  • In order to assess risk as a basic step for securing safety, it requires to select risk factors and determine the frequency and the severity of the consequence of each risk factor. This research adopted common risk factors among well-known maritime risk assessment models, and proposed objective criteria to gauge the risk level of each risk factor. The starting points of risk evolution were chosen for criteria according to related studies and seafarers' experience. The rate of risk appearance over the criteria is named as the incidence of risk factor. Therefore, the total risk level is expressed as the combination of incidence of each risk factor and severity. This quantitative method would be applied to measuring and comparing the risk level of target maritime zones, and it would also be useful to survey which risk factor be focused for reducing the total risk of a certain maritime zone.

  • Construction industry is a complex industry which should be invested with plenty capital, manpower and resources. Investment factors and inner and outer environmental factors should be managed systemically in terms with risk factors possible to occur. It maximizes the profit to establish construction management by managing risk systemically. While previous studies were executed with risk related to some special progress lively, studies about risk in managing construction company leave much to be desired. Therefore, this study examined risk in the whole construction management, showed the checklist and deduced the quantitative factors through questionnaire analysis from specialists. Also, priority and grade of construction management factors were evaluated by analyzing weight of construction risk factors.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand factors of risk perception and purchase obstruction by consumer characteristics and purchase experience of clothing in online. The collection of the research materials was progressed by online and offline. Out of 374 usable questionnaires used for examining this study, 278 questionnaires were collected from offline and 107 questionnaires were collected from online. Frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, One-way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis using SPSS WIN 12.0 were conducted. Three factors of perceived risk were extracted: harmonic/image, quality/shopping process, payments. Based on these dimensions, ANOVA was conducted. The results indicated that the more purchasing experience people had, the less the extent of perceived risk they got, and quality/shopping process risk mostly among them. As the factors which obstruct purchasing decision, a security obstruction, a reliability obstruction, a convenient obstruction and an information insufficient obstruction are extracted. Also, the factors have got the result of same aspects as the perceived risk recognized by the Internet shopping experience. Meaningful differences between groups appear at security obstruction, reliability obstruction, and convenient obstruction. Perceived risk almost influenced on purchase obstruction when purchasing clothes in Internet shopping mall. When consumers perceiving harmony/image risk highly make decisions, they usually hesitate or abandon due to reliability obstruction, convenient obstruction. All the factors: including security obstruction, reliability obstruction, convenient obstruction and information insufficient obstruction made consumers perceiving quality/shopping process risk highly obstruct purchase decision.

  • It is critical to manage risks to complete IS(Information Systems) projects successfully. Identifying risk factors would be the first step for the project risk management. Previous research has discussed the issue with various points of view, such as different risk factors based on project types and roles involved in their projects. This paper empirically explored how people perceive different risk factors by project development methodology, between self-developing IS using programming language like C, Visual Basic and adapting software package already developed by software venders like ERP, CRM packages. There are researches regarding project risk factors for project management in the several point of views. And there are also researches regarding comparison between self-developing and adapting software packages methodology in IS project. However, there are no study on project risk factors comparison between self-developing IS using programming language and adapting software packages already developed by software venders in IS project. This research can be differentiated from previous ones, because it was considered both point of project risk management and development methodology in IS project. This research results implied meaningful messages to enterprise company to be planned IS projects and people who involved in IS projects. They should consider and need to prepare differently according to each development methodology for preventing project risks. It makes them reduce project risks in each case and complete successfully IS projects. Especially, if they have no experiences for implementing software packages, they can forecast the project risks and prepare them in advance.

  • Purpose: It is important to note that the relative importance of risk factors should be identified to successfully complete the remodeling project of general hospital. Approached by analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the present study aimed to systematically evaluate the risk factors for remodeling of general hospital. Methods: The present work classified the risk factors of general hospital remodeling into four major categories including the requirements survey stage, planning and design stage, dismantling and construction stage, and maintenance stage. In addition, four sub-categories were derived from each major category factor. Furthermore, five major categories and four subcategories were selected to be considered from the perspectives of two stakeholders of contractor and constructor. The relative importance of the major and sub-categories factors was calculated using the AHP technique on the survey data collected from 49 respondents who participated in the survey study. Results: The results indicate that, the risk factor of requirements survey stage was found to be the most important risk factor to consider among the four major categories of factors. Also, insufficient preliminary investigation, design inconsistencies in architecture/mechanics/electricity, occurrence of safety accidents, and insufficient review of various equipment capacities and performances were found to have the highest priorities of each subcategory factor group included in the four major categories. From the perspective of contractor, the error in predicting the construction period was found to be the most important risk factor. The occurrence of safety accidents during construction was found to be the most important risk factor to be considered by constructor. Implications: The result of the current work should provide important insights and guidelines for the risk management activity that contributes to controlling the project time, cost, and scope required for general hospital remodeling.

  • Most construction companies recognize the necessity of risk management. The practical application, however, is not easy because of the absence of systematic procedure for risk management and the difficulty in objectification of subjective risk factors. This study suggests a systematic procedure and a models. In the first place for those researches, this study analyzes the present condition of risk management in the construction industry. The developed model can be used as a risk management tool that enables evaluation of construction risk factors by quantified method, and it provides project managers with the methods to prevent risk and to deal with potential risk factors in the planning and construction phases. The results of this study could be used as references for related researches because this study attempts to develop a systematic tool for risk management including risk identification, risk analysis. risk action phases.
