Experimental Performance Comparison of Dynamic Data Race Detection Techniques

  • Data races are one of the most difficult types of bugs in concurrent multithreaded systems. It requires significant time and cost to accurately detect bugs in complex large-scale programs. Although many race detection techniques have been proposed by various researchers, none of them are effective in all aspects. In this paper, we compare the performance of five recent dynamic race detection techniques: FastTrack, Acculock, Multilock-HB, SimpleLock+, and causally precedes (CP) detection. We experimentally demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of these dynamic race detection techniques in terms of their detection capability, running time, and runtime overhead using 20 benchmark programs with different characteristics. The comparison results show that the detection capability of CP detection does not differ from that of FastTrack, and that SimpleLock+ generates the lowest overhead among the hybrid detection techniques (Acculock, SimpleLock+, and Multilock-HB) for all benchmark programs. SimpleLock+ is 1.2 times slower than FastTrack on average, but misses one true data race reported from Mutilock-HB on the large-scale benchmark programs.

  • 여러 복합재료 성형공정 중에서, Resin Transfer Molding(RTM)은 부피가 크고 일체형의 고성능 제품을 생산하기에 적합한 공정으로 주목받고 있다. 금형충전 중, 섬유 예비성형품과 금형벽면간의 밀착이 제대로 되지 않아 발생하는 Race-track 현상과 금형재의 섬유예비성형품의 압착, 접힘, 뭉침 등에 의한 섬유부피분율의 불균일성과 같은 예기치 못한 영향이 나타나기도 한다. 이로 인해 유동선단이 불안정해지고, Dry spot 생성에 따른 제품의 기계적 성질이 저하되기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 최적의 조건을 적용한 이상적인 성형공정과 Race-track 현상 및 불균일한 섬유부피분율 등의 조건을 적용한 실제적인 성형 공정간의 실시간비교를 통한 공장변수 조절과 유동선단 제어를 수행함으로써 이러한 결함을 줄이려고 하였다. 이를 위해, 수치해석을 통해 투과율 Map구성과 압력조절 등을 이용한 제어기법의 타당성을 검토하였으며, 실제공정에서 가능한 여러 가지의 결함이 있는 경우에 대하여 제어를 시도하여 만족한 만한 수지의 충전을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In case of performing resin transfer molding (RTM), race track effects and non-uniform fiber volume fraction may cause undesirable resin flow pattern and thus result in dry spots, which affect the mechanical properties of the finished parts. In this study, a real time RTM control strategy to reduce these unfavorable effects is proposed. Through numerical simulations and experiments, the validity of the proposed scheme is demonstrated.

무인기의 자동 장주비행 및 8자 비행모드 설계 (Design of Auto Race-Track and Figure-8 Flight Mode for UAV)

  • 본 논문에서는 무인기의 다양한 비행모드 중 자동선회 모드의 확장을 위해 자동 장주비행 모드 (auto race-track mode)와 8자 비행모드 (Figure 8 mode)를 구현하기 위한 알고리즘과 비행로직을 제안하고, 이에 대한 시뮬레이션 평가를 수행하여 제안된 비행모드의 검증을 수행하였다. 일반적으로 자동선회 모드는 지정된 선회반경을 유지하는 원선회 비행 (circle flight)을 지칭하게 되는데, 자동 장주비행 모드와 8자 비행 모드를 구현하게 되면 이착륙 안정성 증대와 수행 임무영역을 확장할 수 있게 된다. 이러한 자동 장주비행 모드와 8자 비행모드의 구현을 위한 알고리즘과 비행체의 위치 및 선회방향에 관계없이 비행모드를 구성할 수 있는 비행로직 구현을 정리하였으며, 제안된 알고리즘과 비행로직의 검증을 위해 중형급 무인기를 대상으로 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

K대학병원 병동부 이중복도형의 개선을 위한 사용자 요구 조사연구 (A Study on the User Needs for Renovation of Race Track Type of Nursing Units in K University Hospital)

