The research for organizational system with effective RCM analysis (효과적인 RCM분석을 위한 조직체계에 관한 연구)

  • In present, RCM has been hot issue in the domestic railway industry areas. Based on this circumstance, in this paper, for the purpose of an effective RCM system construction, a suitable organization structures which are to be applied to the railway system is proposed. Some examples and descriptions about the responsibilities and the roles which should be done by each RCM team, during the RCM analysis, as step by step for RCM analysis are also described. By using the formalized organization, the tasks for maintenance are allocated to each staff and the data for RCM analysis could be managed, systematically, as well. To sum up, it would be expected that based on the systematic organization structure for RCM analysis, the results of RCM analysis, that mean the maintenance methods and intervals for preventive maintenance, on specific railway system could be more reliable and accurate.

  • This paper is concerned with the reliability centered maintenance (RCM) of the Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) vehicle system. Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) has developed the AGT vehicle system from 1999 to 2004. The provisions for a specific maintenance system including RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability & safety) of AGT vehicle system is necessary for maintaining good operation conditions. RCM is a process used to determine what must be done to ensure that any system continues to do whatever its users want it to do in its present operating conditions. Therefore, we introduce RCM in details and describe how RCM should be applied to AGT vehicle system on Gyeong-San test line. Analyses to approach RCM to AGT vehicle system are demonstrated in the seven steps that contain each main task and detailed operating conditions.

A Study on RCM Approach to Catenary System of Electric Railway (전기철도 가공전차선로의 신뢰성 기반 유지보수(RCM)에 관한 연구)

  • A RCM approach to maintenance of the catenary system of electric railway is proposed. The proposed RCM approach provides a maintenance-oriented FMECA procedure to derive critical failure modes by analyzing failure effects and a RCM decision logic tree to suggest optimal maintenance works for the derived failure modes. By applying the proposed RCM procedures to the catenary system of high speed railway, it is suggested that strand breaks of dropper and voltage equalizing wire, and trolly wire wear-out are the critical failure modes for whom maintenance works based on condition monitoring should be applied instead of conventional time-based preventive maintenance. It is also proposed by reliability analysis that replacement time of dropper can be reduced from 18 years to 10 years. These results show that the proposed RCM approach can optimize the maintenance procedures of catenary system.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to propose that domestic rail must the work to be done in the RCM system and railway operators are to present a direction to establish the efficient and systematic system based on this. Methods : In recent years, domestic railway accidents has decreased year rapidly every year. In particular, suicidal ideation was greater than 50% of the accidents is showing a larger decrease in the influence of the screen-door construction. However, the train delay has been maintained without major changes since 2010. The most important cause of the delay operation is a vehicle breakdown. This fact demonstrates that effective maintenance of the most important activities in the railway accident prevention activities. So we have to build a RCM system in which the characteristics of the domestic railway accident. Conclusion : We proposed what is necessary functionality and the function requires a railway operators in RCM railway systeml.

  • RCM developed by American air industry in early 1960, its process is most realistic for some physical assets and it permits the system to maintain given function status through decision of demand about optimum maintenance. Therefore, many industries have selected RCM technique and have carried out RCM in order to solve many problems concerning maintenance management as improvement of reliability and availability of facilities, removal of hazard element about break down and retrenchment of maintenance cost. Through the execution of RCM, we can solve actual problems. And finally we will be able to develop more and more maintenance activities with RCM notion. In this study, we will consider the application of KTX-RCM which is set up with basic theory of RCM and constructed to improve vehicle safety, availability and regularity of KTX, linking with CMMS(Computerized Maintenance Management System).

  • The role of maintenance in railway is going to be extended to improve the reliability of railway system in the aspect of Asset management gradually. In this paper, the meaning of reliability and safety in RCM which has been applied in order to improve the efficiency of maintenance is deduced. And the analysis task of reliability and safely which has been recommended in railway standards such as EN50126 and IEC62278 is reviewed in the aspect of RCM. Finally, the several ways are proposed to apply RCM to railway system through the comparison between the RCM procedure and the analysis procedure for the reliability and safety in railway standards. Hereafter, if the analysis of reliability and safety is performed with the concept of RCM in the beginning of railway business, it will be more efficient to improve the reliability and manage the railway asset.

Building TRMS S/W based on Reliability Centered Maintenance (신뢰성 기반의 유지보수를 위한 TRMS S/W개발)

  • In this paper the TRMS (Tilting Rolling-stock Maintenance System) that applies the concept of RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) and RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) to Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Policy for TTX (Tilting Train Express) will be discussed. We will briefly introduce the RCM concepts and discus show these concepts and procedures are implemented in the TRMS S/W. In the TRMS S/W there are four modules, System and Operations Information Module, FMECA(Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis)module, RAM Information Module, and RCM Analysis Module. The System and Operations Information Module provides the user interface for collection of systems and operations related data and the FMECA module provides a groundwork for the RCM analysis. The algorithms to calculate the reliability and failure rate for Weibull distribution and formulae to calculate the task intervals and task costs are proposed in the RAM and RCM Analysis Module respectively. There is a good possibility of applying RCM to other rolling stock maintenance systems if the benefit that RCM can brings to the maintenance world is fully recognized.

  • Recently, RCM(reliability centered maintenance) process is introduced and applied for the planning and implementing efficient and effective maintenance system in terms of optimal rolling stock maintenance. Particularly, cost-time benefits analysis associated with the implementation of RCM for rolling stock maintenance is necessary and required for railway operator in advance. The RCM process was primarily starting from military, airplane and nuclear industries and is now adapted in railway industry for local railway operators. This paper focuses on suggesting the way of connecting the RCM process with railway maintenance activities in the railway operation field. Thus, in order to introduce and establish reliability activities, it needs to review and evaluate the maintenance environment in the organizational point of view. Based on these reviews and evaluations, various maintenance methodologies are reviewed for customizing local railway field situations and establish specific process in the application of major systems on the reliability technology. In this paper, the railway RCM process is proposed for the establishment and construction of the systematic and optimal maintenance system.

Scheduling of Preventive Maintenance for Generating Unit Considering Condition of System (시스템의 상태를 고려한 발전설비의 예방 유지보수 계획 수립)

  • Traditional maintenance planning is based on a constant maintenance interval for equipment life. In order to consider economic aspect for time based preventive maintenance, preventive maintenance is desirable to be scheduled by RCM(Reliability-Centered Maintenance) evaluation. The main objective of RCM is to reduce the maintenance cost, by focusing on the most important functions of the system and avoiding or removing maintenance actions that are not strictly necessary. So, Markov state model is utilized considering stochastic state in RCM. In this paper, a Markov state model which can be used for scheduling and optimization of maintenance is presented. The deterioration process of system condition is modeled by the stepwise Markov model in detail. Also, because the system is not continuously monitored, the inspection is considered. In case study, simulation results about RCM will be shown using the real historical data of combustion turbine generating unit in Korean power systems.
