characteristics and meteorological conditions. In the daytime, during clear skies, net radiation was dominated by the shortwave radiation. In presence of clouds and fog, the radiation energy was diminished. At night, the net radiation was entirely dominated due to the net longwave radiation. There was no distinct diurnal variation in net radiation flux during the overcast or rainy days. The net radiation was strongest in spring and weakest in winter. The seasonal development in leaf area was also reflected in a strong seasonal pattern of the radiation energy balance. The timing, duration, and maximum leaf area and trunk temperature were found to be an important control on radiation energy budget. The trunk temperature was either equal or warmer than air temperature during most of the growing season because the canopy could absorb a substantial amount of sunlight. After autumn (after the middle of October), the trunk temperature was consistently cooler than air temperature.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the annual variation in diameter growth of Quercus spp. and climatic factors such as monthly temperature, precipitation and solar radiation in central and northern Korea. Annual diameter growth was measured by using stem cores of 262 Quercus trees, and the correlation between the diameter growth and the climatic factors was analyzed. Mean diameter growth of Quercus spp. in Jungwangsan was larger than that in Woraksan, and mean diameter growth by the species was large in order of Q. serrata>Q. variablis>Q. mongolica>Q. dentata. The diameter growth pattern of Quercus spp. in Woraksan was different from that in Jungwangsan. Positive correlations between diameter growth of Quercus trees and temperature or the solar radiation during July were found in Jungwangsan. Significant correlations between diameter growth and solar radiation during March and precipitation during June were found in Woraksan. It is suggested that climatic factors similarly affect the diameter growth of Quercus spp. in a mountainous terrain, but influences of the climatic factors depend on other environmental conditions such as altitude, topography and soil depth.

  • In this paper, we propose a low-cost near-field measurement system using a circular cylindrical scanning formula in order to obtain the radiation pattern of an AUT (Antenna Under Test). Near-field measurement is performed with the improved circular cylindrical scanning based on a planar scanning. We propose a novel method that replaces a network analyzer and we also offer the specifications of the near-field measurement system.

  • Development of an automobile antenna printed on-glass for FM radio receptions was discussed in this study. NEC-2 code was used as the design tool in this research. An omnidirectional radiation pattern and reception power level of the newly designed antenna were compared with those of the conventional pole antenna for the evaluation of its performance. The test sites for the reception power level measurement were chosen by their signal enbironmental condition, such as multipath fading, and strong field effect area.
