Lack of any Prognostic Relationship between Adiponectin Receptor (Adipo R1/R2) Expression for Early/Advanced Stage Gastric Cancer

  • Introduction: Adiponectin (ApN) is a complement C1q-related protein, mainly secreted from adipose tissue, that signals through ApN receptor1 (Adipo-R1) and ApN receptor 2 (Adipo-R2). Low serum ApN concentrations are associated with obesity-related malignancies. However, there are very few studies on any prognostic role of ApN receptors in gastric cancer. Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between AdipoR1/R2 expression and early/advanced stage gastric cancer in terms of clinicopathologic characteristics and survival. Materials and Methods: Eighteen patients with early and 39 with advanced stage gastric cancer who underwent surgical gastric resection were included in this study. Results: Adipo-R1 expression was low in 2 of the 18 patients with early stage gastric cancer (11.1%), while 4 had low Adipo-R2 expression (22.2%). In those with advanced stage gastric cancer, 7 of 39 had low Adipo-R1 expression (17.9%) and 16 had low Adipo-R2 expression (41%). Adipo-R2 expression was significantly higher (p=0.011) in moderately differentiated tumors when compared to well-differentiated tumors. While there was nearly a statistically significant relationship between TNM stage (T, tumor size; N, regional lymph node; M, whether distant metastases exist) and Adipo-R2 expression (p=0.054), there was no relationship between Adipo-R1/-R2 expression with tumor stage and survival. Conclusion: Adipo-R1/-R2 expression has no prognostic significance of in early/advanced stage gastric cancer.

굴 패각이 음식쓰레기의 혐기성 퇴비화에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of waste Oyster Shell on Anaerobic Composting of Garbage)

  • 본 연구는 $CaCO_3$가 주성분인 굴 패각을 이용하여 혐기성퇴비화 반응시 율속단계의 원인인 pH저하를 감소시킴으로써 혐기성퇴비화에의 굴 패각 적용가능성에 대하여 조사하였다. 실험은 혐기성퇴비화 반응조 5기(R-l~R-5)를 제작하여 음식쓰레기와 접종을 위한 숙성퇴비를 넣은 뒤 굴 패각을 음식쓰레기 주입량에 대해 30%, 60%를 주입하여 중온에서 60일동안 실험하였으며, 메탄가스 발생량, 가스성분비, 유기물제거율 및 pH 등을 측정하였다. 실험결과 가스발생량은 R-1 $0.62{\ell}/g-VS$, R-2 $0.63{\ell}/g-VS$, R-3 $0.16{\ell}/g-VS$, R-4 $0.75{\ell}/g-VS$, R-5 $0.21{\ell}/g-VS$로 나타났으며, 메탄가스 발생량은 R-1 $0.32{\ell}/g-VS$, R-2 $0.37{\ell}/g-VS$, R-3 $0.04{\ell}/g-VS$, R-4 $0.42{\ell}/g-VS$, R-5 $0.05{\ell}/g-VS$로 나타났다. 혐기성퇴비화의 효율을 결정짓는 가스성분비는 R-2, R-4에서의 메탄가스발생량이 전체가스발생량의 55%이상으로 경제성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. pH는 굴 패각을 30% 넣어준 R-2, R-4에서 pH 6.0~8.0을 유지하였으며, 굴 패각을 60% 넣어준 R-3, R-5에서는 pH가 8.5이상으로 상승하여 미생물에 악영향을 미침으로써 혐기성 반응이 제대로 이루어지지 못하였다.

상수리나무 뿌리 분해 및 분해과정에 따른 영양염류 변화 (Decay Rate and Nutrients Dynamics during Decomposition of Oak Roots)

