  • This paper presents a novel topological prototype of voltage source series quasi-resonant zero current soft-switching pulse frequency modulated dc-dc power converter circuit using IGBTs which incorporates a high-frequency flyback transformer link. Its steady-state operating principle is described on the basis of simulation analysis, along with the open loop controlled power regulation characteristics of the multi-functional coupled inductors linked dc-dc power converter operating under a principle of zero current soft switching commutation.

  • This paper presents an innovative prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction eddy current based fluid heating appliance using voltage-fed quasi resonant zero voltage soft switching PWM high-frequency inverter using IGBTs, which can operate at a constant frequency variable power regulation scheme. The promising simple high efficient low noise inverter type electromagnetic induction eddy current based pipeline fluid heating appliance is proposed for saturated steam generator, superheated steam generator, hot water and hot air producer, metal catalyst heating for exhaust gas cleaning in engine. Under these technological backgrounds, a novel electromagnetic induction eddy current Dual Packs Heater(DPH) based pipeline fluid heating incorporates thin metal layer type package for continuous fluid heating appliances applying two types of voltage-fed quasi load resonant ZVS-PWM high frequency inverter. The unique features of a novel electromagnetic induction eddy current DPH based continuous pipeline fluid heating appliance is illustrated on the basis of simulation and discussed for the steady state operating characteristics and experimental results.

  • This paper proposed a method for controlling the active power of a single-phase grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) system by the quasi-Z-source inverter (QZSI). The MPPT of PV array is achieved by adjusting a shoot-through time of QZSI. The PI+R controller is used for reducing the steady-state error of the grid current. The simulation studies are carried out to verify the performances of proposed system.

  • 낙동강하구둑은 하구둑 상류로의 염수침입을 방지하여 지속적인 용수를 공급하기 위해 1987년에 건설되었으며 이후 매년 하구둑 상류 접근수로에 퇴적되는 유사를 제거하기 위해 준설 작업이 수행되어져 왔다. 준설작업뿐만 아니라 산업 및 주거 시설의 개발사업 등의 하천 환경 변화로 인해 하구둑 상류에서의 유사 이송 및 하상 특성은 꾸준히 변화되어 왔으나 하구둑이 건설된 이 후 유사이송 및 하상변동에 대한 현장 모니터링 및 연구는 활발히 수행되지 못하였다. 이에 본 논문은 낙동강 하류의 대상구간에 대해 현장 측정 자료 및 과거 자료들을 최대한 활용하여 낙동강하류에서의 하상변동 및 계절별 유사농도 등의 변화를 분석하였으며 검증된 기초자료들과 준정상류 모형을 이용하여 하구둑 상류에 시행되고 있는 준설작업의 수행 여부에 따른 홍수 발생시 수위 변화에 대해서 수치모의를 실시함으로써 낙동강하구둑에서의 준설효과를 분석하였다.

  • 항공기 및 철도차량 운용 중 발생하는 착빙 및 착설 현상은 공력 성능 감소와 주요 부품의 파손을 야기하기 때문에 시간에 따른 얼음 증식을 예측하는 것이 운용 안전 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 결빙수치해석은 실험적 방법에 비해 경제적으로 저렴하고 상사성 문제로부터 자유롭다는 점에서 결빙 형상을 예측하기 위한 수단으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 결빙수치해석은 착빙노출시간을 multi-step으로 나누어 매 단계별로 정상상태를 가정하는 준정상상태(quasi-steady) 가정을 이용한다. 이러한 방법은 효율적인 해석이 가능하지만 연속적인 결빙 형상을 얻지 못한다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 차원축소기법을 활용하여 결빙 형상 데이터를 보간함으로써 시간에 따른 결빙 형상을 연속적으로 예측할 수 있는 모델을 만드는 것을 목적으로 한다. 서로 다른 100개의 결빙 조건에서 형성된 결빙 데이터에 대하여 차원축소모델을 적용하였으며, 학습 데이터의 수와 결빙 조건이 차원축소모델의 예측 오차에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

  • 본 논문은 고압 방전램프를 점등시켜 주는 전자식 안정기에 관한 것으로서, Class D LCC 공진 인버터 방식을 이용하여, 램프의 초기 점등, 정상상태를 구동하게 하고, 준구형파로 ZC-ZVS Soft Switching을 구현하여 풀-브리지 스위치의 발열을 최소화할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한, RCD 스너버 회로를 적용하여 스위치 발열 감소뿐만 아니라, 고주파 스위칭으로 인한 서지 전압의 감소를 통한 노이즈를 최소화시켜 제어부의 안정되고, 신뢰성 있는 동작을 가능하게 할 수 있도록 하고, 안정기의 전체적인 스위칭 노이즈 발생을 최소화하였다.

