This paper presents some simple thinking on an age-old question that given a bridge of a certain span and loading, from the point of view of the structural efficiency, where should the bridge deck be positioned? Generally, this decision is made for other reasons than structural efficiency such as aesthetics and the analyst is often presented with a fait accompli. Using the recently invented Evolutional Structural Optimisation (ESO) method, it is possible to demonstrate that having the deck at different vertical locations can lead to a very different mass and shape for each structural form resembling cable-stayed and cable-truss bridges. By monitoring a performance index which is the function of stresses and volume of discretised finite elements, the best optimised structure can be easily determined and the bridge deck positioning problem can be efficiently solved without resorting to any complex analysis procedures.

The primary aim of this paper is to analyze the resultative adjunct clause, i.e., (thus/thereby/hence) ~ing participle and provide explicit syntactic, semantic and sociolinguistic explanation on the question what causes the cause-focused causal construction with resultative (thus/thereby/hence) ~ing participle in English. What comes first is either cause or effect clause. This study explores the recent style shift of causal constructions from the effect-focused pattern to the cause-focused pattern. In this study, we argue that the increasing number of the cause-focused main clause with a resultative ~ing participle clause shows the process of the style evolution improving speech/wring style in many respects including syntactic simplification, clarification of the sentence meaning with impact on the focused clauses, and improvement of the flow of speech/writing. The style shift found in the English resultative adjunct clauses, i.e., (thus/hence/thereby) ~ing participle constructions prove to be the style evolution from syntactic, semantic and sociolinguistic point of views.

The Pre-Raphaelite oeuvre abounds in the image of women, which indicates the impact of gender question on contemporary visual culture. The representation of women in their art tends to evince the entrenched myth of womanhood, marked by a stereotyped dichotomy in the apprehension of femininity. Yet there are a significant number of pictures which attest to the point that their iconography of womanhood cannot be fully elucidated by exploring the dichotomy alone. They falsify the dyadic model, defying the attempt to accommodate them in a clean-cut category. The curious blend of the mystical, the sensual, and the domestic that characterizes these images suggests that they are open to multiple interpretations. In sum, the Pre-Raphaelite representation of women both endorses and challenges the ideal of femininity, indicating that it was shaped by and shaped contemporary perceptions of women at a time when gender relations were shifting and the traditional institution of patriarchy revealed a sign of strain.

This essay examines the significance of Yank's struggle to belong in Eugene O'Neill's play, The Hairy Ape in light of Nietzsche's definition of man as "a rope tied between beast and overman." Contending that Yank's death in the gorilla's cage signifies both a defeat and his only chance of success, the essay investigates how his "tink[ing]" leads him to question his former understanding of what it means to belong. Knowing his struggle to belong is bound to fail, Yank uncompromisingly seeks to fit into the point of completely isolating himself from all other species in the gorilla's cage. Consequently, he becomes "the Hairy Ape" and opens up the possibility of belonging by creating and becoming the species of one to which he alone belongs. Echoing Nietzsche's vision of greatness in man, Yank's endeavor proves that what is noble "in man is that he is a bridge" rather than "a goal."

Purpose of this study grasps use factor of LBS application Mobile service, and it is that analyze actual proof through questionnaire to grasp whether some relation is with value and action determination that is felt of LBS application Mobile service. Distributed all question of 190 copies but disk floret inclination did valid data 171 that clear question and omission remove a lot of questions by type of study among questionnaire of collected 182 wealths. Analyzed factor analysis and authoritativeness to search validity and confidence of questionnaire and used single regression analysis and multiple regression analysis for hypothetical verification. According to verification result, Mobile service that apply position base service usefulness and system quality, adaptedness of Mobile service that apply position base service by leading person affecting in use, acted for connection healthy and felt value is important factor immediately. Usability and social effect, felt expense, privacy did not appear by leading person that keep in mind in this study. Is been related with step that Mobile service that apply position base service is placed. On admet Jusqu'ici que le XVe siecle est une $\acute{e}poque$ phare de l'histoire de l'imprimerie avec l'apparition de la typographie en Orient et en Occident, $c'est-\acute{a}-dire$ en $Cor\acute{e}e$ sur le Rhim. Cependant, $l'\acute{e}poque$ de l'invention typographique en $Cor\acute{e}e$ doit $\hat{e}tre$ $devanc\acute{e}e$ encore d'un ou deux siecle. Outre cette question, il est $\acute{a}$ noter ici que les caracteres mobiles $m\acute{e}talliques$ Kyemi, fondus en 1403, ont $jou\acute{e}$ un $r\hat{o}le$ $tr\acute{e}s$ important dans l'histoire de la typographie mondiale et que les $caract\acute{e}res$ kabin qui leur $succ\acute{e}derent$ en 1434 menerent la typographie $cor\acute{e}enne$ a son $apog\acute{e}e$. Or, les recherches $cor\acute{e}ennes$ se satifait de la primaute de l'invention en Coree des caracteres mobiles metalliques, mais n'adoptent pas une attitude suffisament critique. Aussi, l'auteur a-toil voulu s'interroger sur la veritable valeur de la typographie de la dynastie de Choson tant au point de vue de l'histoire de l'imprimerie mondiale. En premier lieu, on etudie, comme une chronique, les caracteres mobiles metalliques importants tout au long de la dynastie de Choson sans donner une interpretation nouvelle. C'est dans deux derniers, qu'on essaie de developper ses idees sur la typographie en Coree notamment la question technologique qui devrait etre le fond des recherches. Aussi, on y etudie, la technique de la typographie ancienne en Coree interpretee selon une methode scientifique et moderne et, enfin, le bilan synthetique en cherchant les raisons qui freinerent son developpement en Coree malgre la performance de ses debuts. A l'issue de ces recherches, on ne peut s'empecher d'eprouver une certaine insatisfaction a cause de l'ambiguite des explications que l'on trouve dans des documents fondamentaux. Avec ce difficulte on a voulu, au moins, exposer des points discutatables qui devraient etre les recherches a futur.

