This is a retrospective review of 33 patients with large cell lung carcinoma treated at Yonsei University Cancer Center between Jan.1985 and Dec.1989. Of the thirty-three patients, twenty eight were men and five women. Median age was 59 years. Large cell undifferentiated carcinoma was the most common pathologic type, $78.8\%$. Twenty one of thirty three patients had far advanced diseases, stage IIIB-IV at the time of initial diagnosis. Pleural effusion was initially presented in 12 patients, and SVC syndrome appeared in 5 patients. As to location of the primary tumor,19($57.6\%$) appeared in the right lung and 14 ($42.4\%$) in the left. Patients with a centrally located primary tumor mass were nearly the same as those peripherally located (17 vs.16). Fifteen of thirty three patients developed metastasis involving not only bone, brain, the opposite lung, adrenal gland but also soft tissue, skin, pancreas and appendix. Treatment was individualized with 19 treated radically and 14 palliatively. After treatment, only two patients showed a complete response. Long term survival was observed in 4 patients: 1 (24 mo.),2 (41 mo.) and 1 (54 mo.). The overall 2 year survival rate was $14.3\%$ while the median survival time was 6.0 months. Through the analysis of the various factors affecting survival, we observed that pleural effusion-absent group and complete response group had a statistical significant better survival rate (p<0.01).
The purpose of this investigation was to observe the viscoelastic properties of five commercial flowable(Aeliteflo, Flow it, Revolution, Tetric flow, Compoglass flow), three conventional hybrid(Z-100, Z-250, P-60) and two condensable(Synergy compact, SureFil) resin composites. A dynamic oscillatory shear test was done to evaluate the storage shear modulus (G'), loss shear modulus(G"), loss tangent(tan ${\delta}$) and complex viscosity(${\eta}^*$) of the resin composites as a function of frequency - dynamic frequency sweep test from 0.01 to 100 rad/s at $25^{\circ}C$ - by using Advanced Rheometric Expansion System(ARES). To investigate the effect on the viscosity of resin composites of filler volume fraction, the filler weight % and volume % were measured by means of Archimedes' principle using a pyknometer. The results were as follows 1. The complex viscosity ${\eta}^*$ of flowable resins was lower than that of hybrid resins and significant differences were observed between brands. The complex viscosity ${\eta}^*$ of condensable resins was higher than that of hybrid resins. The order of complex viscosity ${\eta}^*$ at ${\omega}$=10 rad/s was as follows, Surefil, Synergy compact, P-60, Z-250, Z-100, Aeliteflo, Tetric flow, Compoglass flow, Flow it, Revolution. The relative complex viscosity of flowable resins compared to Z-100 was 0.04~0.56 but Surefil was 30.4 times higher than that of Z-100. 2. The storage shear modulus G' and the loss shear modulus G" of flowable resins were lower than those of hybrid resins but those of condensable resins were higher. The patterns of the change of loss tangent, tan ${\delta}$, of resin composites with increasing frequency were significantly different between brands. The phase angles, ${\delta}$, ranged from $30.2{\sim}78.1^{\circ}$ at ${\omega}$=10 rad/s. 3. All composite resins represent pseudoplastic nature with increasing shear rate. 4. The complex shear modulus $G^*$ and the phase angle ${\delta}$ was represented by the frequency domain phasor form, $G^*({\omega})=G^*e^{i{\delta}}=G^*{\angle}{\delta}$. The locus of frequency domain phasor plots in a complex plane was a valuable method that represent the viscoelastic properties of composite resins. 5. There was no direct linear correlationship but a weak positive relation was observed between filler volume % or weight % and the viscosity of the resin composites.
