Optical wireless communication, or free space optics, is a promising solution for backhauls in sixth-generation mobile systems. However, the susceptibility of optical links to weather conditions has led to FSO links being furnished with radio frequency (RF) backups. These Hybrid FSO/RF systems provide enhanced link availability but lead to RF resource wastage. Cognitive radio technology, in contrast, is well known for its optimal use of RF resources and may be combined with an FSO link to create a Cognitive Hybrid FSO/RF system. This work uses such a system to analyze a configuration for a mobile backhaul in sixth-generation mobile systems. This configuration can seamlessly coexist with established large scale RF cellular networks. The performance of this configuration is analyzed with respect to outage probability and average bit error by considering the impact of optical channel turbulence, misalignment loss, RF interference, and noise. Mathematical closed-form expressions are verified by simulations.
Since OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technology is applied into LTE(Long Term Evolution)/LTE-Advanced system, it is important to estimate the spectrum sharing and to analyze interference in LTE system based on the characteristics of frequency assignment. Therefore, in this paper, a study on the adjacent channel interference between two operators/systems to provide LTE services. For co-existence of LTE systems, the relative capacity loss and the relative throughput loss in uplink and downlink have been simulated to evaluated ACIR(Adjacent Channel Interference Ratio) values with 5% loss rate. Some parameters such as the location of user, aggressor bandwidth, and the separation offset affect the required ACIR value for spectrum sharing, and these results and interference analysis schemes in this article can provide reliable reference for LTE RF standardization and efficient frequency utilization in future.

In this paper, a GaAs MESFET single-ended resistive mixer with high linearity and isolation is designed. The bias voltage of this mixer is applied only gate of GaAs MESFET to use the channel resistance. The LO is applied the gate and the RF is applied the drain through 7-pole hairpin bandpass filter to obtain the proper isolation thru LO-RF. The IF is extracted from the source with short circuit and lowpass filter. Using extracted equivalent circuits for LO and RF, conversion loss is calculated and compared with result of harmonic balance analysis. Measured conversion loss of this S-band down converter mixer is 8.2~10.5dB by considering the measured 3.0~3.4dB RF 7-pole hairpin bandpass filter loss and IP3in is 26.5dBm at Vg=-0.85~-1.0V in distortion performance.

In this paper, we have studied the tracking system with a single channel monopulse receiver that has a comparative advantage of costs, size, weight, and power consumption over the general 3-channel monopulse receivers. After the single channel monopulse system was composed of an antenna, a monopulse receiver, a servo unit, a RF signal processor unit and a power supply unit, we analyzed the basic tracking performance of the tracking error angle and the pointing loss. And we proved the tracking performance to a moving target in the outdoor environment. On the Analysis of the tracking test results, the single channel monopulse system shows a equal or higher performance over the general 3-channel monopulse system and also has advantages of the system implementation. Also, it is concluded that this study is useful to apply a single channel monopulse receiver with benefits of production price and miniaturization when the monopulse tracking systems will be developed in the future.

This paper presents an implementation methodology of unified PCS base station system which, is capable of providing PCS services for 3 PCS carriers concurrently. We have built up an unified PCS BTS using a unification module, which is consisted of a multi-channel combiner, duplexer, LNA, power divider, feeder line, and a common set of antennas. PCS unification module is featured with wide-band and high power handling capability and electrical characteristics like insertion loss, isolation have been greatly improved. It was shown that performance of the system in terms of Ec/Io and mobile receive power within the total 30MHz PCS frequency range is uniformly acceptable and measured signal quality and coverage are equivalent to that of the individual PCS base station.

This paper describes a system for location tracking wireless sensor nodes in an indoor environment. The sensor reading used for the location estimation is the received signal strength indication (RSSI) as given by an RF interface. By tagging users with a mobile node and deploying a number of reference nodes at fixed position in the room, the received signal strength indicator can be used to determine the position of tagged users. The system combines Euclidean distance technique with signal strength obtained by measurement driven log-normal path loss model of 2.4 GHz wireless channel. The experimental results demonstrated the ability of this system to estimate the location with a error less than 1.3m.

