A Real-Time Surveillance System for Vaccine Cold Chain Based o n Internet of Things Technology

  • In this study, a real-time surveillance system using Internet of Things technology is proposed for vaccine cold chains. This system fully visualizes vaccine transport and storage. It comprises a 4G gateway module, lowpower and low-cost wireless temperature and humidity collection module (WTHCM), cloud service software platform, and phone app. The WTHCM is installed in freezers or truck-mounted cold chain cabinets to collect the temperature and humidity information of the vaccine storage environment. It then transmits the collected data to a gateway module in the radiofrequency_physical layer (RF_PHY). The RF_PHY is an interface for calling the bottom 2.4-GHz transceiver, which can realize a more flexible communication mode. The gateway module can simultaneously receive data from multiple acquisition terminals, process the received data depending on the protocol, and transmit the collated data to the cloud server platform via 4G or Wi-Fi. The cloud server platform primarily provides data storage, chart views, short-message warnings, and other functions. The phone app is designed to help users view and print temperature and humidity data concerning the transportation and storage of vaccines anytime and anywhere. Thus, this system provides a new vaccine management model for ensuring the safety and reliability of vaccines to a greater extent.

  • In this paper, we designed, constructed and evaluated the system for the FTTH suited to a residence and apartment using CWDM-PON techniques. These systems have capacity to service at 100Mbps rate to 384 users in the same breath. Also, the services include the internet, CATV, IPTV and wireless LAN. In the case of wire network, the data could be transmitted by UTP cable and optical fiber and case of wireless one, the data transmitted using WLAN. The distance between the cental office and the user is 20km and the data rate is 100Mbps maximum. Of course, the optical network used just one fiber optical core. For the basic material, we obtained the characteristics of optical transceiver module, Mux/Demux and transmission qualities depends on the environment.

  • In this paper, digital ultra-narrowband Walky-Talky using direct conversion method for CQPSK modulation scheme is implemented with satisfying the requirements of APCO P25. RF transceiver design and implementation scheme that minimize the influence of DC-offset and AC-coupling at ultra-narrowband is proposed. This scheme also minimizes the influence of nonlinear characteristic at power amplifier fir CQPSK modulation method. Test results of full system including DSP module and direct conversion RF transceiver show that FCC emission mask at 36.8 dBm PEP meets the standard requirements. The characteristic of receiver AGC by PWM control signal is linear at 40 dB dynamic range and voice communication at input power level of -116 dBm is successful. Also it is verified that the performance of BER versus frequency offset and versus SNR meets the standard requirements.

  • 100 MHz bandwidth and 1 Gbit/s data speed are needed in LTE-advanced for the next generation mobile communication system. Therefore, spectrum aggregation method has been studied recently to extend usable frequency bands. Also bandwidth utilization is increased since vacant frequencies are used to communicate. However, transceiver structure requires the digital RF and SDR. Therefore, frequency synthesizer and PA must operate over wide-bandwidth and RF impairments also increases in transceiver. Uplink of LTE advanced uses DFT-S OFDM using plural power amplifier. The effect of ICI increases in frequency domain of receiver due to phase noise and IQ imbalance. In this paper, we analyze influences of ICI in frequency domain of receiver considering phase noise and IQ imbalance in multiband system. Also, we separate phase noise and IQ imbalance effect from channel response in frequency domain of uplink system. And we propose a method to estimate the channel exactly and to compensate IQ imbalance and phase noise. Simulation result shows that the proposed method achieves the 2 dB performance gain of BER=$10^{-4}$.

Design and simulation of a rectangular planar printed circuit board coil for nuclear magnetic resonance, radio frequency energy harvesting, and wireless power transfer devices

  • In this study, a planar printed circuit board (PCB) coil with FR4 substrate was designed and simulated using the finite element method, and the results were analyzed in the frequency domain. This coil can be used in wireless power transfer (WPT) as a transmitter or receiver, eliminating wires. It can also be used as the receiver in radio frequency energy-harvesting (RF-EH) systems by optimizing the planar PCB coil to convert radio-wave energy into electricity, and it can be employed as an excitation (transmitter) or receiver coil in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. This PCB coil can replace the conventional coil, yielding a reduced occupied volume, a fine-tuned design, reduced weight, and increased efficiency. Based on the calculated gain, power, and electromagnetic and electric field results, this planar PCB coil can be implemented in WPT, NMR spectroscopy, and RF-EH devices with minor changes. In applications such as NMR spectroscopy, it can be used as a transceiver planar PCB coil. In this design, at frequencies of 915 MHz and 40 MHz with 5 mm between coils, we received powers of 287.3 μW and 480 μW, respectively, which are suitable for an NMR coil or RF-EH system.

  • Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) standard has been proposed to separate the baseband signal processing unit from the Radio Frequency (RF) unit at base station system mainly for reducing the cost of base station systems through open-source interfaces between the two units. To satisfy the performance metrics in various scenarios, several fronthaul functional split options were presented by O-RAN. Amongst these options, the split option 7-2x is widely adopted in practical applications due to its excellent trade-off between the required bandwidth and RU overhead. In this paper, we present a hardware implementation of a base station system that is compliant with the Category B of O-RAN split option 7-2x. It consists of O-DU and O-RU implemented with a commercial off-the-shelf Digital Signal Processor and RF transceiver, respectively. The performance of the proposed base station system is evaluated in terms of Bit Error Rate and received signal power as well as the required fronthaul bandwidth. Through various experimental tests, we have observed that the proposed system reduces the fronthaul bandwidth nearly by 89.7% compared to the conventional system that dose not employ the O-RAN standard.

  • This paper presents a lateral resistive contact RF MEMS switch using comb drive. Our goal was to fabricate the RF MEMS switch with high reliability and good RF characteristics for front end module in wireless transceiver system. Therefore, comb drive is used for large contact force in order to achieve low insertion loss and small off-state capacitance in order to achieve high isolation. The single crystalline silicon is used for mechanical reliability. As a result, the developed switch showed insertion loss less than 0.44 dB at 2 GHz, isolation greater than 60 dB, and low actuation voltage at 26 V.

  • This paper presents a three dimensional stacked pad area away (PAA) package configuration as an implementation method of radio frequency (RF) circuits. 224MHz RF circuits of intelligence traffic system(ITS) were constructed with the stacked PAA RF pakage configuration. In the process of manufacturing the stacked PAA RF pakage, RF circuits were partitioned to subareas following their function and operating frequency. Each area of circuits separated to each subunits. The operating characteristics of RF PAA package module and the electrical properties of each subunits were examined. The measurement of electrical parameters for solder balls which were interconnects for stacked PAA RF packages showed that the parasitic capacitance and inductance were 30fF and 120pH, respectively, which might be negligible in PAA RF packaging system. HP 4396B network/spectrum analyzer revealed that the amplification gain of a receiver and transmitter at 224 MHz was 22dB and 27dB, respectively. The gain was 3dB lower than designed values. The difference was probably generated from fabrication process of the circuits by employing commercial standard

  • The clinical acceptance of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) system has been more rapid than that of the other medical image diagnosis system(X-ray, CT, etc) with the advantage of nonhazardous nature, high resolution capability, potential for chemically specified imaging. MRI system is composed of super conducting magnet, gradient fields, rf transceiver, system controller and imaging software technology. In this paper, introducing the principle of magnetic resonance imaging, it proposes the implementation of PC-based MRI system.
