Optimized Flooding Analysis Method for Compartment for Nuclear Power Plant (원전 격실에 대한 최적 침수분석 방법)

  • In this paper a realistic bounding method for flooding analysis following rupture of large size of thanks and piping is defined. Mass and energy release during main feedwater line break accident is analyzed with RETRAN code. It is modeled that the main feed water control valve is closed in 5.0 seconds after reactor trip. In result of the analysis, largest mass and energy is discharged at 70% reactor power. The flood sources for main feedwater room are calculated when piping failure occurs in the high energy line and medium energy line. Based on the result of flood level (1.43m), it is investigated that all of the safety-related environmental qualification equipments are well located above the flood level.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an entrainment model of the Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) U-tube Steam Generator (SG) for Main Steam Line Break (MSLB) analyses. Generally, the temperature of the inside containment vessel at MSLB is decreased by introducing the liquid entrainment effect. This effect makes a profit on the aspect of integrity evaluation for Equipment Environmental Qualification (EEQ) in the containment. However, the target plant, Kori unit 1 does not have the entrainment data. Therefore, this study has been performed. RETRAN-3D and LOFTRAN computer programs are used for the model development. There are several parameters that are used for the initial benchmark, such as Combustion Engineerings (CE) experimental data and the RETRAN-3D model which describes the test leg. A sensitivity study is then performed with this model in which the model parameters are varied until the calculated results provide reasonable agreement with the measured results for the entire test set. Finally, a multiplication factor has been obtained from the 95/95 values of the calculated (best-estimate) quality data relative to the measured quality data. With this new methodology, an additional temperature margin of about 40$^{\circ}C$ can be obtained. So, the new methodology is found to have an explicit advantage to EQ analyses.

  • In this study the RETRAN-03 code was modified to analyze the thermal-hydraulic transients under three-dimensional ship motions for the application to the future marine reactors. First Japanese nuclear ship MUTSU reactor have been analyzed under various ship motions to verify this code. As results, typical thermal-hydraulic characteristics of marine reactors such as flow rate oscillations and S/G water level oscillations are successfully simulated at various conditions.

일체형원자로 모듈형 증기발생기 자연대류 현상 파악 연구

  • 중소형 일체형 원자로의 자연대류 실험 및 해석을 통해 일체형 원자로의 자연대류에 의한 잔열제거 기능의 특성 및 피동 안전성을 파악하였다. 이를 위해 일체형 원자로 축소 실험장치를 이용한 자연대류 실증 실험을 수행하였으며, 실험 결과를 RETRAN-03와 COMMIX-1B 코드 해석 결과와 비교, 검증하였다. 실험 결과 일부 증기발생기의 열제거 기능 상실이 발생한 경우에도 노심으로 유입되는 냉각재의 온도가 균일하게 분포하여 피동 잔열 제거가 원만히 일어남을 알 수 있었고 해석 결과와 일치하였다.

Analysis of Nuclear Power Plant Load Follow Operation by Temperature Reduction Method (냉각재 온도 감소 장식에 의한 원자력발전소 부하 추종 운전 해석)

  • The inlet coolant temperature reduction technique has been used to extend the load follow operation further in the end-of-cycle-life(EOL). In order to simulate the technique and calculate the nuclear characteristics of a PWR core according to the load follow operation, the three dimensional computing system has been established. The analysis was performed in both MINB and SPINR modes of typical 12-3-6-3 locad follow operation for the EOL of KNU-1 plant. Moreover, the capability of return-to-power has been also tested for those two modes with the system analysis by the RETRAN-02 code. The results show that it has no difficulty to extend the load follow operation further in the EOL by applying the inlet coolant temprature reduction, and also the spinning reserve capacity(SRC) increases by 13% in MINB mode and 14% in SPINR mode Bore that used by control rods only, for 14$^{\circ}$ F drop in the inlet temperature.

  • The KEPRI has been upgrading the KNPEC(Korea Nuclear Power Education Center) #2 simulator, a replica of Yonggwang Unit 1 & 2, due to the outdated systems. The scenarios, such as the continuous load change, are selected to verify and validate the simulator, and the data required to V&V are generated with the best-estimated codes, RETRAN and MARS. The reactor coolant system and steam generator system are cut up into volumes and junctions for the accurate model of the scenarios, and other components and control systems are modeled. For the model the operation and design data of the plants is used and in some cases the data of Kori Unit 3 & 4 is used to fill up the lack of required data. The results of some selected analyses with the models are compared with the operating data of the plants to verify the models, and the analyses of the scenarios are carried out to generated the data for the V&V of the simulator

Comparison of auxiliary Feedwater and EDRS Operation during Natural Circulation of MRX

  • The MRX is an integral type ship reactor with 100 MWt power, which is designed by Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute. It is characterized by integral type PWR, in-vessel type control roe drive mechanism, water-filled containment vessel and passive decay heat removal system. Marine reactor should have high passive safety. Therefore, in this study, we simulated the loss of flow accident to verify the passive decay heat removal by natural circulation using RETRAN-03 code. auxiliary feed water systems are used for decay heat removal mechanism and results are compared with the loss of flow accident analysis using emergency decay heat removal system by JAERI. Results are very similar to case of EDRS 1 loop operation in JAERI analysis and decay heat is successfully removed by natural circulation.

