  • The electro-magnetic vector equation(F=$qv{\times}B$ ; F:force, B:magnetic field, q:plus charge, v :velocity of the charge) explains well about the rotations of electron and positron under the magnetic field[Ref.1], as in Fig.1(a). Because the electro-magnetic wave is also a motion of the alternating charge and magnetic field as in Fig.2, the force vector has all the time inwarding direction and then the wave has a rotating motion. The positron in the proton has constant charge and alternating one at the same time[Ref.2] and then the alternating charge makes the absorbing force with the alternating charge of the rotating wave ($\pi$-ray) around the nucleus[Ref.2]. • The restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment legislation mandates the substitution of lead and other hazardous substances in electronics products by July 2006. Due to this legislative pressure, the electronics industry is moving to adoption of lead free solders. In this paper, we investigated a flux to restrict generating electrochemical migration in lead-free solder. The lead-free solders used in this study were Sn-0.7Cu-0.01P and Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu. To measure the resistance of electrochemical migration, the dew-cycle test and water drop test were adopted. As the result, now flux having high durable of electrochemical migration was developed.

  • In this study, we evaluated the role of apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease1/redox factor-1 (Ref-1) on the tumor necrosis factor-$\alpha$ (TNF-$\alpha$) induced cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression using A549 lung adenocarcinoma cells. TNF-$\alpha$ induced the expression of COX-2 in A549 cells, but did not induce BEAS-2B expression. The expression of COX-2 in A549 cells was TNF-$\alpha$ dose-dependent (5~100 ng/ml). TNF-$\alpha$-stimulated A549 cells evidenced increased Ref-1 expression in a dose-dependent manner. The adenoviral transfection of cells with AdRef-1 inhibited TNF-$\alpha$-induced COX-2 expression relative to that seen in the control cells ($Ad{\beta}gal$). Pretreatment with $10\;{\mu}M$ of SB203580 suppressed TNF-$\alpha$-induced COX-2 expression, thereby suggesting that p38 MAPK might be involved in COX-2 expression in A549 cells. The phosphorylation of p38 MAPK was increased significantly after 5 minutes of treatment with TNF-$\alpha$, reaching a maximum level at 10 min which persisted for up to 60 min. However, p38MAPK phosphorylation was markedly suppressed in the Ref-1-overexpressed A549 cells. Taken together, our results appear to indicate that Ref-1 negatively regulates COX-2 expression in response to cytokine stimulation via the inhibition of p38 MAPK phosphorylation. In the lung cancer cell lines, Ref-1 may be involved as an important negative regulator of inflammatory gene expression.

  • The procedure using equivalent time at reference temperature has been assessed for the estimation of kinetic parameters with experimental data. Kinetic studies of nonenzymatic browning reaction in model and food system were carried out with linearly increasing temperature method. These kinetic parameters, n, $k_{ref}$ and $E_a$ of the systems were evaluated from original data in one step by nonlinear least square regression. The one step procedure yielded efficiently accurate parameter estimation. Computer simulated data with the kinetic models were well consistent with experimental data (average correlation coefficient=0.96).

  • The authors proposed a new rapid-screening method for more reasonably evaluating seismic capacities of medium and low-rise RC buildings controlled by both shear and flexure in Ref. [1]. The method proposed in Ref. [1] was based on relationships between required strengths of each failure system for ductility factors and damage degrees of overall system derived from the view-point of ductility factors. The proposed method was also verified using observed real damage data of low-rise RC buildings caused by past earthquakes. Results indicated that the methodology proposed in Ref. [1] compares well with real damages and is a useful strategy for rapidly identifying low-rise RC buildings having high potential seismic risk. In this study, in order to verify the applicability of the new methodology proposed in Ref. [1] to real RC building systems, seismic capacities of existing eleven low-rise RC buildings in Korea are evaluated based on the new method.

  • This paper proposes a new bandgap reference (BGR) circuit which takes advantage of a cascode current mirror biasing to reduce the V$\_$ref/ variation, and sizing technique, which utilizes two related ratio numbers k and N, to reduce the PNP BJT area. The proposed BGR is designed and fabricated on a test chip with a goal to provide a reference voltage to the 10 bit A/D(4-4-4 pipeline architecture) converter of the CMOS Active Pixel Sensor (APS) imager to be used in X-ray imaging. The basic temperature variation effect on V$\_$ref/ of the BGR has a maximum delta of 6 mV over the temperature range of 25$^{\circ}C$ to 70$^{\circ}C$. To verify that the proposed BGR has radiation hardness for the X-ray imaging application, total ionization dose (TID) effect under Co-60 exposure conditions has been evaluated. The measured V$\_$ref/ variation under the radiation condition has a maximum delta of 33 mV over the range of 0 krad to 100 krad. For the given voltage, temperature, and radiation, the BGR has been satisfied well within the requirement of the target 10 bit A/D converter.

  • A simulation procedure was developed for identifying Yungnam unit 2 excitation model parameters to improve the accuracy of stability simulation of KEPCO. First, generator model parameters are derived by using modified load rejection technique from measured load rejection test. For identifying excitation model parameters, switch was changed from MVR mode to AVR mode in Yungnam unit 2 excitation system instead of applying to a small step to the voltage reference($V_{ref}$) because of saving time and efforts, assuming the test result would show coincided result with applying to a small step to the $V_{ref}$. However, it was found that the response of switching from MVR to AVR is greatly different from it of applying small signal to the $V_{ref}$. A simulation procedure was needed to take into accounts of real AVR component status before and after switching from MVR to AVR. This paper reports the procedure which duplicated the measured response and addresses the merits of this test on conventional AVR step test.

  • With the publication of TRS-483 in late 2017 the IAEA has established an international code of practice for reference dosimetry in small and non-standard fields based on a formalism first suggested by Alfonso et al. in 2008. However, data on beam quality correction factors ($k^{f_{msr},f_{ref}}_{Q_{msr},Q_0}$) for the Leksell Gamma $Knife^{(R)}$ $Perfexion^{TM}$ is scarce and what little data is available was obtained under conditions not necessarily in accordance with the IAEA's recommendations. This study constitutes the first systematic attempt to calculate those correction factors by applying the new code of practice to Monte Carlo simulation using the GEANT4 toolkit. $k^{f_{msr},f_{ref}}_{Q_{msr},Q_0}$ values were determined for three common ionization chamber detectors and five different phantom materials, with results indicating that in most phantom materials, all chambers were well suited for reference dosimetry with the Gamma $Knife^{(R)}$. Similarities and differences between the results of this study and previous ones were also analyzed and it was found that the results obtained herein were generally in good agreement with earlier PENELOPE and EGSnrc studies.