본 연구에서는 학습자의 수준에 적합한 문제를 제공하는 문제은행 시스템을 설계하고 개발하였다. 이 시스템은 CAT 기법에 응용되는 문항반응 이론을 사용하여 현재까지의 학습결과를 바탕으로 학습자의 수준을 동적으로 계산하고, 이를 바탕으로 학습자의 수준에 가장 적절한 문제를 다음 문제로 제시하는 과정을 반복하면서 수준별 개별 학습을 지원한다. 이 시스템은 테스트 단계, 본 학습 단계와 복습 단계로 이루어진다. 테스트 단계에서는 학습자의 초기 수준을 가능한 한 정확하게 계산하여 본 학습의 수준을 정한다. 본 학습에서는 문항반응 이론에 의한 수준별 개별 학습이 이루어진다. 학습이 끝난 후, 틀린 문제를 복습하여 학습이 견고해지도록 하기 위해, 마지막으로 복습단계가 포함되어 있다. 학습결과로 제시되는 내용은 흔히 사용되는 접수가 아니라, 문항반응 이론에 의해 계산된 학습자의 능력을 절대 수치값으로 나타낸 것으로, 이를 통해 학습 능력의 향상 정도를 객관적으로 파악할 수 있도록 하였다.

Objectives : To understand the basis for future improvement and development in the lectures, an evaluation was made on the lecture by the 'theory-practice-self study' system initiated in 'Yangseng Qigong(養生氣功) and practice' at Daegu Haani University. Method : We surveyed the satisfaction of 'Yangsaeng Qigon and Practice' which is the lecture that is composed theory, practice, self study for 120 students at college of oriental medicine in Daegu Haani University. Result : In the inquiry for the satisfaction with the general class of 'Yangsaeng Qigong and practice', 69% of students answered positively. As to the satisfaction with class grouping, 76% answered affirmatively, and as to the question "Agreement to the plan workable?", 72% said it was satisfactory, showing lectures by class grouping were made successful as planed. As to satisfaction with theory lectures, 36% were satisfied (38% unsatisfied), as to practice 90% was satisfied (2% unsatisfied) and as to the self-study and special lectures, 36% was satisfied (23% unsatisfied), showing the satisfaction was relatively higher for practice. To the question "Was it helpful in understanding hygiene Danjeon-breathing science?", 31% said yes (16% no) for theory, 87% yes (3% no) for practices, 32% yes (32% no) for special lectures, and 37% yes (28% no) for team assignments. Conclusions : The textbooks and majors of the lecturers turned out to be varied, but as seen from the result of lecture satisfaction on 'Yangseng Qigong and practice', it was different according to the preparedness of the lecturers and satisfaction with the lecture material. Despite the situation that most schools have chosen it as a major subject, the subject name was divergent among schools and the textbook and the content of practice were also not unified. At the point of globally rising interest in Qigong, this will only lead to its weak competitiveness when advancing to the world.

This study aims to explore group inquiry using science writing heuristic in elementary school science. We observed and examined what elementary students experienced in their science classes and moreover how they used their data to support their claims in the view point of scientific epistemology. The research question of this study is 'what is the result of coherence measurement for figuring out the relationship between argument and ground in group inquiry activity?'. To solve the study question, one fifth-grade class at an elementary school was selected. Four lessons in group inquiry using a worksheet of science writing heuristic were videotaped and transcribed. It was found that the hours of group inquiry when students can discuss meaningfully occupied approximately 37 to 45%. When measuring coherence in each lesson by developing a scale from one to five to estimate the coherence of the work sheet designed, the total average was 3.424. It implicated that students had their claims supported by some of their evidences. Although the figure was not enough to assist that they found strong bonds between their claims and data, they started to move forward to epistemological approach in their science lab works.

이 연구에서는 경북 지역의 사범대학에 개설된 화학교육론 강좌에 클리커로 알려진 교실 응답 시스템을 적용한 뒤 이에 대한 예비 화학교사들의 인식을 조사하였다. 강의 첫 시간에 클리커의 교육적 활용 방법과 사용법에 대해 소개한 뒤, 수업 중 평균 4-5개의 질문을 제시하였다. 이 질문에 대한 답을 예비교사들에게 클리커로 입력하게 한 뒤, 응답 분포를 확인하고 이에 대한 피드백을 제공하였다. 예비교사들에게 제시된 질문은 학습 내용을 회상하는 질문, 관련 내용에 대한 이해정도를 점검하는 질문, 어떤 사안에 대한 견해를 확인하는 질문, 이해가 어려운 내용에 대한 질문이 다양하게 포함되었다. 학기 말에 클리커 활용에 대한 예비교사들의 인식을 리커트 형식과 에세이 형식으로 조사한 결과, 예비 화학교사들은 클리커 활용의 인지적 효과, 정의적 효과, 그리고 매체 특성 측면 모두에서 긍정적으로 인식하였다. 8가지 클리커 질문 유형 중 예비교사들이 선호하는 유형은 개념 이해 질문과 학습 점검 질문이었다. 클리커를 활용한 구체적인 사례와 연구 결과에 대한 교육학적 함의도 포함되었다.
