In WSN, at the initial stage, sensor nodes are randomly deployed over the region of interest, and self-configure the clustered networks by grouping a bunch of sensor nodes and selecting a cluster header among them. Specially, in WSN environment, in which the administrator's intervention is restricted, the self-configuration capability is essential to establish a power-conservative WSN which provides broad sensing coverage and communication coverage. In this paper, we propose a communication coverage-aware cluster head election algorithm for Herearchical WSNs which consists of communication coverage-aware of the Base station is the cluster head node is elected and a clustering.
This paper presents a general-purpose design scheme of a filter bank (FB)-based radio frequency (RF) transceiver that operates across the entire ultra-high frequency (UHF) TV band from 470 MHz to 698 MHz and complies with the TV white space (TVWS) regulatory requirements. To this end, an intermediate frequency (IF) band-pass filter (BPF) with a sharp skirt characteristic is considered as a solution for handling the incoming signals from a baseband modem. Specifically, an FB-based BPF structure with four ceramic resonator filters that effectively rejects unwanted signals is proposed to extract a desired signal in the TV band. Achievable data rates of a cognitive radio system (CRS) employing the proposed FB-based RF transceiver at the application layer are investigated in both wired and wireless environments. The service coverage of the CRS network is measured according to several modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) of the CRS. The results show that the coverage of a wireless network in a nearly open area can be extended by more than 9.3 km in the TVWS. Experimental results also confirm that the proposed FB-based RF transceiver is adequate for utilization in TVWS applications.
To investigate the DTV coverage especially in downtown areas and improve the performance of DTV receivers, it is necessary to capture the receiving DTV signals that contain the complex characteristics of the real-world RF environments and regenerate them in a laboratory without the performance degradation. In this paper, we developed a DTV RF capture and regeneration system adapting digital signal processing and high speed hard disk storage techniques and analyze its characteristics. The system can capture and replay the DTV RF signals based on a real-time condition in a hard disk. There Is no time limit for capturing RF data within the installed storage capacity. We can expect various Possible applications for this system such as a tool for the development of the receiver performance analysis, design and analysis for the DTV coverage areas, etc.
Vessels can operate with their Automatic Identification System (AIS) turned off, prompting the development of strategies to identify them. Among these, utilizing satellites to collect radio frequency (RF) data in the absence of AIS has emerged as the most effective and practical approach. The purpose of this study is to develop a matching algorithm for RF with AIS data and find the RF's applicability to classify a suspected ship. Thus, a matching procedure utilizing three RF datasets and AIS data was employed to identify ships in the Yellow Sea and the Korea Strait. The matching procedure was conducted based on the proximity to AIS points, ensuring accuracy through various distance-based sections, including 2 km, 3 km, and 6 km from the AIS-based estimated points. Within the RF coverage, the matching results from the first RF dataset and AIS data identified a total of 798 ships, with an overall matching rate of 78%. In the cases of the second and third RF datasets, 803 and 825 ships were matched, resulting in an overall matching rate of 84.3% and 74.5%, respectively. The observed results were partially influenced by differences in RF and AIS coverage. Within the overlapped region of RF and AIS data, the matching rate ranged from 80.2% to 98.7%, with an average of 89.3%, with no duplicate matches to the same ship.
5G service uses mid-band (n78) than existing mobile communication frequencies, so it is necessary to improve 5G coverage by utilizing low-band frequencies below 2 GHz. To this end, the application of Dynamic Spectrum Sharing technology of LTE and 5G-NR system using most of the low-band frequencies is required. In this paper, signaling overhead factors for DSS application and RF issues for terminal implementation are derived, and signaling overhead ratios from the respective perspectives of 5G-NR and LTE for the 1.8GHz band (50MHz width) that can utilize wide-bandwidth among low-band frequencies are estimated. Also handset RF issues were analyzed. Based on the analysis results, if DSS technology using low band is applied, it is expected that excellent 5G service quality can be provided due to 5G coverage improvement when LTE traffic quickly migrates to 5G-NR.

This paper describes how to ensure safety of train by guaranteeing stable and continuous communication in RF-CBTC. CBTC System uses the wireless communication between onboard and wayside so that safety of wireless communication is the most important. Losing the position of train causes vital problem of train service. By losing the position of train, the other trains are blocked in the block and the train move by emergency mode so headway and safety cannot guaranteed. Therefore, safety is ensured by redundancy of wireless equipment. One of the ways to make redundancy is redundancy of equipment. However, the redundancy of equipment spends a lot of money to avoid interference in limited place like underground. Continuous communication is guaranteed by means of redundancy of wireless communication coverage to solve the problems even though one of the equipment is broken.
In this research, design and fabrication of marine repeater capable to extend communication coverage in monitoring system of fishing gear automatic identification, which is one of implementation method of the real-name electric fishing gear system declared by Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2016, is reported. The proposed marine repeater is fabricated in a form of RF repeater with interference cancellation system (ICS), which can cancel the oscillation due to feedback signal between service antenna and link antenna. In design process, we secure the isolation of 30 dB between service antenna and link antenna. It is confirmed that when the level of feedback signal into repeater input be lower of 15 dB than repeater gain, error vector magnitude due to oscillation can be lower than the performance criterion of 6%, from the test verification. It is expected that the service coverage will be extended by applying the developed marine ICS RF repeater into marine IoT network including monitoring system of fishing gear automatic identification.

In this paper, we developed a DTV RF (Radio frequency) capture, analysis, and regeneration system adapting digital signal processing and high speed hard disk interfacing techniques and analyzed characteristics of captured RF signal. This system can be used in the various field of DTV transmission because this system can capture the receiving real DTV signals and analyze captured RF signals that contain the complex characteristics of the real-world RF environments and regenerate it in a laboratory without the performance degradation. The system can capture and replay the DTV RF signals in real-time on hard disk. Therefore, there is no limit for the amount of captured data with in the installed storage capacity. We can expect various possible applications for this system such as a tool for the development of the receiver performance analysis, design, and analysis for the DTV coverage areas, etc. This system can also be used as RF signal analyzer.

Visible light communication is a communication method using light, and it has advantage of ensuring security in a single space as compared with RF communication. However, in the area outside the visible line of the light, communication disconnection occurs. Therefore, this paper proposes a relay module to overcome the coverage extension and communication disconnection phenomenon of visible light communication. The proposed relay module transmits and receives data of visible light communication by sequentially transmitting data packets including target ID through adjacent visible light module. Through experimentation of data transmission, we confirmed the extension of the transmission range and the data reception in the area outside the line of sight.

A new phased-array quadrature RF coil for one or two RF acquisition channels is developed for spine MR imaging. Quadrature RF coils for MRI have been useful to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by $"\sqrt{2}"$ using two orthogonal RF coils in combination [1]. More recently, the phased-array RF coil has been proposed for more improvement of SNR by using an array of RF coil elements with a reduced size and coverage for each element. Two new schemes are proposed for the new phased-array quadrature RF coil as follows : (1) Proper overlapping of two quadrature RF coils thus removing the mutual inductance and (2) Attaching preamplifiers right after the coil section and combining the signal with proper phase delays. The coil has been implemented for receive- only mode. It has been tested through phantom and volunteer imaging. The experimental results show the utility of the proposed RF coil.
