  • Electrical power supply is needed to operate the radar system in the field. In addition, it should not cause performance deterioration under the environmental factors due to characteristics of military equipment, and should not cause malfunction due to electromagnetic waves generated in radar, and then should not cause malfunction in radar equipment. Therefore, By applying a permanent magnet to the rotor of the generator, light weighting and high efficiency of generator were achieved. As a result, electrical performance test of the generator, the rated output power was 80.8 kW, the maximum output power was 88.1 kW, and the output power efficiency was 98.1 % under the full load condition. When the load capacity of the generator was changed from no load to full load, the maximum voltage variation was 3.6 % and the frequency variation was 0.3 %. As a result of the transient response test for measuring the output power of the generator according to the load characteristics change, the maximum voltage variation of 7.9 %, frequency variation of 0.5 % were confirmed, and the transient response time was 2.1 seconds. Environmental tests were conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F to evaluate the operability of the generator groups. Normal operation of radar system generator group was confirmed under high temperature and low temperature environment conditions. Electromagnetic tests were conducted to check if electromagnetic wave generated from both radar system and generator group in operation caused any performance deterioration to each other. As a result, it was confirmed that the performance deterioration due to electromagnetic wave inflow, radiation, and conduction did not occur. It is expected that it should be possible to provide high efficiency power supply and stable power supply by applying to various military system as well as radar system.

  • In a small cell base station used in densely populated areas, a dual polarized multiple antenna(MIMO) is mainly used to increase the cell capacity. This paper demonstrates a dual-polarization antenna with high cross-polarization discrimination(XPD) that can improve the capacity of a small cell using a dual polarization multiple antenna (MIMO). By using the symmetric structure and differential feeding, high XPD in all directions is achieved. In addition, a very similar radiation pattern is observed between each polarization. Because of high XPD and similar radiation pattern in all directions, proposed antenna is well adopted for small-cell multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system. Experimental results shows that the proposed antenna has a bandwidth of 180 MHz (2.51~2.7 GHz), a maximum gain of 4.5 dBi (3.5~4.5 dBi), and a half-power beam width of 85 degrees. In addition, average XPD of 26.4 dB in all directions, more than 13.8 dB increase than previous dual-polarization antennas which use single emitter by using different feeding or selectively use polarization through switching.

  • As the problem of shields made of lead has recently emerged, research on replacement shields is essential, and studies on the manufacture of diagnostic X-ray shields with 3D printers are also being actively conducted. Recently, with the development of metal mixed filaments, it has become possible to manufacture shielding materials easily, but studies on the nozzle size and output setting of 3D printers are insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to compare and analyze the results through a shielding rate experiment using a brass filament and a 3D printer, outputting the shield according to the nozzle size and layer height, and using a diagnostic radiation generator. The nozzle size was changed to 0.4, 0.8 mm, layer height 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 mm, and output. The shielding rate test was fixed at 40 mAs, and the shielding rate was analyzed by experimenting with 60, 80, and 100 kVp, respectively. As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed that the printing time could be reduced to 1/10 according to the nozzle size and the layer height, and the shielding rate could be increased by 1% or more.

  • A photovoltaic energy map that included a topography effect on the Korean peninsula was developed using the Gangneung-Wonju National University (GWNU) solar radiation model. The satellites data (MODIS, OMI and MTSAT-1R) and output data from the Regional Data Assimilation Prediction System (RDAPS) model by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) were used as input data for the GWNU model. Photovoltaic energy distributions were calculated by applying high resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM) to the topography effect. The distributions of monthly accumulated solar energy indicated that differences caused by the topography effect are more important in winter than in summer because of the dependency on the solar altitude angle. The topography effect on photovoltaic energy is two times larger with 1 km resolution than with 4 km resolution. Therefore, an accurate calculation of the solar energy on the surface requires high-resolution topological data as well as high quality input data.

  • We have developed a noncontact temperature sensor using a silver halides infrared optical fiber. An infrared radiation from a heat source is transferred by a silver halides infrared optical fiber and measured by infrared sensors such as a thermopile and a thermal optical power-meter. The relationships between the temperature of a heat source and the output voltage of the thermopile and the optical power of a thermal optical power-meter are determined. The measurable temperature range using a thermopile and a thermal optical power-meter are from 100 to $750^{\circ}C$ and from 30 to $750^{\circ}C$ respectively. It is expected that a noncontact temperature sensor using infrared optical fiber can be developed for medical and industrial usages based on the results of this study.

  • At the most recent years, laser medical instruments, laser applications and laser nuclear fusion need strong visible light and ultraviolet rays. Nonlinear optical devices, such as harmonic generators and parametric oscillators, provide a means of extending the frequency range of available laser sources. Frequency conversion is a useful technique for extending the utility of high-power lasers. It utilizes the nonlinear optical response of an optical medium in intense radiation fields to generate new frequencies. These progresses have been used to generate high-power radiation in all spectral regions, from the ultraviolet to the far infrared. Optical parametric oscillators and amplifiers generate two waves of lower frequency They are capable of generating a range of wavelengths from a single frequency source, in some cases spanning the entire visible and near infrared regions. Consequently, in order to obtain the green light, the pulsed Nd:YAG laser using multiple-mesh PFN(Pulsed Forming Network) method with Nonlinear optical device was adopted. We compared the current pulseshapes with the laser output energy, and conversion efficiency.

  • The image intensifier tube that is clinically used gets changed depending on its terms of use. As the brightness gets deteriorated and the performance gets decrease, the X-ray output needs to be increased to maintain the identical diagnosis outcome. As a consequence, the patients are exposed to the increased radiation. Since not many accurate studies have been made, this study measured the conversion factor and resolution depending on the use of the devices that were currently used in Korea. When comparison was made with a device with less than 1 year-use, the conversion factor of a device with 6 year-use got decreased up to 25% while its resolution was reduced from 3.4 lp/mm to 2.5 lp/mm. Such outcome highlights the necessary measures to be supplemented as the increased terms of use implied also the increased radiation exposure among the patients as well as difficulty to conduct an accurate exam.

  • The gain stability of the nuclear pulse linear amplifiers with feedback for such a fast pulse input as the step voltage or the nuclear radiation detector pulse is analysed in detail. The expression is derived which describes the waveform at the anode circuit of the photomultiplier tube which is a part of the nuclear radiation detector. It is analysed and compared when the feedback amplifier has one and two time-constants. When these fast input pulse voltages are applied to the feedback amplifier, the effects of feedback in linearity and stability of the output voltage appear only after two or three rise-times of the amplifier, And it is proved that in order to reduce this limitation, the rise time of the feedback amplifier shou1d be less than the input pulse width. It is also shown that the above theory can be applied directly to the voltage-shunt feedback amplifier stages designed as the basic amplifier of the linear amplifier, and that the gain stability is more improved for the smaller input impedance of this amplifier stage.

  • A method for estimating the effectiveness of each protective action against a nuclear accident has been proposed using the fuzzy set theory. In most of the existing countermeasure models in actions under radiological emergencies, the large variety of possible features is simplified by a number of rough assumptions. During this simplification procedure, a lot of information is lost which results in much uncertainty concerning the output of the countermeasure model. Furthermore, different assumptions should be used for different sites to consider the site specific conditions. Tn this study, the diversity of each variable related to protective action has been modelled by the linguistic variable. The effectiveness of sheltering and evacuation has been estimated using the proposed method. The potential advantage of the proposed method is in reducing the loss of information by incorporating the opinions of experts and by introducing the linguistic variables which represent the site specific conditions.
