  • For effective construction of second-order response surface models, an efficient quad ratic approximation method is proposed in the context of trust region model management strategy. In the proposed method, although only the linear and quadratic terms are uniquely determined using 2n+1 design points, the two-factor interaction terms are mathematically updated by normalized quasi-Newton formula. In order to show the numerical performance of the proposed approximation method, a sequential approximate optimizer is developed and solves a typical unconstrained optimization problem having 2, 6, 10, 15, 30 and 50 design variables, a gear reducer system design problem and two dynamic response optimization problems with multiple objectives, five objectives for one and two objectives for the other. Finally, their optimization results are compared with those of the CCD or the 50% over-determined D-optimal design combined with the same trust region sequential approximate optimizer. These comparisons show that the proposed method gives more efficient than others.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the effect of customers' repurchase intention, extract important factors, systematically analyze them and suggest the direction of bakery industry through studying the customers' satisfaction with bakeries. The researcher modified the questionnaire developed by Park, CH(1998), Lee, JH(2000), Yoon, YC(2000), and Kim SE(2002). In order to assess the level of customers' satisfaction with bakeries, a five point Likert scale was used. The used statistical methods for the data analysis were frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test factor analysis, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis. For all analyses of the research question, an alpha level of.05 was used. The major findings obtained from this study were as fellows. First on the factors of reliability and service ability, there was a high difference between males and females, and singles and the married. Second, on the factors of accessibility using convenience, service ability, and service response, there was a high difference among using frequence. Third, on the reliability factors, there was a high difference among average using amount per month. Forth, on the factors of accessibility using convenience, and service response, there was a high difference among types of customers' residing styles. Fifth, on the factors of income level, there was statistically no difference. Lastly, on the factors of accessibility using convenience, tangibleness, and service response, these factors significantly influenced customers' repurchase intention.

  • Item response theory provides a fixed results about students, regardless of the item difficulty and discrimina-tion and it is also a kind of item analysis methods which provides the same proper competence scores to students in spite of them taking different test repeatedly. In this paper, we researched item difficulty and item discrimina-tion and analyzed items in the national academic aptitude test which were given from 2000 to 2009 in the past 10 years through item response theory, especially, in connection with given items about statistical unit. As a result, we found that about 60 percents of the items were too difficult for high school students to solve, however, item discrimination proved to be great.

  • In this study, a computer program was developed for the seismic response analysis of the structures with base isolation bearings. On a 6-story steel frame structure isolated by lead rubber bearings and friction pendulum bearings, seismic response analyses using the developed program and commercial program and experiments were carried out. The results were compared one another and discussed.

  • The cometaboic biodegradation conditionso f trichloroethylene(TCE) by Burkholderia cepacia G4 were optimized using response surface analysis. The experimental sets of phenol concentration temperature and pH were designed using central composite experimental design. The optimal conditions of phenol concentration temperature and pH were determined to be 0.91 ppm 21.5$^{\circ}C$ and 7.65 respectively by the Ridge analysis of the contour plot for TCE biodegradation rates. The TCE biodegradation rate could be enhanced up to 2.43 nmol.mg protein$.$min by response surface methodology.

  • In servo-system which need fast response and accuracy, PID controller has a good steady-state performance, but has a poor transient response performance causing a load be changed. Compared to these features, FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller) has a good transient response performance for changed load, but has a little Poor steady-state performance. In this paper, Compensated Fuzay Controller which consists of PID controller and FLC is proposed to modify these disadvantages and is examined through simulation to evaluate its functions.

  • Springback simulation is receiving increasing attention throughout the automotive industry and the academic world. The knowledge of the real springback of stamped parts can help the stamping technicians to modify the process parameters or die geometry in order to reduce the shape defect. This paper presents the results of springback simulation after aluminium square cup deep drawing and trimming simulation, and results of springback optimization using response surface method.

  • Response surface method is employed in optimizing the acoustic performance of automotive engine-cooling axial fans. The effects of modifications in blade geometry on noise reduction are investigated. Taking the far-field noise level as the objective, a quadratic response surface is constructed utilizing D-Optimality condition as the candidate-points selection criteria. It is shown that the quadratic model exhibits an excellent fitting capability resulting in the blade design with low far-field noise level.

  • Bayesian methods are considered for the multiple caputure-recapture data. Reference priors are developed for such model and sampling-based approach through Gibbs sampler is used for inference from posterior distributions. Furthermore approximate Bayes factors are obtained for model selection between trap and nontrap response models. Finally one methodology is implemented for a capture-recapture model in generated data and real data.
