  • In the development and mass production of polymers, there are many uncontrollable variables. Even small changes in chemical composition, structure, and processing conditions can lead to large variations in properties. Therefore, Traditional linear modeling techniques that assume a general environment often produce significant errors when applied to field data. In this study, we propose a new modeling method (GPR-SEM) that combines Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) to study the Friction-Coefficient and Flexural-Strength properties of Polyacetal resin, an engineering plastic, in order to meet the recent trend of using plastics in industrial drive components. And we also consider the possibility of using it for materials modeling with nonlinearity.

  • Chemical compositions of Flue - cured and Burley tobacco leaf and smoke were analyzed to find out simple correlation between compositions. Regression equations between dry condensate and nicotine contorts in cigarette smoke were also obtained in the forms of equation(5) and(6) $Y_{FN}$= 0.274 $Y_{FT}$- 3.259............................(5) $Y_{BN}$= 0.249 $Y_{BT}$ - 2.093.............................(6) Standard deviations, $\pm$ 0.061 and $\pm$ 0.152, were obtained for regression equation(5) and (6) respectively.

  • Hybrid fuzzy regression analysis is used for integrating randomness and fuzziness into a regression model. Least squares support vector machine(LS-SVM) has been very successful in pattern recognition and function estimation problems for crisp data. This paper proposes a new method to evaluate hybrid fuzzy linear and nonlinear regression models with crisp inputs and fuzzy output using weighted fuzzy arithmetic(WFA) and LS-SVM. LS-SVM allows us to perform fuzzy nonlinear regression analysis by constructing a fuzzy linear regression function in a high dimensional feature space. The proposed method is not computationally expensive since its solution is obtained from a simple linear equation system. In particular, this method is a very attractive approach to modeling nonlinear data, and is nonparametric method in the sense that we do not have to assume the underlying model function for fuzzy nonlinear regression model with crisp inputs and fuzzy output. Experimental results are then presented which indicate the performance of this method.

The Effect of Using Two Different Type of Dose Calibrators on In Vivo Standard Uptake Value of FDG PET (FDG 사용 시 Dose Calibrator에 따른 SUV에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure F-18 FDG with two different types of dose calibrator measuring radionuclide and radioactivity and investigate the effect of F-18 FDG on SUV (Standard Uptake Value) in human body. Materials and Methods: Two different dose calibrators used in this study are CRC-15 Dual PET (Capintec) and CRC-15R (Capintec). Inject 1 mL, 2 mL, 3 mL of F-18 FDG into three 2 mL syringes, respectively, and measure initial radioactivity from each dose calibrator. Then measure and record radioactivity at 30 minute interval for 270 minutes. According to the initial radioactivity, linearity between decay factor driven from radioactive decay formula and the values measured by dose calibrator have been analyzed by simple linear regression. Fine linear regression line optimizing values measured with CRC-15 through regression analysis on the basis of the volume of which the measured value is close to the most ideal one in CRC-15 Dual PET. Create ROI on lung, liver, and region part of 50 persons who has taken PET/CT test, applying values from linear regression equation, and find SUV. We have also performed paired t-test to examine statistically significant difference in the radioactivity measured with CRC-15 Dual PET, CRC-15R and its SUV. Results: Regression analysis of radioactivity measured with CRC-15 Dual PET and CRC-15R shows results as follows: in the case 1 mL, the r statistic representing correlation was 0.9999 and linear regression equation was y=1.0345x+0.2601; in 2 mL case, r=0.9999, linear regression equation y=1.0226x+0.1669; in 3 mL case, r=0.9999, linear regression equation y=1.0094x+0.1577. Based on the linear regression equation from each volume, t-test results show significant difference in SUV of ROI in lung, liver, region part in all three case. P-values in each case are as follows: in 1 mL case, lung, liver and region (p<0.0001); in 2 mL case, lung (p<0.002), liver and region (p<0.0001); in 3 mL case, lung (p<0.044), liver and region (p<0.0001). Conclusion: Radioactivity measured with CRC-15 Dual PET, CRC-15R, dose calibrator for F-18 FDG test, do not show difference correlation, while these values infer that SUV has significant differences in the aspect of uptake in human body. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the difference of SUV in human body when using these dose calibrator.

Prediction of Breastfeeding Intentions and Behaviors : An Application of the Theory of Planned Behavior (계획된 행위 이론을 적용한 모유수유의지 및 행위의 예측요인 분석)

  • The majority of studies on breastfeeding consists of descriptive correlational studies identifying the incidence and correlates of breastfeeding. The theory of planned behavior has been shown to yield great predictive power for behavioral goals over which individuals have only limited control such as improving school grades and weight loss. The purpose of this study was to test the "theory of planned behavior" in the prediction of breastfeeding of mothers who delivered vaginally, One hundred mothers who delivered vaginally in one general hospital in Seoul and one general hospital and three private hospitals in Taejeon participated in this study. The instruments used for data collection in this study were developed by the researchers following the guidelines suggested by Ajzen & Fishbein(1980) and Ajzen & Madden(1986). The instruments included measurement of attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control and intention. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson product moment correlation, hierachical multiple regression and logistic regression. The results are as follows ; 1. Intention to breastfeed correlated significantly with attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. Both attitude and subjective norm did not make a significant contribution to the prediction of intention, but the addition of perceived behavioral control to the regression equation greatly improved the model's predictive power, increasing the R²from .05 to .52. 2. Intention to breastfeed alone had a significant predictive effect on actual breastfeeding, resulting in a regression coefficient of .16(X²=8 60, p<.01), but when perceived behavioral control was added to the equation, intention was not a significant predictive variable and only perceived behavioral control showed significant predictive power on actual breastfeeding, resulting in a regression coefficient of .12(X²=4.69, p<.05). In sum, breastfeeding behavior lent only partial support to the second version of the theory of planned behavior, and because perceived behavioral control had a strong effect on intention to breastfeed and actual breastfeeding, It would be desirable to develop nursing intervention programs which focus on strengthening the perceived behavioral control for the promotion of breastfeeding.

