Antioxidant and Anti-Adipogenic Effects of Ethanolic Extracts from Ixeris dentata Nakai (씀바귀 에탄올 추출물의 항산화 및 지방세포 분화억제 효과)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the total phenol, total flavonoids contents and antioxidant activity of 80% ethanolic extract from Ixeris dentata Nakai(IDE) as well as to assess the lipid accumulation during adipogenesis of 3T3-L1 cells. The results demonstrated that the total phenolic and flavonoids contents of the IDE were $4.01{\pm}0.63$ GAE mg/g and $0.05{\pm}0.01$ RE mg/g, respectively. The antioxidative activities of the IDE were significantly increased in a dose dependent manner on DPPH(1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging, ABTS(2,2'-Azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)diammonium salt) radical scavenging, reducing power value. During adipocyte differentiation, IDE significantly inhibited lipid accumulation compared with the control cells. These results indicated that the anti-adipogenesis effect of Ixeris dentata Nakai could be attributed to phenolic compounds that may potentially inhibit ROS(reactive oxygen species) production.

Flow Analysis over Moving Circular Cylinder Near the Wall at Moderate Reynolds Number (낮은 레이놀즈 수에서 벽면에 근접하여 이동하는 실린더 주위의 유동해석)

  • The aerodynamic characteristics of circular cylinder in a channel are studied to make clear the flow feature by solving the Navier-Stokes equation based on the finite volume method with unstructured grids. Reviews are made on with the vorticity, velocity, dynamic pressure, residual and drag, where the Reynolds numbers are 50 and 100. The flows for $Re{\succeq}50$ shows the vortex shedding in the wake, and the result is the same as the case of moving cylinder. The ground effect of flat bottom results in the growth of vortex, being generated in the upper side of the cylinder and elongated in the rear. As the cylinder approaches to wall, for example 0.6, the cylinder plays as a role of blockage to obstruct the flow between the cylinder and wall. The drag coefficients are compared with others' results to confirm the validity of the present numerical simulation.

  • Recent advance in the satellite-based remote sensing technology demands abilities to efficiently processthe massive satellite data. In thisstudy, we focused on developing GOCI Products Reprocessing System (GPRS) based on server virtualization and distributed processing in order to efficiently reprocess massive GOCI data. Experimental results revealed that GPRS allows raising the usage rates of memory and central processing unit (CPU) up to about 100% and 75%, respectively. This meansthat the proposed system enables us to save the hardware resources and increase the work process speed at the same time when we process massive satellite data.

  • Copper Pillar Tin Bump (CPTB) was investigated for high density chip interconnect technology development, which was prepared by electroplating and electro-less plating methods. Copper pillar tin bumps that have $100{\mu}m$ pitch were introduced with fabrication process using a KM-1250 dry film photoresist (DFR), with copper electroplating for Copper Pillar Bump (CPB) formation firstly, and then tin electro-less plating on it for control oxidation. Electric resistivity and mechanical shear strength measurements were introduced to characterize the oxidation effects and bonding process as a function of thermo-compression. Electrical resistivity increased with increasing oxidation thickness, and shear strength had maximum value with $330^{\circ}C$ and 500 N thermo-compression process. Through the simulation work, it was proved that when the CPTB decreased in its size, it was largely affected by the copper oxidation.

Study on Cosmeceutical Activities from Fermented Ginseng Berry Extracts (진생베리 발효추출물의 화장품 약리활성)

  • Ginseng berry contains a large amount of Ginsenoside Re and has anti-inflammatory, anticancer, hypoglycemic and whitening effects. In this study, Rhizopus Oligosporus strain was used to establish ginseng berry fermentation process and cosmetic pharmacological activity of ginseng berry fermented product was analyzed.. The electron donating ability of ginseng berry extract by fermentation shown 81% at 1,000 ㎍/mL concentration. The ABTS+ radical scavenging ability of shown 100.2% at 1,000 ㎍/mL concentration. The tyrosinase inhibitory effect which is related to skin-whitening, was 57% at the concentration of 1,000 ㎍/mL. The elastase inhibitory effect which is related to skin-wrinkle, was 47% at 1,000 ㎍/mL concentration. Also, the collagenase inhibition effect was 33% at 1,000 ㎍/mL concentration. From these results, ginseng berry extracts by fermentation is considered to have anti-inflammatory, anti-wrinkle effect and whitening effect. Therefor, ginseng berry fermented product is expected to be very useful as an anti-inflammatory and anti-aging cosmetic raw material.

UNDERWATER NOISE GENERATED BY FISHING GEAR -Stern trawl net- (어구에서 발생되는 소음 -트로올 어구-)

  • The main purpose of the present study is to measure the sound spectra of the underwater noises generated by moving trawl net. An underwater recording system was designed to detect underwater noise generated by moving trawl net. The acoustic analysis was made by a heterodyne analyzer (B & K 2010) and level recorder (B & K 2307). The noises generated by the trawl net are appreciably higher (about 10dB) than the background noise in the presence of the fishing vessel. The frequency distribution of underwater noise was DC-6,300 Hz and predominant frequency range was 100-200 Hz, and maximum sound pressure level was $137\;db(re\;1{\mu}Pa)$. Sound pressure level recorded at the ground rope was higher than that recorded at the head rope. The sound pressure level meosured in the course of hawling was higher than that measured in the course of towing. When tile net is being casted tile sound pressure level showed the lowest value.