  • Purpose: General hospital in korea is getting large-scaled, specialized and upgraded. So, nursing unit of race track type has been advanced along with a spatial organization, building equipment and environmental approach. This study is to search the guidelines for renovation of nursing unit with race track type in the case of K university hospital in Daejeon. Methods: 9 cases of recently opened general hospital has been analyzed for spatial and environmental design solution. Questionnaires and interviews about user needs of nursing staff, patient and visitors, have been conducted for a nursing care system and facility of nursing units in K university hospital. Results: The user needs are represented as followings. Center core public zone in each floor plan and center core nursing station and supporting areas in nursing unit are good for an adjacency and separation of spatial organization. Toilet of group patient room is necessary to equip for easy, safe and infective aspects, and so toilet install will decrease the patient number and increase the nursing care service. Hall type of station front is good for visibility and observation. It is appropriate to renovate into south facing group patient room for privacy, enough space for nursing care facility and supporting area, enough width of door to move portable medical equipment, room for medical doctor and practical student, noise absorbing of day room. Implications: Upgrading the nursing care service and facility equipment is necessary to reflect the user needs and cooperate with hospital management.

  • Generally superconducting generators(S. G.'s) will be classified into 2 types according to their field coil shape. The first one is race-trace type and the other is saddle type. Race-track type S.G.'s have almost the same structure with conventional salient pole generators which are being used as largely small scale machines with more than 4 poles. On the other hand saddle type S.G.'s correspond to conventional cylindrical generators with 2 poles used for large turbines in power plants. In this paper 1MVA S.G. with saddle type field coil is electromagnetically designed and based on the research results from development of 30kVA S.G. with race-track type field oils in our group. other parts such as cooling systems and power leads are presented.

다구찌 직교배열법을 이용한 포뮬러 레이스카 전륜 업라이트의 최적설계 (Optimal Design of the Front Upright of Formula Race Car Using Taguchi's Orthogonal Array)

  • Formula race car is generally recognized as a vehicle which is optimally designed for on-road race track with the regulations of race host bodies. Especially, the uprights of suspension system decisively have effects on the performance of cornering and stability of race car's driving performance, which are very important factors in the design of race car. This paper is a study of optimal upright design of F1800 grade formula race car which are normally used in professional race circuit in Korea. To design optimally the front upright of F1800 formula race car, Taguchi's orthogonal array, which is known for more useful method than full factorial design experimental method in cost and time, is used with CAE method such as FEM analysis. And the result of this paper shows that Taguchi's orthogonal array employed for this optimal design is very useful for designing the front upright of race car by minimizing its weight as well as keeping its safety factor as enough as designer wants in the view of quality, cost and delivery at the early design step.

  • Race-track type superconducting coils are used for wiggler magnets of accelerators and field coils of superconducting generators(S.C.G) and so on. The shape is different from ordinary solenoidal type magnet, so the manufacturing situation and conditions become different and moreover according to these results the output characteristics of magnet also becomes different. In this paper we are dealing with race-track type coil design that is inserted into 30(kVA) S.C.G which will be manufactured before we make l(MVA) S.C.G plant. The design procedure is based on two dimensional electromagnetic analysis including laplace equations in cylindrical coordinate.

  • Generally large synchronous rotating machines with 2 poles have more merits than the others with more than 2 poles Superconducting synchronous rotating machines also have the same tendency, but they have different structure from conventional ones because of no magnetic core inside of the rotor. As the result, design approaches of the superconducting field coils are also different, which would be classified into 2 types according to their coil shapes. In this paper several types of superconducting field coils are introduced for 2 pole superconducting machine design and then the feasibility of each type is considered. Moreover, based on the consideration. 1MVA superconducting generator(S.G.) with saddle type field coil is designed electromagnetically.

Design and fabrication of race-track type field coil for the high temperature superconduction generator

  • The fabrication and characteristics of HTS race-track type field coil for generators was carried out. Field coils are composed of 3 pancake coils wound by 37-filamental Bi-2223/Ag-alloy tapes. The winding machine is horizontal type. The critical currents (I$_c$) of the superconducting tapes were measured with variation of bending strain and external magnetic fields. I$_c$ of both whole field coils and 3 pancake coils were measured as a function of temperature. At 77K under the self-field, I$_c$ of whole field coils was 12A, while in the case of middle pancake coil, I$_c$ was 15A. The distribution of magnetic field B was obtained, using 3-D FEM. Our simulation showed that maximums of B${\bot}$A in x-y plane were locally distributed in both the upper and the lower coils. In addition, the fabrication processes and the characteristics of field coil are described.
