  • GERT modeling is in a dynamic stage of development. One of the most exciting and useful new developments in GERT modeling and Simulation is the modeling technology and computer package called Q-GERT. As the name implies, this provides the capability to analyze complex networks of queueing systems. The modeling approach is quite similar to GERT, but includes queue nodes called 'Select' nodes, which allow a considerable amount of logic to be included in the analysis of complex networks of multichannel, multiphase queueing systems should find the Q-OERT package of considerable interest.

  • Consider a job shop that is modelled as an open queueing network of the Jackson(l957) type. All work stations in the shop have the same number of parallel servers. Two problems are studied : the loading of stations and the assignment of servers, which are represented by loading and assingment vectors, respectively. Ma jorization and arrangement orderings are established to order, respectively, the loading and the assignment vectors. It is shown that reducing the loading vector under ma jorizat ion or increasing the assignment vector under arrangement ordering will reduce the congestion in the shop in terms of reducing the total number of jobs(in the sense of likelihood ratio ordering), the maximum queue length(in the sense of stochastic ordering), and the queue-length vector( in the sense of stochastic majorization). The results can be used to supprot production planning in certain job shops, and to aid the desing of storage capacity. • This study developed signal optimization algorithm by analyzing vehicle arrival patterns. The major principle of signal optimization is dissipate all queueing vehicle in 1cycle and assign delay time uniformly for all approaches. For this, this study used optimal green time and surplus green time. Optimal green time calculated by estimated traffic volume from vehicle arrival model. Surplus green time defined as the gap of optimal green time and queue dissipated time. And alternative cycle has minimum surplus green time was selected as the optimal cycle. Finally, total delay and average delay per vehicle can be calculated by using queueing theory.

  • In this paper, we consider a system working at both primary service and secondary service. A server can switch between the primary service and the secondary service or it can be assigned to secondary service as a dedicated server. A service policy is characterized by the number of servers dedicated to the secondary service and a rule for switching the remaining servers between two services. The primary service system is modelled as a Markovian queueing system and the throughput is a function of the number of servers, buffer capacity, and service policy. And the secondary service system has a service level requirement strategically determined to perform the service assigned. There is a revenue obtained from throughput and costs due to servers and buffers. We study the problem of simultaneously determining the optimal total number of servers, buffers, and service policy to maximize profit of the system subject to both an expected customer waiting time constraint of the primary service and a service level constraint of the secondary service and develop an algorithm which can be successfully applied with the small number of computations.

  • Due to the data processing development by the computer, the early warning system recently has made a remarkable evolution in its functions and performance as a component of the communication and control system which is also supported by the computer communication and intelligence system. In this paper it is presented that a integrated data processing system is designed to integrate the information sent from the various radar systems which constitute an early warning system. The suggested system model of this paper is devided into two types of structures, the centralized model and the distributed model, according to the data processing algorithm. We apply the queueing theory to analyse the performance of the designed models and the OPNET system kernel to make the analysing program with C language. From the analysis of the queueing components by applying the analysis programs to the designed systems, we got the tendancies and characteristics of both models, that is, a fast data processing performance of the distributed model and a stable data processing capability of the centralized model.

  • A multi-server queueing system with an infinite buffer and impatient customers is analyzed. The system operates in the finite state Markovian random environment. The number of available servers, the parameters of the batch Markovian arrival process, the rate of customers' service, and the impatience intensity depend on the current state of the random environment and immediately change their values at the moments of jumps of the random environment. Dynamics of the system is described by the multi-dimensional asymptotically quasi-Toeplitz Markov chain. The ergodicity condition is derived. The main performance measures of the system are calculated. Numerical results are presented.

  • We consider an M$_1$, M$_2$/G/1/ K retrial queueing system with a finite priority queue for type I calls and infinite retrial group for type II calls where blocked type I calls may join the retrial group. These models, for example, can be applied to cellular mobile communication system where handoff calls have higher priority than originating calls. In this paper we apply the supplementary variable method where supplementary variable is the elapsed service time of the call in service. We find the joint generating function of the numbers of calls in the priority queue and the retrial group in closed form and give some performance measures of the system.

  • In this paper, steady-state controllable M/G/1 queueing systems operating under the dyadic policies are considered. A new method to obtain the expected busy period when the D-policy is involved in system operation, is developed. This new method requires derivation of so called 'the pseudo probability density function' of the busy period for the system under consideration, which is completely different from its actual probability density function. However, the proposed pseudo probability density function does generate the correct expected busy period through simple procedures.

  • Assembly/Disassembly Queueing Networks (ADQNs) with finite buffers have been used as a major tool for evaluating the performances of manufacturing and parallel processing systems. In this study, we present simple but effective methods which yield throughput upper and lower bounds for ADQNs with exponential service times and finite buffers. These methods are based on the monotonicity properties of throughputs with respect to service times and buffer capacities. The throughput-upper bounding method is elaborated on with general network configuration (specifically acyclic configuration). But our lower bounding method is restricted to the ADQNs with more specialized configuration. Computational experiments will be performed to confirm the effectiveness of our throughput-bounding methods.

  • Ethernet-based passive optical network(EPON) technology is being considered as a promising solution for next-generation broadband access network. It must have the property of high efficiency, low cost, and support quality of service(QoS). A major feature for this new architecture is the use of a shared transmission media between all connected optical network unit(ONU). Hence, medium access control(MAC) arbitration mechanisms are essential for the successful implementation of EPON. In this paper we propose a simple dynamic bandwidth allocation(DBA) algorithm that improves the performance of network and supports IP-based multimedia applications with the bursty data traffic. In addition, we introduce analytic models of proposed algorithms and prove the system based on our algorithm to be asymptotically stable. Simulation results show the new DBA algorithm provides high bandwidth efficiency and low queueing delay of ONU in EPON.
