  • KISTI(Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information) has developed the $\boxDr$KISTI-ACOMS(KISTI-Article COntribution Management System)$\boxUl$ as part of the national project for automating the process of processing academic information by societies, in order to convert journals published by academic societies in Korea into an electronic from and make them accessible on the Internet. This system was developed in the year 2001 and has since been distributed to societies free of charge. The number of societies requesting the service has risen recently, which prompted us to take more recommendations of the societies that adopt this system into account in expanding and standardizing the area of service being provided by the system. This paper will investigate the functions of KISTI-ACOMS constructed for use in the Korean Society of Environment and Ecology and list the functions and requirements for the next system to enhance the on-line paper management system.

  • This study aims to measure stretch rate of standard weight in the $2{\times}1$ rib stitch and $2{\times}2$ rib stitch, and to apply features of rib stitch to the knit pattern. The reviewer examined the sample knit for test with 100% wool, $2/48's{\times}2$, 12 gauge, and then made knit patterns and sample clothes for test considering stretch rate of standard weight of 10gf, 15gf, 20gf, 25gf based on the results from the former test, and finally estimated the try-outs for sample clothes. This study came out with the following results: From the functional estimate of knit patterns made by standard stretch rate of each stitch, the 20gf weight sample clothes of $2{\times}1$ and $2{\times}2$ rib stitchs were in high estimate. For the bust, B/4~ -4.6cm knit pattern was made of $2{\times}1$ rib stitch, B/4~5.3cm of $2{\times}2$ rib stitch. In conclusion, because $2{\times}1$ and $2{\times}2$ rib stitchs has the much higher stretch rate in the direction of the course than $0{\times}0$ ad $1{\times}1$ rib stitchs, high stretch rate of standard weight should be applied to the case of making knit wear. It is expected that this will lead stable sizing and measurement system when used in making knit patterns, and satisfy knit wearers' various needs.

  • This study aims to measure stretch rate of standard weight in the direction of the knit stitch course by the difference in the way of weaving rib stitch, the most elastic stitch of all the knit stitches and to apply features of rib stitch to the knit pattern. The reviewer examined the sample knit for test with 100% wool, 2/48's 2, 12 gauge, and then made knit patterns and sample clothes for test considering stretch rate of standard weight of 10gf, l5gf, 20gf, 25gf based on the results from the former test, and finally estimated the try-outs for sample clothes. This study came out with the following results. From the functional estimate of knit patterns made by standard stretch rate of each stitch, the l5gf weight sample clothes of 0×0 and 1×1 rib stitches looking similar to plain stitch. For the bust, B/4-1.0㎝ knit pattern was made of 0×0 stitch, B/4-1.2㎝ of 1×1 rib stitch. In conclusion, because rib stitch has the much higher stretch rate in the direction of the course than other stitches, low stretch rate of standard weight should be applied to the case of making knit wear. It is expected that this will lead stable sizing and measurement system when used in making knit patterns, and satisfy knit wearers' various needs.

  • To guarantee the inter-reviewer reliability is very important in evaluating the quality of large number of clinical research papers by multiple reviewers. We cannot find reports on statistical methods for evaluating reliability for multiple raters in clinical research field. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the statistical methods focused on kappa statistic and five kinds of loglinear models for, which can be applied when evaluating the reliability of multiple raters. We have applied these methods to the result of a project, in which seven reviewers have evaluated the quality of 33 papers with regard to four aspects of paper contents including study hypothesis, study design, study population, study method, data analysis and interpretation. Among the five loglinear models including Symmetry model, Conditional symmetry model, Quasi-symmetry model, Independence model, and Quasi-independence model, Quasi-symmetry model shows the best model of fitting. And the level of reliability among seven reviewers revealed to be acceptable as meaningful.