  • This paper describes an advanced prototype of voltage-fed zero voltage soft-switching PWM resonant inverter with an active voltage clamped capacitor, which is put into practice for high-frequency high-power induction-heated appliances. This application-specific quasi-resonant inverter using the latest generation IGBTs for soft-switching can regulate its output power under a principle of a fixed frequency ZVS-PWM strategy. Its operating principle and unique features are presented as compared with a conventional quasi-resonant ZVS inverter for induction-heated cooker, together with its power regulation characteristics on the basis of its simulation and experimental results. The steady-state performances of this inverter developed for multi-burner type induction-heated food cooking appliance are evaluated and discussed from a practical point of view.

Global MHD Simulation of a Prolonged Steady Weak Southward Interplanetary Magnetic Field Condition

  • We performed high-resolution three-dimensional global magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations to study the interaction between the Earth's magnetosphere and a prolonged steady southward interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) (Bz = -2nT) and slow solar wind. The simulation results show that dayside magnetic reconnection continuously occurs at the subsolar region where the magnetosheath magnetic field is antiparallel to the geomagnetic field. The plasmoid developed on closed plasma sheet field lines. We found that the vortex was generated at the magnetic equator such as (X, Y) = (7.6, 8.9) RE due to the viscous-like interaction, which was strengthened by dayside reconnection. The magnetic field and plasma properties clearly showed quasiperiodic variations with a period of 8-10 min across the vortex. Additionally, double twin parallel vorticity in the polar region was clearly seen. The peak value of the cross-polar cap potential fluctuated between 17 and 20 kV during the tail reconnection.

오리피스 링이 부착된 원관내 주기적인 난류운동에 대한 수치해석 (Numerical Study of Periodic Turbulent Flow for a Pipe with an Orifice Ring)

  • This paper investigated the characteristics of the turbulent incompressible flow past the orifice ring in an axi-symmetric pipe. The flow field was the turbulent pulsatile flow for Reynolds number of $2{\times}10^{5}$ which was defined based on the maximum velocity and the pipe diameter at the inlet, with oscillating frequence $(f_{os})=1/4{\pi}$ which was considered as quasi-steady state frequence. In the present investigation, finite analytic method was used to solve the governing equations in Navier Stokes and turbulent transport formulations. Particularly at high Reynolds number and low oscillation frequency, the effects of orifice ring on the flow were numerically investigated. The separation zone behind the orifice ring during the acceleration phase was found to be decreased. However, during the deceleration phase, the separation behind the orifice ring for pulsatile flow continuously grow to a size even larger than that in steady flow. The pressure drop in steady flow was found to be constant and always positive while for pulsatile flow the pressure drop change with time. And large turbulent kinetic energy, dissipation rate were found to be located in the region where the flow passes through the orifics ring. The maximum turbulent kinetic energy, generally occurs along the shear layer where the velocity gradient is large.

  • In the present study, the pressure distribution, wall shear stress distribution and friction factor of developing turbulent pulsating flows are investigated theoretically and experimentally in the entrance region of a square duct. The pressure distribution for turbulent pulsating flows are in good agreement with the theoretical values. The time-averaged pressure gradients of the turbulent pulsating flows show the same tendency as those of turbulent steady flows as the time-averged Reynolds number $(Re_{ta})$ increase. Mean shear stresses in the turbulent pulsating flow increase more in the inlet flow region than in the fully developed flow region and approach to almost constant value in the fully developed flow region. In the turbulent pulsating flow, the friction factor of the quasi-steady state flow $({\lambda}_{q, tu})$ follow friction factor's law in turbulent steady flow. The entrance length of the turbulent pulsating flow is not influenced by the time-averaged Reynolds number $(Re_{ta})$ and it is about 40 times as large as the hydraulic diameter.