A Study on Installation of Washstands in Bathrooms of Elementary School (초등학교 세면시설의 적정 설치에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives: Students in elementary schools usually wash their hands in a washstand. However, little attention is paid to the washstand itself. Today, the importance of personal sanitation and hygiene is greatly emphasized. Therefore students' parents and the public are growing increasingly interested in accessibility to washstands by elementary school students in their schools. Methods: With respect to this study, a survey of students and teachers inelementary schools was performed on the installation of washstands in order to determine the proper number of washstands per school. Results: The results show that 1.1 boys (per class) need a washstand, while 1.8 girls (per class) do so in order to maintain a 50% level of crowdedness. By of the regression equation, to maintain 50% congestion (50% of all students feel congestion) there should be 18.5 boys, and the 15.76 girls per washstand. Table 3 is based on the above results, the number of students per washstand (x) and congestion (y), separated by gender according to the results of regression analysis, the correlation of male models in the linear regression analysis and correlation of girls in the regression equation can be obtained. The linear regression fit of less than 0.7 determines that the coefficients of determination are 0.5399 and 0.4195, respectively. Significance was much smaller. Also, according to the simulation using the diffusion model, with 29 students per class more than one washstand should be provided in a school. Girls (per class) need 0.7 more washstands than boys (per class). Conclusions: More washstand facilities for girls than boys are needed. If the target is based on school class size two washstands should be installed. Finally, guidelines and/or standards in the Schools Health Act of Korea forin elementary school washstands is considerably needed.

  • The aims of this study are to investigate a logisitic regression equation of the vacuous pulse and the replete pulse for efficacy evaluation of clip-type pulsimeter by using magnetic Hall device. To evaluate the efficacy of clip-type pulsimeter by using magnetic Hall device as sensing the minute movement of a radial artery, one research clinical trial have been performed. The number of subject was 120, the clinical data of patients did treated with a normal statistical method. The systolic peak amplitude, the reflective peak amplitude and time, and the notch peak amplitude and time are analyzed major efficacy parameters to discern the vacuous pulse and the replete pulse. The equations included of five parameters such as systolic peak amplitude, the reflective peak amplitude and time, and the notch peak amplitude and notch amplitude time for determination of the vacuous pulse and the replete pulse were deducted by statistical logistic regression method. It suggests that the logistic regression equations are possible to develop the oriental algorithm for pulse diagnosis.

  • This study is aimed at the application of the apparel size system to be applied for the Internet shopping mall in Korea. Especially this is focused on the presumption of the body measurement according to the age groups and the figure groups. In this regard, a sizing system is to be developed that could be used to approach consumers more easily and provide more fitness and accuracy in terms of size. The target study was on a group of women nineteen to forty-nine years of age. The 4th National Anthropometry Survey data were used in the examination. The results in the study are as follows ; (1) On the Internet apparel shopping malls in relation with this study, no matter what size in the ready-to-wear enterprises was selected by the consumers who once put their information in the member registration, the most appropriate sizes for them are automatically given and transferred to the order forms of chosen enterprises with aid of internal programs of the internet webpage. In addition, when consumers enter their body sizes in the units that are familiar to them, such as inches or centimeters, the units are automatically programed so that they can be converted for the sake of convenience. ; (2) To extract an estimation equation of body size through Multiple Regression Analysis, the circumferences of chest and hip could be presumed by stature, weight, and waist circumference of which most consumers were well aware. For more accurate regression equations, groupings were made in the three categories of age(19∼29/30∼39/40∼49) and in the three body types(Type N, A and H). Then, the regression equations were established for three sectors, $\circled1$ 'chest circumference not filled up', $\circled2$ 'hip circumference not filled up' and $\circled3$ 'neither filled up for chest nor for hip circumference'.   • Determinats of Fertility Behavior Among Self-Employed Korean Women (자영업에 종사하는 기혼여성의 출산행위에 관한 연구)

    • The subjects used in this study were chosen from self-employed women in Taegu City, Korea, Data for 415 respondents were collected by face-to-face interviews conducted during the period of November 10 through 23, 1987. There are three major purposes in this study : first, to describe the general characteristics of self-employed Korean women's fertility behavior ; second, to examine the determinants of fertility behavior among self-employed women : third, to explore the relative importance of the fertility determinants among the women. Regression analyses were introduced to test hypotheses. Nine variables, such as household income, educational attainment, mass media, abortion, the period of contraception practice, contraceptive expenses, the number of infant, deaths marital period, and age at first marriage were introduced as indicators in the regression. The results of this study show that there are negative relationships between the dependent variable of fertility and abortion, and the period of contraception practice. On the other hand, positive relationships between the dependent variable of fertility and the number of infant deaths, and marital period and age at first marriage are shown in this study. However, the results of this study show that there are insignificant relationships between socioeconomic variables and fertility. From the results of the F test to evaluate the significance of difference in $R^2$between two different regression equations, we have found that the regression equation including both socioeconomic variables and intermediate variables is misspecified to examine the determinants of fertility behavior among self-employed Korean women. That is, the F test shows that the regression equation including only intermediate variables as indicators is the best model for this study. Finally, the relative importance of the fertility determinants among self-employed women is found as follows : Age at the first marriage is the most influential variable in the fertility, and the next important factors are abortion, the period of contraception practice, the number of infant deaths, and marital period, in that order.