  • The techniques which have been used for the fecal examination of ruminant infected with the pancreatic flukes, Eurytrema Pancreaticum, were reviewer in their efficiency to detect the ova. One of modified fecal examination: H.F.E. (hydrochloric acid-formalin-ether) sedimentation method was devised in this study. Efficiency in the detecting ability of the fluke eggs with H.F.E. sedimentation method was determined by a series of repeat tests. Among 20 head of cattle known to harbor 1-5 adult worms of the pancreatic fluke, 75% of the infected cattle were detected, and among 60 head of cattle known to harbor more than 6 adult worms, 95% of the infected cattle were detected with H.F.E. sedimentation method. The procedures of the H.F.E. sedimentation method are as follows; 1) Take the sample 5-10 gm., emulsify throughly with 20 ml. of 50% hydrochloric acid in a cup. 2) Strain this mixture through one or two layers of wet surgical gauze into 15ml. centrifuge tube. 3) Washing the cup with 5ml. of 50% hydrochloric acid and strain again. 4) Centrifuge at 2,300 rpm. for 2 minutes. 5) Pour off the supernatant fluid. 6) After the sediment mixed with 10% formalin, stand for 5 minutes. 7) Add 2-3ml. of ether, shake vigorously up and down, after the top of the tube covered with thumb. 8) Centrifuge at 2,300 rpm. for 2 minutes. 9) Loosen the fecal plug in the tube by ringing with an applicator stick. 10) Quickly, but carefully, pour of all, but the bottom layer of sediment. 11) Thoroughly mix the sediment, pour on a slide (or pick up it with a pipett), mount with a cover glass. 12) Examine carefully.

  • Background: In 1997 the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editors (KAMJE) instituted a program to evaluate member journals. Journals that passed the initial evaluation were indexed in the KoreaMed. Here, we report changes in measures of quality of the KAMJE member journals during the last 20 years. Methods: Quality measures used in the study comprised 3 assessment categories; self-assessment by journal editors, assessment of the journals by KAMJE reviewers, and by Korean health science librarians. Each used detailed criteria to score the journals on a scale of 0 to 5 or 6 in multiple dimensions. We compared scores at baseline evaluation and those after 7 years for 129 journals and compared improvements in journals indexed vs. not-indexed by the Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded; SCIE). Results: Among 251 KAMJE member journals at the end of 2015, 227 passed evaluation criteria and 129 (56%) had both baseline and 7-year follow-up assessment data. The journals showed improvement overall (increase in median [interquartile range; IQR] score from baseline, 0.47 [0.64]; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.44-0.61; P < 0.001) and within each category (median [IQR] increase by editor's assessment, 0.17 [0.83]; 95% CI, 0.04-0.26; P = 0.007; by reviewer's, 0.45 [1.00]; 95% CI, 0.29-0.57; P < 0.001; by librarian's, 1.75 [1.08]; 95% CI, 1.77-2.18, P < 0.001). Before the foundation of KAMJE in 1996, there were only 5 Korean medical journals indexed in the MEDLINE and none in SCIE, but 24 journals in the MEDLINE and 34 journals in SCIE were indexed by 2016. Conclusion: The KAMJE journal evaluation program successfully contributes improving the quality of the member journals.

  • Objective : This systematic review was conducted to investigate the effect of herbal medicine on Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection compared to amoxicillin included synthetic drugs. Methods : Relevant randomized controlled trials(RCTs) which were published prior to December 26, 2020, were collected using PubMED database. Risk of bias evaluation and data extraction were done independently by two reviewers, and the third reviewer reassessed mismatching parts. Results : Two RCTs testing two different herbal medicines against synthetic drugs solitary treatment or synthetic drugs with placebo for herbal medicine were included. One study reported that there was no significant difference between the eradication rate of synthetic drugs and the herbal medicine. The other study did not report the eradication rate of the herbal medicine. One study reported histologic severity, the other reported dyspepsia score as efficacy indicators. There was no adverse event reported in all studies. However, the number of included RCTs was too small, the quality of reported data was not enough to verify efficacy of herbal medicine, and there were some methodological problems. Conclusion : It was difficult to conclude that solitary treatment of herbal medicine was as effective as amoxicillin included synthetic drugs for H. pylori infection.

  • Most universities operate a mileage scheme that grants scholarships by converting students' extra-curricular activities into scores to encourage extra-curricular activities. This study seeks to understand the student experience of this mileage scheme, which universities are strategically providing to their students. For the purpose of the study, 16 students from universities where the mileage scheme is established were selected for in-depth interviews and the interview data was analyzed through consensual qualitative research methods. To secure the validity of research results, feedback was received from a reviewer regarding the appropriacy of areas and categories derived from the study. Ultimately, 3 areas of 'motivation behind participating in the mileage scheme', 'experience in the process of participating in the mileage scheme', 'impact of the experience after participating in the mileage scheme', and 18 categories were derived. This study is meaningful in that it focuses on the student experience of the university mileage scheme to present a review of the current university mileage scheme and suggest various implications for universities to consider when approaching the mileage scheme in the future.