  • 상수리나무 뿌리의 분해율과 분해과정에 따른 영양염류의 변화를 조사하였다. 33개월경과 후 뿌리의 분해율은 직경 0.2㎝ 미만(R₁), 0.5∼1㎝(R₂), 1∼2㎝(R₃), 2∼4㎝(R₄)가 각각 49.6%, 47.5% 66.4%, 66.1%, 분해상수 k는 각각 0.249/yr, 0.234/yr, 0.397/yr, 0.393/yr로 직경이 큰 것의 분해율이 높았다. 상수리나무 뿌리는 유사한 직경의 상수리나무 가지에 비해 분해가 빠른 것으로 나타났다. 분해 과정에 따른 뿌리의 질소 함량은 모든 직경급에서 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 33개월경과 후 뿌리의 질소 잔존률은 R₁, R₂, R₃ 그리고 R₄ 각각 66.5%, 86.7%, 84.4%, 44.4%이었다. 분해중인 뿌리의 인 함량은 분해 초기에 감소하다 후반부에는 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 33개월 후 인의 잔존률은 R₁, R₂, R₃ 그리고 R₄ 각각 64.7%, 62.4%, 93.1% 30.7%이었다. 분해중인 뿌리의 칼륨 함량은 분해가 진행됨에 따라 초기 값보다 현저하게 감소하였으며, 33개월경과 후 칼륨의 잔존률은 R₁, R₂, R₃그리고 R₄에서 각각 11.6%, 10.6%, 5.9%, 7.7%이었다. 분해과정 중 칼슘 함량의 변화는 직경급에 따라 달랐으며, 33개월경과 후 칼슘의 잔존률은 R₁, R₂, R₃ 그리고 R₄에서 각각 66.2%, 51.0%, 39.1%, 48.3%이었다. 뿌리의 마그네슘 함량은 직경이 작을수록 초기 함량이 높았으며, 분해가 진행됨에 따라 R₄에서는 초기 값에 비해 함량이 증가하였으나 Rl₁ R₂, R₃에서는 초기 값보다 감소하였다. 33개월경과 후 마그네슘 잔존률은 R₁, R₂, R₃ 그리고 R₄에서 각각 15.3%, 29.9%, 24.6%, 69.4%로 칼슘과는 달리 직경이 큰 뿌리에서 잔존률이 높았다.on of hub-and-spoke system, integration of logistics bases, introduction of (automatic) parking building, diversification of transportation mode, and etc. At the same time, we constructed three practically executable scenarios based on those ideas. Stereoselective Reactions of 2,3-Diaminobutane with Platinum(Ⅱ). Complexes of Optically Active 6,6$^\prime$-Dimethyl-2,2$^\prime$-diaminobiphenyl

  • Stereospecific coordination of racemic 2,3-diaminobutane has been observed in the reaction with platinum(Ⅱ) complexes of optically active 6,6'-dimethyl-2,2'-diaminobiphenyl. The reaction between [Pt (R-dmdabp) Cl$_{2}$] (R-dmdabp is R-6,6'-dimethyl-2,2'-diaminobiphenyl) and unresolved bn (bn is 2,3-diaminobutane) has yielded [Pt(R-dmdabp)-(R-bn)] Cl$_{2}$ only, while the reaction of [Pt(S-dmdabp)Cl$_{2}$] with unresolvd bn has yielded [Pt(S-dmdabp) (S-bn)]Cl$_{2}$ only. On the other hand, the standard [Pt(R-dmdabp) (R-bn)] Cl$_{2}$ complex has been independently prepared from the reaction of [Pt(R-dmdabp)Cl$_{2}$] with R-bn, and the standard [Pt(S-dmdabp) (S-bn)] Cl$_{2}$ from the reaction of [Pt(S-dmdabp)Cl$_{2}$] with S-bn. The stereospecific behavior of the racemic 2,3-diamino-butane is thus confirmed from the comparison of these Pt(Ⅱ) complexes prepared using racemic bn with the standard Pt(Ⅱ) complexes prepared using R-bn or S-bn.

TOPOLOGICAL R2-DIVISIBLE R3-SPACES

  • There are many models to study topological $R^2$-planes. Unlike topological $R^2$-planes, it is difficult to find models to study topological R$^3$)-spaces. If an 4-dimensional affine plane intersects with R$^3$, we are able to get a geometrical structure on R$^3$ which is similar to R$^3$-space, and called $R^2$-divisible R$^3$-space. Such spatial geometric models is useful to study topological R$^3$-spaces. Hence, we introduce some classes of topological $R^2$-divisible R$^3$-spaces which are induced from 4-dimensional anne planes.