This paper fabricated and analyzed the image rejection mixer that uses FET's channel resistance. It can be applied for capacity 64QAM that has 50MHz~90MHz of IF band, 8.17GHz of LO frequency and 8.08~8.12GHz of RF band. When IF input power is -20dBm and LO input power is 10dBm, RF output power is obtained -33.2dBm. In this case, conversion loss is 12.9dB, the suppression of 14.3dB for LO frequency and 10.4dB for image frequency. The result of two tone test shows great IMD characteristics with 51.7dBc.

Recently the frequency assignment and the technical specifications of UWB systems for communications are completed. Therefore many UWB systems have been developed. In our country $3.1{\sim}4.8GHz$ and $7.2{\sim}10.2GHz$ are assigned for UWB systems for communications. When we consider RF technologies and the easy implementation of UWB systems, UWB systems used in the low band are more developed than high band systems. In this paper we design and implement a BPF for low band UWB systems by means of considering the easy implementation of UWB systems. The designed and implemented BPFs are low band filter and low band channel filters. The measured results of the low band filter show that the filter has 21.85dB and 17.91dB attenuation at 3.1GHz and 4.8GHz, 1.53GHz of -10dB bandwidth and 2dB of insertion loss. Low band can be divided into 3 channels with 500MHz of the channel bandwidth. The channel filter for channel number 1 has the characteristics of 24.85dB attenuation at 3.1GHz, 0.61GHz of -10dB bandwidth and 1.87dB of insertion loss. The filter for channel 3 in low band has 19.2dB of attenuation at 4.8GHz, 0.49GHz of -10dB bandwidth and 2.49dB of insertion loss.
In this paper, we propose a digital transceiver unit design for in-building of 5G optical repeaters that extends the coverage of 5G mobile communication network services and connects to a stable wireless network in a building. The digital transceiver unit for driving the proposed 5G optical repeater is composed of 4 blocks: a signal processing unit, an RF transceiver unit, an optical input/output unit, and a clock generation unit. The signal processing unit plays an important role, such as a combination of a basic operation of the CPRI interface, a 4-channel antenna signal, and response to external control commands. It also transmits and receives high-quality IQ data through the JESD204B interface. CFR and DPD blocks operate to protect the power amplifier. The RF transmitter/receiver converts the RF signal received from the antenna to AD, is transmitted to the signal processing unit through the JESD204B interface, and DA converts the digital signal transmitted from the signal processing unit to the JESD204B interface and transmits the RF signal to the antenna. The optical input/output unit converts an electric signal into an optical signal and transmits it, and converts the optical signal into an electric signal and receives it. The clock generator suppresses jitter of the synchronous clock supplied from the CPRI interface of the optical input/output unit, and supplies a stable synchronous clock to the signal processing unit and the RF transceiver. Before CPRI connection, a local clock is supplied to operate in a CPRI connection ready state. XCZU9CG-2FFVC900I of Xilinx's MPSoC series was used to evaluate the accuracy of the digital transceiver unit for driving the 5G optical repeater proposed in this paper, and Vivado 2018.3 was used as the design tool. The 5G optical repeater digital transceiver unit proposed in this paper converts the 5G RF signal input to the ADC into digital and transmits it to the JIG through CPRI and outputs the downlink data signal received from the JIG through the CPRI to the DAC. And evaluated the performance. The experimental results showed that flatness, Return Loss, Channel Power, ACLR, EVM, Frequency Error, etc. exceeded the target set value.

In the context-aware services, localization is an important technical element. Due to the easy to use and low cost, it was widely enabled with RF properties such as RSSI. However, RSSI is known to be not appropriated for indoor localization, because it tends to show big variance in time and is greatly effected with the multipath. This paper proposes a distance estimation process and its constituted methods for indoor localization, by making use of the other WLAN's RF property, CSI(Channel State Information). Firstly we define a comprehensive localization process, and suggest a calibration algorithm of environment factors in the path loss propagation model. Then, by implementing them with a commercial WLAN module, an the proposed process and methods are evaluated in terms of usefulness.