For the study of the effects of low gamma-irradiation on malt enrymes, barley seeds were irradiated by Co-60, with 10, 100, 1,000 and 10,000 rads respectively. The experiments on the germinated green malt were resulted as follows. (1) By the low doses below 1,000 rads the fresh weights of green malts increased but at the hgih doses of 10,000 rads they decreased. (2) In all doses ${\alpha}$-amylase activity and saccharifying ability were expedited, showing the increased effects of 23-69% and 87-178% respectively and their peaks at 100 rads. (3) Protease activity showed almost no changes ein the low doses below 1,000 rads and decreased remarkably at the high doses of 10,000 rads. (4) Reducing sugar contents of green malts were decreased, particularly in 100 and 1,000 rads. (5) Soluble protein contents of green malts were increased in all doses and had their highest value at 100 rads.

The autorotative flight of maple seeds(Acer palmatum) is numerically simulated based on the 3D geometry and the motion parameters of real seeds. The nominal values of the motion parameters are 1.26 m/s for descent velocity, 133.6 rad/s (1,276 rpm) for spinning rate, $19.4^{\circ}$ for coning angle, and $-1.5^{\circ}$ for pitch angle. A compact leading-edge vortex (LEV) positioned at the inner span of the seed blade causes a large suction pressure on its leeward surface. The suction pressure peaks occur near the leading region of inner span sections. The flow pattern characterized by the prominent LEV and the values of aerodynamic force coefficients obtained in the present study are in good agreement with experimental data measured for a dynamically-scaled robot maple seeds. A spiraling vortex developed in the leeward region advances toward the seed tip and merges with the tip-passing flow, which is considered to be a mechanism of maintaining stable and attached LEV for the autorotating maple seeds.

A plused laser ablation deposition(PLAD) technique has been used for producing fine particle as well as thin film at relatively low substrate temperatures. However, in order to manufacture and evaluate such materials in detail, motions of plume particles generated by laser ablation have to be understood and interactions between the particles by ablation and gas plasma have to be clarified. Therefore this paper was focused on the understanding of plume motion in laser ablation assisted by hi plasmas at 100[mTorr]. One-dimensional hybrid model consisting of fluid and particle models was developed and three kinds of plume particles which are carbon atom(C), $ion(C^+)$ and electron were considered in the calculation of particle method. It was obtained that ablated $C^+$ was electrically captured in Ar plasmas by strong electric field(E). The difference between motions of the ablated electrons and $C^+$ made E strong and the collisional processes active. The energies of plume particles were investigated on a substrate surface. In addition the plume motion in Ar gas was also calculated and discussed.
This experiment was conducted to know the effects of mutagen treatments on callus induction, plant regeneration and their ploidy in the anther culture of wheat. The winter wheat cultivars, 'apos;and 'apos;Wonkwang'apos;, were treated at the mid or late-uninucreate stage under 4 different doses (100, 200, 500 and 1,000 rad.) of X-ray and 3 different levels(0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mole) of Ethyl Methane Sulphonate. The anthers treated were set on the C$\_$17/medium for callus induction, and callus induced was transfered to 1/2 MS medium for plant regeneration. The mutagen treatments inhibited the callus induction but increased the plant regeneration in the callus which were induced from the anther set on the medium for the long time of 60 to 80 days. Also, the chromosome number to the regenerated plant varied largely by increasing of haploid plants(n=3x=21) and by occurring of aneuploidy having n=20 and n=22 of chromosome number.aried largely by increasing of haploid plants(n=3x=21) and by occurring of aneuploidy having n=20 and n=22 of chromosome number.