The Change of Ginsenoside Composition in Ginseng Berry Extract by the Ultrasonication Process (초음파 처리 인삼열매 엑스의 인삼사포닌 변화)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a new preparation process of ginseng berry extracts having high concentrations of ginsenoside Rh1, Rg2, Rg5, F4, a special component of red and black ginseng. Chemical transformation from ginseng saponin glycosides to prosapogenin was analyzed by the HPLC. Extracts of ginseng (Panax ginseng) berry was processed under several treatment conditions including ultrasonication treatments. The content of total saponin reached their heights at 6 hr (UGB-6, 61.760%) of ultrasonication treatment, followed by 10 hr (UGB-10, 53.009%) and 9 hr (UGB-9, 50.652%) of ultrasonication treatment at $100^{\circ}C$. Results of those treatments showed that the quantity of ginsenoside Rh1 increased by over 15% at 10 hr of ultrasonication treatment at $100^{\circ}C$. The results of processing with UGB-10 indicate that the ultrasonication processed ginseng berry extracts that had gone through 10 hr treatments were found to contain the largest amount of ginsenoside Rh1 (15.358%), Rg2 (6.301%), Re (4.567%) and F4 (2.658%). In addition, UGB-6 contained ginsenoside Rg3 (13.632%) at high concentrations. It is thought that such results provide basic information in preparing ginseng berry extracts with functionality enhanced.

Comparative Biological Properties of Prunus davidiana Fruits according to Harvest Month (산복사나무 열매의 수확시기별 생리활성물질 함량 비교)

  • This study was performed to determine the optimal month of harvest between May and July for wild peach (Prunus davidiana) by comparison of functional materials. The general composition, amino acid and vitamin (A, C, and E) content, and antioxidant activity were determined. With respect to the general composition of wild peach according to the month of harvest, wild peach harvested in May (HMP) and July (HJP) contained mostly carbohydrate, the contents of which amounted to 77.37 g/100 g and 77.92 g/100 g, respectively. The total amino acid content of HMP and HJP were 675.29 mg% and 573.25 mg%, respectively. Regarding the vitamin contents, vitamin A (retinol), E (${\alpha}-tocopherol$) and C in HMP were higher than those in HJP. The total polyphenol content of HMP (218.37 mg TAE/g) was higher than that of HJP (71.45 mg TAE/g). The total flavonoid content of HMP (64.95 mg RE/g) was also higher than that of HJP (32.67 mg RE/g). Moreover, the DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities ($IC_{50}$) were higher in HMP ($137.18{\mu}g/mL$ and $157.15{\mu}g/mL$) than those in HJP ($160.10 {\mu}g/mL$ and $186.01 {\mu}g/mL$), meaning that the former produces better antioxidant effects. It can be concluded that wild peach harvested in May contained higher functional materials such as vitamins and amino acids and had a higher antioxidant effect, than wild peach harvested in july.

Thickness Control of Electroplating Layer for Copper Pillar Tin Bump (구리기둥범프 용 전해도금 층 제어)

  • The electroplating and electro-less plating methods have been applied for the high density chip interconnect of the Copper Pillar Tin Bump (CPTB) preparation. The CPTB was prepared, which had been electroplated about $100{\mu}m$ pitch of copper layer firstly, and then the Tin layer was deposited on the copper pillar surface to protect the oxidation of it. It was also very important to get uniform thickness of electroplated copper layer, though it was difficult and sensitive. In order to control the thickness distribution, it was examined that the current separating disk of Insulating Gate with a hole in the center was installed between electrodes. The current flows through the center hole of the Insulating Gate in the cylindrical electroplating bath and the other parts were blocked to protect current flowing. The main current flowed through the center hole of the Insulating Gate directly to the opposite electrode of wafer disk. As the results, it was verified that the copper layer was thick in the center part of wafer disk with distribution of thinner to the outer part toward edge.

  • Recently, renewable energy-related power generation facilities have been surging due to the government's "Renewable Energy 3020", "Green New Deal", "2050 Carbon Neutrality" and "K-RE100" policies. Most renewable energy facilities are small and distributed, making it difficult to manage efficiently, and small distributed resources less than 1MW are having a hard time with participating in the market due to the limited sales and avoidance of trading. In particular, the intermittency of renewable energy has a significant impact on the stability of the power grid. The government is seeking to address volatility and intermittency issues through 'small distributed resource brokerage trading, and to expand the systematic resourceization and acceptability of heterogeneous large and small distributed resources. In this work, we intend to apply an AI-based power generation prediction model to a distributed resource brokerage trading system so that it can be utilized as a foundation platform for pioneering new energy business markets.