On the Subsemigroups of a Finite Cyclic Semigroup

  • Let S = C(r,m), the finite cyclic semigroup with index r and period m. Each subsemigroup of S is cyclic if and only if either r = 1; r = 2; or r = 3 with m odd. For $r{\neq}1$, the maximum value of the minimum number of elements in a (minimal) generating set of a subsemigroup of S is 1 if r = 3 and m is odd; 2 if r = 3 and m is even; (r-1)/2 if r is odd and unequal to 3; and r/2 if r is even. The number of cyclic subsemigroups of S is $r-1+{\tau}(m)$. Formulas are also given for the number of 2-generated subsemigroups of S and the total number of subsemigroups of S. The minimal generating sets of subsemigroups of S are characterized, and the problem of counting them is analyzed.

MicroRNAs as Promising Biomarkers for Tumor-staging: Evaluation of MiR21 MiR155 MiR29a and MiR92a in Predicting Tumor Stage of Rectal Cancer

  • Objective: In this study, tumor-stage predictive abilities of miR21, miR155, miR29a and miR92a were evaluated in rectal cancer (RC). Methods: Expression of miR21, miR155, miR29a and miR92a was detected and quantitated in tumor tissue and in adjacent normal tissue from 40 patients by TaqMan MicroRNA assay. Results: Significant overexpression of miR21, miR155, miR29a and miR92a was observed in RC tissues. While high expression of miR21, miR155 and miR29a in N1-2 and C-D stages presented a potential correlation with N and Duke stages, partial correlation analysis suggested that only miR155 rather than miR21 and miR29a played a greater influencing role. Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve analysis showed that miR155 could discriminate N0 from N1-2 with 85.0% sensitivity and 85.0% specificity, N2 from N0-1 with 90.0% sensitivity and 96.7% specificity, and C-D stage from A-B stage with 81.0% sensitivity and 84.2% specificity. Conclusions: Increase in expression of miR155 might represent a novel predictor for RC N and Dukes staging.

Anilinolysis of Diphenyl Thiophosphinic Chloride and Theoretical Studies on Various R1R2P(O or S)Cl

  • The aminolysis of diphenyl thiophosphinic chloride (2) with substituted anilines in acetonitrile at 55.0 oC is investigated kinetically. Kinetic results yield large Hammett ρX (ρnuc = ?3.97) and Bronsted βX (βnuc = 1.40) values. A concerted mechanism involving a partial frontside nucleophilic attack through a hydrogen-bonded, four-center type transition state is proposed on the basis of the primary normal kinetic isotope effects (kH/kD = 1.0-1.1) with deuterated aniline (XC6H4ND2) nucleophiles. The natural bond order charges on P and the degrees of distortion of 42 compounds: chlorophosphates [(R1O)(R2O)P(=O)Cl], chlorothiophosphates [(R1O)(R2O)P(=S)Cl], phosphonochloridates [(R1O)R2P(=O)Cl], phosphonochlorothioates [(R1O)R2P(=S)Cl], chlorophosphinates [R1R2P(=O)Cl], and chlorothiophosphinates [R1R2P(=S)Cl] are calculated at the B3LYP/ 6-311+G(d,p) level in the gas phase.

  • Suppose R is an idempotence-diagonalizable ring. Let n and m be two arbitrary positive integers with $n\;{\geq}\;3$. We denote by $M_n(R)$ the ring of all $n{\times}n$ matrices over R. Let ($J_n(R)$) be the additive subgroup of $M_n(R)$ generated additively by all idempotent matrices. Let ($D=J_n(R)$) or $M_n(R)$. In this paper, by using an additive idem potence-preserving result obtained by Coo (see [4]), I characterize (i) the additive preservers of tripotence from D to $M_m(R)$ when 2 and 3 are units of R; (ii) the additive preservers of inverses (respectively, Drazin inverses, group inverses, {1}-inverses, {2}-inverses, {1, 2}-inverses) from $M_n(R)$ to $M_n(R)$ when 2 and 3 are units of R.