This study was intended to analyze the dynamic force system which induced the shattering of paddy grains. A model to predict the shattering of paddy grains was developed, and physical quantities, such as mass distribution and rigidity of rice plant, needed for evaluating the minimum shattering forces were also measured. Under the assumption that rice plant right before harvesting is a vibratory system, the mathematical model of the vibratory system was developed and solved with the varied conditions of forcing functions. The results of the study were summarized as follows: 1. The shattering of grain occurred at the abscission layer of grain by the bending moments resulted from the impact force due to the collision of panicles of rice plant. 2. The vibratory model developed for milyang 23 rice variety was analyzed to give the natural frequencies of 7-9 Hz, which were closely related with the excitation frequencies of 4-10 Hz caused by various machine parts besides engine. Thus, avoiding the resonance should be taken into consideration in the design of the harvesting machinery. 3. It was analyzed to predict the lowest frequency that could develop the shattering when the excitation force was applied to the lower end of stem. The lowest frequency for the Milyang 23 rice variety ranged from 8.33 Hz to 11.66 Hz as the amplitude varied from 1 cm to 2.5 cm. 4. The degree of shattering depended upon the magnitude of the impact force and its application point. For Milyang 23 rice variety, the minimum impact force developing the shattering was $5g_f$ when it was applied at 1 cm above the lower end of stern and $1g_f$ when applied at 5 cm above the lower end of stem. 5. The minimum colliding velocity of the panicle, when it was on the ground that would just develop the shattering, was given as follows, $$V=\sqrt{\frac{K_t}{m_g}{\cdot}{{\phi}^2}}$$ where V : The colliding velocity of the panicle against ground to cause the shatteering of rice grain. (cm/sec) $K_t$ : The minimum spring constant for bending at the abscission layer of grain. (dyne-cm/rad) ${\phi}$ : The minimum shattering angle of grain (rad) $m_g$ : The maximum mass of grain. (g).
Purpose: The objective of this study was analyzing the distribution of the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate receptor to investigate the function in the retina of the greater horseshoe bat. Methods: After retinal tissues of adult greater horseshoe bat were cut into $40{\mu}m$ vertical sections, standard immuno-cytochemical techniques was applied for analysis. Immunofluorescence images were obtained using the Bio-Rad MRC 1024 laser scanning confocal microscope. Results: AMPA (GluR1-4), Kainate (GluR5-7, KA1-2) and NMDA (1, 2A, 2B) mainly distributed in the inner plexiform layer and outer plexiform layer. KA1 receptors have existed not only plexiform layer but also ganglion cell layer. Conclusions: The greater horseshoe bat has same neuron and neurotransmitter to mammalian retina. These findings suggest that bat has a functional retina for visual analysis.

Lenin's decree of 1 June 1918 'On the reorganization and centralization of archives in the RSFRS' is appreciated as an institutional and conceptional basis for Socialist archival theory and practice not only in USSR but also in most countries of the socialist community. In spite of its importance to the making role to build the 'landmark' in the history of russian archives. This paper focuses on the activities and achievements of archivists in 'RAD Union(Union of Russian archives activists)' in revolutionary situation of 1917-1920. To preserve documental heritage with historical values in difficult situation of 1917 historians and archivists in 'RAD Union' voluntarily cooperated with new governments. This special situation led them to make more efforts at reformulating national archival system, namely, the state Archival Fond (Gosudarstvennyi Arkhivnyi Fond) as a new base for the centralization and arrangement of all archival materials throughout the country. Their experience was reflected in every articles of the archival decree of June 1918.

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an optimal design of wideband pulsed gamma-ray detectors. Pulsed gamma-ray detectors are designed to operate in a dose rate of $1{\times}10^6{\sim}1{\times}10^8rad(Si)/s$. The input parameter was derived based on the energy ratio of pulse gamma-ray spectrum and the time of the energy. The sensor output current was calculated based on the dose rate control circuit. Using the N-type Epi Wafer, the optimum condition detection sensor was designed based on TCAD. The simulation results show that the optimal Epi layer thickness is 45um when applied voltage 3.3V. The doping concentrations are as follows : N-type is an Arsenic as $1{\times}10^{19}/cm^3$, P-type is a Boron as $1{\times}10^{19}/cm^3$ and Epi layer is Phosphorus as $3.4{\times}10^{12}/cm^3$. Pulse gamma-ray detector diameter is the 1.3mm.
