  • An automatic control system to control a machinery system is managed by the PLC(Program Logic Control) and measured a machinery status from the sensor information to improve productivity in the industry field. This paper to propose a diagnostic monitoring system consists of a relay module, a one-chip processor module and a computer monitoring system. To improve productive capacity, the system is to check an auxiliary relay's trouble by a real-time monitoring.

  • The automation system uses PLC to monitor the manufacturing process status of the production product and processes the sensor information transmitted from the sensor. In this paper, we propose a remote surveillance system to monitor the status of control relay used in automation system. The proposed system consists of a control relay module, a one-chip processor module, a computer monitoring system, and a database system that inputs and manages the details of the control relay. The computer monitoring system is configured to monitor the operating condition and life time of the control relay. The database is configured so that the input date of the control relay can be input and corrected, and the operating state information of the control relay can be automatically printed. In the remote monitoring system, the failure status of the control relay is recognized in real time, and the time required for normal operation can be minimized by quickly replacing faulty parts.

  • PROSET2000 that is integrated protective management system had developed and used in order to automate the setting process of protective relays in transmission system protection. PROSET2000 have database for relay setting and automated for relay setting program within. This paper proposed PCM current differential relay setting program point of Object Oriented Programming paradigm using Unified Modeling Language about additional relay in PROSET2000. Nevertheless each relay uses same current differential but setting method is different. This paper discribed different thing about setting method of each relay and evaluated more effective and corrective relay setting program using UML.

  • This paper presents a new protection concept to achieve the adaptive optimal function by introducing the multi-agent system technology. Making each relay an agent which consists of relay agent module and coordinator module, each agent works autonomously to improve protection capability by cooperating with other agents. It is applied to the overcurrent protection system of the industrial power system in order to show the feasibility of the proposed methodology.

  • This paper introduces the architecture of OUTPUT module that is suitable using in safety related system having SIL4 and proposes the quantitative target that is required for OUTPUT module. Especially, only output type that is made up Relay output signal and analog signal among various output ways is applied in output module that is a part of safety related system. The FMEA(Failure Modes and Effect Analysis), FTA(Fault Tree Analysis) are used as analysis method. As a result, it proposes to the architecture and failure frequency of the Output module that is used in SIL4 safety related system.

  • This paper shows a novel interference cancellation method of relay utilizing to the CGM algorithm in wireless communication environments. It is a problem that relay have interference cause by feedback signal of it. CGM algorithm obtained weight value that can remove the interference due to feedback signal of relay. In this paper, we confirm that performance of CGM algorithm is far superior with suitable cancellation value to remove the feedback signal. Also, we implement CGM module to verify the real-time processing of CGM algorithm using to DSP. Based on the analysis from computer simulation, it is observed that proposed algorithm is suitable for the relay in time-varying environment.

  • In this paper, power distribution module for car relay control with Control area network is developed. This module is called Intelligent power distribution module because it has microprossor which can communicate with other electric module such as ECU and Body control module and also has self-diagonasis function. The developed IPDM module is tested on vehicle and the good performance has been achieved.

  • The relay measures the frequency of the power system in order to detect faults and separate them from the system. Many estimation algorithms for the relay have been proposed to accurately measure the frequency. This paper proposes a new frequency measurement method using the digital phase locked-loop(DPLL) for the relay of the power system. The proposed method is configured with a DPLL scheme and verified through computer simulations and experimental tests. In order to cope with noises in the power system, filters are included in the input signal processing part and the frequency comparator. MATLAB is used for computer simulations and an experimental setup with a CPU and an FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) is constructed. The loop filter of the DPLL is run in the CPU software In adjust parameters and others are in the FPGA. Experimental tests are performed lot a function generator and the power system. Results show that the proposed method is appropriate to the frequency measurement for the relay.

  • In this study, the measurement part in which the Fast Fourier Transform module and orthogonal filter are included is proposed. Protection relay should has a high precision and concurrently real-time response. Because FFT routine give micro-processor heavy burden and orthogonal filter reduces precision, both FFT module and orthogonal filter are designed to have different sampling frequency.

  • In the past time, the protection relay did only a protection function. Currently, its upgraded device i.e. IED(Intelligent Electric Device) has been designed to protect, control, and monitor the whole power system automatically. Also the device is desired to successfully measure important elements of the power system. This paper considers design method of a digital protection IED with a function of measuring various elements and a communication function. The protection IED is composed of the specific function modules that are signal process module, communication module, input/output module and main control module. A signal process module use a DSP processor for analysis of input signal. Main control module use a embedded processor, Xscale, that has an ARM Core. The communication protocol uses IEC61850 protocol that becomes standard in the future. The protection IED is able to process mass information with high-performance processor. As each function module is designed individually, the reliability of the device can be enhanced.
