As intensity modulated radiation therapy compared with conventional radiation therapy, tumor target dose increased and normal tissues and critical organs dose reduced. In brain tumor, treatment planning of intensity modulated radiation therapy was practiced in 4MV, 6MV, 15MV X-ray energy. In these X-ray energy, was considered the dose distribution and dose volume histogram. As 4MV X-ray compared with 6MV and 15MV, maximum dose of right optic-nerve increased 10.1%, 8.4%. Right eye increased 5.2%, 2.7%. And left optic-nerve, left eye, optic chiasm and brainstem increased 1.7% - 5.2%. Even though maximum dose of PTV and these critical organs show different from 1.7% - 10.1% according to X-ray energies, these are a piont dose. Therefore in brain tumor, treatment planning of intensity modulated radiation therapy in 9 treatment field showed no relation with energy dependency.

A dosimetric evaluation of volumetric modulated arc therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy, and three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy for the lower extremity soft tissue sarcoma For the lower extremity soft tissue sarcoma, volumetric modulated arc therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy, and three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy were evaluated to compare these three treatment planning technique. The mean doses to the planning target volume and the femur were calculated to evaluate target coverage and the risk of bone fracture during radiation therapy. Volumetric modulated arc therapy can reduce the dose to the femur without compromising target coverage and reduce the treatment time compared with intensity modulated radiation therapy.

Intensity of solar radiation on a horizontal surface at 12 areas in South Korea was indicated in the last report, Vol. 5, No.3 Journal of the S. A. R. E. K. In this report, area of South Korea was devided into 4 zones in latitude, and calculated intensity of total mean solar radiation on horizontal surface, normal surface to sun rays, and vertical surface of south, north, west and east. For the 4 areas, the following data have been obtained and are indicated in each table. Intensity of total mean solar radiation for Seoul, Gimcheon, Jinju and Jeju$\cdots$Table2 thru Table 5.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cancer incidence rate and provide basic data by measuring the photoneutron dose generated during intensity-modulated radiation therapy and volumetric modulated arc therapy used in radiation therapy for prostate cancer. The optically stimulated luminescence albedo neutron dosimeter for neutron measurement was placed on the Rando phantom in the abdomen and thyroid and photoneutron dose generated was measured. As a result of the study, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (7 portal) was measured to be higher than volumetric rotational radiation therapy in both abdominal and thyroid locations. When the cancer incidence rate was evaluated using the nominal risk coefficient of ICRP 103, the cancer incidence rate due to exposure to the colon and thyroid during intensity-modulated radiation therapy was 9.9 per 1,000 people, and volumetric rotational radiation therapy for 1,000 people. It was 3.5 per person. Based on the principle of ALARA (As low as reasonably archievable), it is considered to be a guideline for minimizing the exposure dose to normal organs in the establishment of a radiation treatment plan.

The concept of detection and classification of objects based on infrared camera is widely applied to military applications. While the object detection technology using infrared images has long been researched and the latest one can detect the object in sub-pixel, the object classification technology still needs more research. In this paper, we present object classification method based on measured radiant intensity of objects such as target, artillery, and missile using infrared camera. The suggested classification method was verified by radiant intensity measuring experiment using black body. Also, possible measuring errors were compensated by modelling-based correction for accurate radiant intensity measure. After measuring radiation of object, the model of radiant intensity is standardized based on theoretical background. Based on this research, the standardized model can be applied to the object classification by comparing with the actual measured radiant intensity of target, artillery, and missile.

The intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) with a multileaf collimator (MLC) requires the conversion of a radiation fluence map into a leaf sequence file that controls the movement of the MLC during radiation treatment of patients. Patient dose verification is clinically one of the most important parts in the treatment delivery of the radiation therapy. The three dimensional (3D) reconstruction of dose distribution delivered to the target helps to verify patient dose and to determine the physical characteristics of beams used in IMRT. A new method is presented for the pretreatment dosimetric verification of two dimensional distributions of photon intensity by means of Beam Intensity Scanner System (BISS) as a radiation detector with a custom-made software for dose calculation of fluorescence signals from scintillator. The scintillator is used to produce fluorescence from the irradiation of 6MV photons on a Varian Clinac 21EX. The BISS reproduces 3D- relative dose distribution from the digitized fluoroscopic signals obtained by digital video camera-based scintillator(DVCS) device in the IMRT. For the intensity modulated beams (IMBs), the calculations of absorbed dose are performed in absolute beam fluence profiles which are used for calculation of the patient dose distribution. The 3D-dose profiles of the IMBs with the BISS were demonstrated by relative measurements of photon beams and shown good agreement with radiographic film. The mechanical and dosimetric properties of the collimating of dynamic and/or step MLC system alter the generated intensity. This is mostly due to leaf transmission, leaf penumbra and geometry of leaves. The variations of output according to the multileaf opening during the irradiation need to be accounted for as well. These phenomena result in a fluence distribution that can be substantially different from the initial and calculative intensity modulation and therefore, should be taken into account by the treatment planning for accurate dose calculations delivered to the target volume in IMRT.
In radiation therapy, the goal of three dimensional conformal radiation therapy(3DCRT) is to conform the apatial distribution of the prescribed radiation dose to the precise 3D configuration of the tomor, and at the same time, to minimize the dose to the surrounding normal tissues. To optimize treatment volume of tomor, treatment volume will be same tomor volume. Biological considerations need to be incorporated in the intensity modulation optimization process. Planning of intensity modulated treatment can irradiate more 20% in tomor compare to conventional 3DCRT. In lung cancer and rectal cancer, planning of intensity modulated treatment showed optimizing dose distribution.
This article describes an investigation of basic combustion characteristics of radiant burner with various firing rate and equivalence ratios in porous metal. As a main experimental condition, firing rates and equivalence ratios each were adjusted from 204 to $408kW/m^2$ and 0.6 to 1.3. The purpose of this study is to investigate radiation efficiency using two experiment methods. The first way is to calculate the radiation efficiency by measuring the temperature of the burner surface, and the second is to compute the radiation efficiency by measuring the radiation intensity of the burner surface with a radio meter. The value of the radiation efficiency did not exactly match in the two cases. But we figured out that in accordance with increasing heat power, radiation efficiency was decreased. And additional complementary experiment on the relationship between these values is needed.
Purpose: Planning for radiotherapy relies on implicit estimation of the probability of tumor control and the probability of complications in adjacent normal tissues for a given dose distribution. Methods: The aim of this pilot study was to reconstruct dose-volume histograms (DVHs) from text files generated by the Eclipse treatment planning system developed by Varian Medical Systems and to verify the integrity and accuracy of the dose statistics. Results: We further compared dose statistics for intensity-modulated radiotherapy of the head and neck between the Eclipse software and software developed in-house. The dose statistics data obtained from the Python software were consistent, with deviations from the Eclipse treatment planning system found to be within acceptable limits. Conclusions: The in-house software was able to provide indices of hotness and coldness for treatment planning and store statistical data generated by the software in Oracle databases. We believe the findings of this pilot study may lead to more accurate evaluations in planning for radiotherapy.
