  • We proposed a blind watermarking scheme using singular vectors based on Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Redundant Discrete Wavelet Transform (RDWT) combined with Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for copyright protection application. We replaced the 1st left and right singular vectors decomposed from cover image with the corresponding ones from watermark image to overcome the false-positive problem in current watermark systems using SVD. The proposed scheme realized the watermarking system without a false positive problem, and shows high fidelity and robustness.

  • We proposed an improved reliable SVD-based watermarking scheme resistant to geometric attacks while having high fidelity with no false-positive problem. Principal components of a watermark image are embedded into singular values of LL, LH, HL, and HH sub-bands of a transformed cover image by RDWT(redundant discrete wavelet transform) with optimal scale factors. Each scale factor is generated by trading-off fidelity and robustness using Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. Zernike Moment (ZM) is used to estimate the geometric distortion and to correct the watermarked image before extracting watermark. The proposed scheme improves fidelity and robustness of existing reliable SVD based watermarking schemes while resisting to geometric attacks.

  • A wide-area protection intelligent technique has been used to improve a reliability in power systems and to prevent a blackout. Nowadays, voltage and current phasor estimation has been executed by GPS-based synchronized PMU, which has become an important way of wide-area blackout protection for the prevention of expending faults in power systems. As this technique has the difficulties in collecting and sharing of information, there have been used a FNET method for the wide-area intelligent protection. This technique is very useful for the prediction of the inception fault and for the prevention of fault propagation with accurate monitoring frequency and frequency deviation. It consists of FDRs and IMS. It is well known that FNET can detect the dynamic behavior of system and obtain the real-time frequency information. Therefore, FDRs must adopt a optimal frequency estimation method that is robust to noise and fault. In this paper, we present comparative studies for the frequency estimation method using IRDWT(improved recursive discrete wavelet transform), for the frequency estimation method using FRDWT(fast recursive discrete wavelet transform). we used the Republic of Korea 345kV power system modeling data by EMTP-RV. The user-defined arbitrary waveforms were used in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed two kinds of RDWT. Also, the frequency variation data in various range, both large range and small range, were used for simulation. The simulation results showed that the proposed frequency estimation technique using FRDWT can be the optimal frequency measurement method applied to FDRs.

  • In this paper, a comparative study on the frequency estimation methods using IRDWT (Improved Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), FRDWT(Fast Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), and GCDFT(Gain Compensator Discrete Fourier Transform) is presented. The 345[kV] power system modeling data of the Republic of Korea by EMTP-RV is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed two kinds of RDWT(IRDWT and FRDWT) and GCDFT. The simulation results show that the frequency estimation technique based on FRDWT could be the optimal frequency measurement method, and thus can be applied to FDR(Fault Disturbance Recorder) for wide-area blackout protection or frequency measurement apparatus.

  • Voltage and current phasor estimation has been executed by GPS-based synchronized PMU, which has become an important way of wide-area blackout protection for the prevention of expending faults in a power system. The PMU technique can not easily get the field data and it is impossible to share information, so that there has been used a FNET(Frequency Monitoring Network) method for the wide-area intelligent protection in USA. It consists of FDR(Fault Disturbance Recorder) and IMS(Information Management System). Therefore, FDR must provide an optimal frequency estimation method that is robust to noise and failure. In this paper, we present comparative studies for the frequency estimation method using IRDWT(Improved Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), FRDWT(Fast Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), and DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform). The Republic of Korea345[kV] power system modeling data by EMTP-RV are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed two kinds of RDWT(Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform) and DFT. • Power system frequency is the main index of power quality indicating an abnormal state and disturbances of systems. The nominal frequency is deviated by sudden change in generation and load or faults. Power system is used as frequency relay to detection for off-nominal frequency operation and connecting a generator to an electrical system, and V/F relay to detection for an over-excitation condition. Under these circumstances, power system should maintain the nominal frequency. And frequency and frequency deviation should accurately measure and quickly estimate by frequency measurement device. The well-known classical method, frequency estimation technique based on the DFT, could be produce the gain error in accuracy. To meet the requirements for high accuracy, recently Wavelet transforms and analysis are receiving new attention. The Wavelet analysis is possible to calculate the time-frequency analysis which is easy to obtain frequency information of signals. However, it is difficult to apply in real-time implementation because of heavy computation burdens. Nowadays, the computational methods using the Wavelet function and transformation techniques have been searched on these fields. In this paper, we apply the Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform (RDWT) for the frequency estimation. In order to evaluate performance of the proposed technique, the user-defined arbitrary waveforms are used.