영광1호기 시뮬레이터 노심모델 및 입력 변환툴 개발

  • 지금까지 국내에서 설치되어 있는 원전 시뮬레이터용 노심 (Neutronics) 모델 프로그램은 주로 전산기 성능이 오늘날 비해 낮은 환경에서 실시간으로 노물리 계산을 위해 중성자 확산(Diffusion)현상을 미리 반영한 곡선을 사용하는 등 빠른 계산을 위해 많은 가정과 간략화가 있었다. 본 논문에서는 중성자 물리 계산을 2 Group 3-D로 계산이 가능한 최신의 노심코드(REMARK)를 이용하여, WH사가 공급한 900Mw의 3 Loop PWR인 영광 1호기 12주기를 기준으로 한 시뮬레이터의 노심모델 개발하기 위한 핵설계 전산체계인 APA(ALPHA-PHOENIX-ANC) 시스템의 출력으로부터 자동으로 REMAR 입력데이타를 생성하기 위한 GUI툴 개발과 개발된 노심모델의 자체 검증 및 원자력발전소 사고해석에 쓰이는 최적평가코드(RETRAN)를 기반으로 하는 최신 실시간 열수력 시뷸레이션(ARTS) 모델과 결합(Integration)되어 원자로 냉각재 펌프 1대 정지 및 터빈정지 시험등 과도시험한 결과를 기술하였으며 개발된 노심 모델은 원자력 교육원 2호기 시뮤레이터에 적용될 예정이다.

  • 원자력 교육원 #2(KNPEC-2) 시뮬레이터는 1980년도 중반에 웨스팅하우스에 의해 공급되어 계속 사용되어 오다가 현재 성능개선 연구가 진행 중이다. 이번 성능개선을 통해 기존의 컴퓨터 시스템(Gould MPX)와 소프트웨어의 전면 교체가 이루어지고 있으며 최적 계산 코드를 이용한 실시간 열수력 모델 (ARTS; Advanced Real-Time Thermal-Hydraulics Simulation) 개발 , 2-Group 3D 실시간 노심모델(REMARK ; REal Time Multigroup Advanced Reactor Kinetics)를 이용한 노심 주기개선 (Cycle Update) 가상현실 기술 등을 이용한 컴퓨터 교육지원 시스템(CATS: Computer Assister Training System)등 새로운 시도가 이루어지고 있으며 본 논문은 이러한 새로운 시도가 이루어지고 있으며 본 논문은 이러한 새로운 시도들 및 그 결과에 대해 기술하고 있다. 기준발전소(Reference Plant)인 영광 1호기 12주기의 노심모델로 주기개선(Cycle Update)을 위한 REMARK의 입력자료 생성을 위해 핵설계 전산체계인 APA(ALPHA-PHOENIX-ANC) 시스템의 출력으로부터 자동으로 REMARK 입력데이타를 생성하기 위한 GUI툴 개발하였다. 또 이를 이용하여 개발된 노심모델은 최적계산코드(RETRAn 3D) 의 열수력 해법을 이용하여 개발된 NSSS 열수력코드(ARTS) 와 결합(Integration) 되어 안정 및 과도 상태 시험에 사용되었으며 원자로 냉각재 펌프 정지등의 몇 가지 과도 시험 계산결과 기존 해석 결과와 잘 일치하였다 중앙제어실(MCR; Main Control Room)내의 운전원 행동만 훈련하도록 되어있는 기존시뮬레이터의 한계를 극복하기 위해 가상현실 (VR) 저작도구를 이용한 발전소 현장 내부를 표현하는 가상발전소 (Virtual Plant) 발전소 현장에 소재하여 기존 시뮬레이터의 모의한계 밖에 있던 패널을 표현한 가상판넬(Virtual Panel)등과 강의실에서 발전소 모의 훈련을 가능케 하기 위해 가상현실 기술을 이용한 컴퓨터 지원 교육훈력 시스템(CATS ; Computer Assister Training System)을 개발 중이며 일부 개발부분을 소개하였다.
