Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between caregivers' child rearing characteristics including discipline method, child rearing confidence, attitude, burden, attachment, and cognitive stimulation and preschooler's behavior problems in poor, urban group. Method: A cross-section study design was used. Conveniently selected one hundreds and three preschool aged children and their caregivers who are under National Security Act were recruited. Data was collected using Korean Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBC) comprised of nine sub-dimensions and caregivers' self report questionnaires. Results: Caregivers' discipline method was associated with behavior problems of child. The internalizing and externalizing behavior problem scores including aggressive behavior of children who experienced spanking were significantly higher than children who did not. In addition, Caregivers' child rearing confidence also showed associations with the children's behavior problems. Child behavior problems showed positive relationships with caregivers' child rearing burden, and negative relationships with child rearing attitude, attachment, and cognitive stimulation. Conclusion: Caregivers' negative discipline methods and low child rearing confidence showed significant relationships with children's behavior problems of poor, urban children. Nurses working in primary care and community-based settings are in key positions to address this problem and improve the parenting attitude of low-income caregivers and positively affect the behavior of their children.
The recent type of dysfunctional family is caused not only by the loss of a family member, which is the traditional type of dysfunction, but also by the absence of a functional aspect. In order for a family to function healthily, it is necessary to have the right child rearing by the parents and the right parental role. Accordingly, this study is to identify the difference in stress from child rearing and the parental role in dysfunctional families, which have been increasing enormously in recent times. With this aim, 45 persons from dysfunctional families owing to divorce, 51 persons from other dysfunctional families, and 48 persons from general families were subject to a test about stress from child rearing and the parental role. As a result, for stress from child rearing, mothers in dysfunctional families perceived stress from child rearing more highly than ones in general families; and also for parental role, the level of parental role was proven lower for mothers in dysfunctional families than ones in general families.
The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of affectionate child-rearing behavior on children's self esteem. The sample group was composed of 200 forth and sixth grade elementary school students. The statistics used for this data were frequency, percentile, averages, standard deviation, Cronbach's alpha, t-test, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The major findings of the research were as follows: First, the scores of affectionate child-rearing behavior(3.60), global self-worth(3.58), social acceptance(3.46) and behavior conduct(3.28) were higher than the mean scores. On the contrary the scores of cognitive ability(2.95), physical ability(2.94) and physical appearance(2.85) were lower than the mean scores. Second, there were significant differences in cognitive ability based on gender(p<.01) and global self-worth based on grade(p<.05). Third, the influence of affectionate child-rearing behavior on children's self esteem was found to be significant due to the sub-areas of self-esteem. Affectionate child-rearing behavior affects all sub-areas of self-esteem. Affectionate child-rearing behavior affects cognitive ability(p<.001), physical ability(p<.01), physical appearance(p<.01), social acceptance(p<.001), behavior conduct(p<.01) and global self-worth(p<.001). In addition, gender(p<.01) affects cognitive ability and grade(p<.05) affects global self-worth.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of spouse character perceived by mother's child - rearing behavior and child rearing behavior - children's social competence. The subjects of this study were 115 children's mothers in Jeon-ju city. The data were collected using questionaries and analyzed by the statistical methods of frequencies, percentages, t-test, ANOVA, pearson's correlation with SPSS pc program: The results of this study were summarized as follows: 1. There were significant differences according to economics status in spouse character Perceived by mother's. In other words. got higher income to authoritarian character and also there were significant differences according to economic status in child - rearing behavior. In other words. got higher income mother's child - rearing behavior such as rejection - blame and sensitivity. 2. There were significant differences according to economic status in children's social competence. In particular. got higher income to children's social competence such as ability and leadership. 3. There were significant differences according to economic status in relation of spouse character perceived by mother's. child - rearing behavior and children's social competence.
This study evaluated the impact of an AI heifer calf rearing scheme on dairy stock development, in a coconut grazing and a peri-urban smallholder dairy production system in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. The heifer rearing scheme included free advice on calf rearing, drugs, acaricides, minerals and subsidised concentrates for 30 months. The farmers in the coconut growing area integrate dairying with their plantation, they sell their milk to the main processors. The peri-urban farmers are intensive milk producers, who sell their milk at informal markets. To estimate the effect of the heifer rearing scheme on dairy replacement stock development, scheme farmers were compared with farmers who did not participate in the scheme. Calf mortality was twice as high in non-scheme farms (23-28%) as in scheme farms (12-14%). The scheme had a positive effect on weight development and scheme heifers calved 4.5 months earlier than non-scheme heifers. The calf rearing package is cost effective in both farming systems, however, the required cash inputs are a major constraint. The costs per in-calf heifer under the scheme are much lower than the production of such animals by either multiplication in state farms or importing them. The coconut grazing system showed the highest potential for producing surplus dairy stock.
The study is to investigate mothers' parental beliefs about child development and the children's developmental tasks, and to explore the relationship between mother's parental beliefs and child-rearing behaviors. The subjects are 113 pairs of 4- to 5-year-old children and their mothers. For measuring maternal beliefs about child-development, 'beliefs about development scale' and 'child-rearing beliefs scales' were used. For mother's child-rearing behaviors, 'child rearing behavior observation scale' was used. The main results were: first, mothers value the cognitive theory and 'autonomous behavior' higher than 'conforming behavior' in developing their children. Second, there were no differences in mother's parenting beliefs in the factors of 'gender of their children' and 'maternal job status', while there were significant differences in maternal beliefs according to the levels of mother's education and family income. Third, sub-scales of their parenting beliefs were correlated with interactive behaviors between them and their children. The more mothers put importance on cognitive theory and children's autonomous behaviors, the more their supportive child-rearing behaviors during child-mother task solving situations were showed.
