  • this paper studies the influence of permanent magnet on the vibration of synchronous motor two PM motors with NdFeB and Ferrite magents which have same Back-EMF and output power have been desined. First, the dynamic simulation is performed with these two motors' parameters. The current waveforms can be evaluated. And then based on the equivalent magnetization current principle, the magnetic force density and force including the tangential and radial direction components can be calculated. According to the relationship between the vibration and radial force, the vibration of these two motors can be predicted. This result will give meaningful advice to the motor design.

  • This paper presents a dynamic force analysis of switched reluctance motor using 2D-transient finite element method. The main exciting of the vibration is the electiromagnetic force in the stator that is calculated Maxwell stress method. The advantage for elimation of vibration of 12/8 SRM was explained by comparing the radial force of 12/8 and 6/4 SRM in both time and frequency domain. In order to effective mitigate the vibration during turning off process, effects of different commutation method were investigated.

  • This paper compares and investigates the vibration and noise characteristics through simulations of 12/8 and 6/4 switched reluctance motors (SRMs). The radial force which is the main source of vibration is computed from two-dimensional(2D) transient magnetic finite element analysis (FEA) and compared in both time and frequency domain. At the same output power, the radial force of 6/4 SRM is found to be more than two times as that one of 12/8 SRM. Three-dimensional structural finite-element analysis (3D FEA) is used to study the mechanical characteristics. It can be concluded from static structural analysis that the maximum total deformation could be reduced to 1/26 if the motor is designed with 12/8 structure instead of 6/4. The dominant vibration modes are verified by modal analysis.

  • Vibration of disk drive spindle is one of the major limiting factors in achieving higher track densities in hard disk drives. Vibration of a BLDC motor is a coupled phenomenon between mechanical characteristics and magnetic origins through the motor air-gap. In this paper, radial magnetic forces for symmetric and asymmetric BLDC motor are calculated with respect to the various rotor eccentricity using analytic method. Based on the results of the radial magnetic forces, transient whirl responses of the spindle motor are analyzed using finite element and transfer matrices. Results show that an asymmetric motor has a worse effects on unbalanced magnetic forces and vibration when mechanical and magnetic coupling exists.

  • Due to the rapid increase of long-distance transportation, particular attentions have been paid to truck tires, especially to their dynamic characteristics. In this research, experimental modal analysis on two kinds of light-truck tires, i.e., radial tire and bias tire, are performed by using GRFP(global rational fraction polynomial) method to investigate differences of the dynamic behavior of the two tires. The test results have shown that the modal frequencies of bias tire are much higher than their corresponding values of radial tire with a similar mode shape, which is in accordance with the fact that the radial rigidity of bias tire is higher than that of radial tire. And most of the modal decay rates of bias tire are larger than those of radial tire within the scope of this experiment. In the frequency domain range of test, the bias tire has extra modes, which do not occur in the radial tire. This difference is based on the fact that the circumferential rigidity of the bias tire is quite low whereas that of radial tire is so high that the frequencies of the corresponding modes are out of the frequency range of test.

환형 디스크 형상이 래디얼 진동에 의한 음향방사 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Geometric Configuration on the Vibro-acoustic Characteristics of Radial Vibration of an Annular Disc)

  • 이 논문은 후판 환형 디스크의 기하학적인 형상이 래디얼 방향 진동에 의해 방사되는 소음에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 디스크의 내경을 고정한 상태에서 두께와 외경을 주어진 범위내에서 변경하면서 이론적인 해를 이용하여 래디얼 모드의 고유진동수와 진동모드의 변화를 검토하였다. 이 결과를 이용하여, 해당 형상을 가진 디스크의 래디얼 방향 고유진동에 의해 발생되는 원격음장, 음향파워 및 방사효율을 계산하였다. 이 결과로부터 고유진동에 의한 음향파워와 방사효율을 최소화할 수 있는 기하학적인 형상을 선택하였다. 마지막으로, 최적화된 디스크의 임의 위치에 단위 하모닉 가진을 가했을 경우에 발생되는 음향파워 및 방사효율 스펙트럼을 구하였으며, 전산해석을 통해 그 정확성을 검증하였다. 이 논문에 소개된 방법을 적용하면 주어진 제한 조건을 만족하면서 목표 주파수 범위내에서 래디얼 진동에 의해 발생되는 소음을 최소화할 수 있는 기하학적인 형상을 간편하고 논리적으로 구할 수 있다.

  • Radial Dual Mass Flywheel(RDMF) is designed to reduce torsional vibration and noise occurring in automotive powertrain. In this paper, finite element method is used to evaluate stress level and critical area of the torsional spring box, a major part of RDNF system. In finite element analysis, both static and dynamic loadings are considered and it is found that the most critical spot is the welded zone of spring box. Also, fatigue test is performed and fractured surfaces are examined to find fatigue stress level by experiment.

  • This paper introduces a Lorentz force type four-pole self-bearing motor, where the new pole arrangement of a stator is intended to function both as a synchronous PM motor and as a magnetic bearing. The Lorentz force type has some good points such as linearity of control force, freedom from flux saturation, and high efficiency unlike conventional self-bearing motors. Mathematical expressions of torque and radial force are derived to show that they can be separately controlled regardless of rotational speed and time. To verify the proposed theory, a prototype is made, where a ring-shape outer is actively controlled in two radial directions while the other motions are passively stable supposing the radial stability. Through some experiments, it is shown that the proposed scheme can provide high capability and feasibility for a small high-speed self-bearing motor.

Impact of Eccentricity and Demagnetization Faults on Magnetic Noise Generation in Brushless Permanent Magnet DC Motors

  • Vibrations and noise in electrical machines are directly related to the characteristics of the radial forces on one hand, and mechanical behavior on the other [1, 4]. The characteristics of these forces depend on the air gap flux density, which is also influenced by other factors, such as stator slots and poles, saturation level, winding type, and certain faults. The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of eccentricity and demagnetization faults on electromagnetic noise generated by the external surface of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine [PMSM]. For this purpose, an analytical electromagnetic vibroacoustic model is developed. The results confirm the effect of eccentricity and demagnetization fault in generating some low modes radial forces.