The focus of this study was finding out the relations among resilience of children separated from parents, child rearing factors and socio-emotional adjustment in Korean and Yanbian Korean-Chinese regions. Subjects were elementary school $5{\sim}6$ graders separated from their parents(184 in Korea and 81 in Yanbian). Data analysis was by Pearson's r, F-test and t-test. Resilience of Korean-Chinese children was higher than that of Korean children. Caregivers' child rearing behavioral factor than other child rearing factors was significant for children's resilience, and especially for Korean children, caregivers' child rearing psychological factor -efficacy and stress variables- were meaningful. Socio-emotional adjustment was significantly different between resilience high and low groups in both regions. Implications are that regional differences, caregivers' psychological and behavioral child rearing factors should be considered in supporting the development of children's resilience and socio-emotional adjustment.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide fundamental resources for preventing adolescents' bullying behavior. For this aim we analyzed parents' rearing attitudes and adolescents' personality characteristics effecting on bullying experiences. Methods: We carried out a questionnaire survey at middle and high school located in Anyang, Gwacheon, Gunpo from July 8 to 22, 2013. Data were collected from 756 students. By using SPSS 20.0, data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis Results: There was a close relationship among parents' rearing attitudes, adolescents' personality characteristics, and bullying experiences. Parents' affectionate rearing attitudes reduced adolescents' bullying experiences, on the other hand parents' hostile and rejective rearing attitudes increased. The adolescents with high responsibility had low bullying experiences, otherwise adolescents with high activity had high bullying experiences. Conclusions: In order to reduce bullying experiences parents' rearing attitudes should be changed and education programs that could encourage a sense of responsibility should be introduced.
This study was proposed in obtaining basic data for an intervention programs of the stable child care by identifying the effects of support from the spouse and family on the child rearing among marriage immigrant women. Subjects consisted of 110 marriage immigrant women in Gyeonggi-do in December, 2014. SPSS/WIN 22.0 program was used for ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis to figure out burden and efficacy of child rearing through the general characteristics. The increased burden of child rearing was statistically significant with young age, lower level of education, low income and less spending time to raise their children by husband. Additionally, the increased efficacy of child rearing was statistically significant with young age and using two languages. The pressure of the child rearing showed a negative correlation with spouse support, income, and old age. The efficacy of child rearing had a positive correlation with spouse support, spending time to take care of their children by family, and ages. In the regression analysis, the burden of child rearing among immigrant women increased by old age (${\beta}=-2.097$, p<.05) and less time to raise their children by husband (${\beta}=-2.165$, p<.05). It is important to provide spouse and family support to encourage desirable child rearing behavior. These results may provide to improve intervention programs for child rearing among marriage immigrant women.
The purpose of this study is to examine a married nurse's experience of child rearing through being applied to phenomenological research method. By exchanging their experiences, helping and understanding one another, married nurses can work with delight considering their own present job as their lifelong job. In addition this study can help single nurses overcome the female crises such as marriage, childbirth, and child rearing they will experience in the future. The subjects of this research was 26 married nurses who work for a university hospital in affiliation in Seoul and have children. The period of materials collection was from Feb. 1st to Mar. 3, 1995. The method of materials collection was primarily to write down a questionary with openhearted contents. In collecting it, the respondents were allowed to say at their pleasure through further interview. The materials were analyzed by Giorgi's phenomenological analysis method. The findings of this study are as follows ; 1) The responses of married nurses' experience of child rearing-[pleasure] [family solidarity] [maternal-infant attachment] [understanding] [toilsome]-were induced. That is, at once affirmative experience and hard experience coexisted. 2) The method of married nurses' child rearing-[rearing politely] [raising understanding] [having the sense of family community] [rearing with praying the heart] [careless]-were induced. 3) The support system of married nurses' child rearing-[having help family] [having help from others]-were induced. According to the above findings, the married nursed showed affirmative responses about their experience of child rearing, but at the same time they expressed painful when stayed apart from their children on account of their job or when their children were sick. In the method of child rearing, they tried to grow their children polite because there was much time for them to stay apart from their children. And they tried to give a better explanation in order that their children can have an independence spirit. They tended to compensate through frequent physical touch with their children. As the support system of married nurses' child rearing, they asked their parents or their parents-in-law to take care of their children, hired a nursery governess in their houses, or used a children's home, if they can't afford to. That is, the only one who has a firm sense of her profession, tries to inspire her accomplishment, and is receiving her husband' love and understanding is considered to perform two things simultaneously with harmony, having an recognition of lifelong job. Suggestions 1. The method to solve mental troubles on child rearing should be groped. 2. Their economical burden should be reduced by establishing children's home in their working places, and the increase of maternal-infant interaction should be contrived. 3. The chance of education should be offered in order that married nurses themselves might inspire self-conceit and professionalism on clinical nursing. 4. The familiar mood should be created through planning the programs to be accompanied with children as an annual event in hospital. 5. The part-time nurse system should be suggested to utilize. 6. The system of circulation working should be converted into the system of fixing working according to the characteristic of each department. 7. Programs for special activities such as learning foreign languages and computer should be supported positively.
