  • In this study, in order to facilitate analysis in a continuous sequence, including the concept of the landscape experience time, countless frames of a continuous landscape were extracted. The amount of visual elements in each frame was data-converted numerically to take advantage of the quantitative data necessary for landscape planning and design was calculated in the rhythm of the sequence. In Order to shoot video with the flow of the line of sight of experience in landscape districts and landscape control points along the landscape corridor which is a continuous path, each of the corresponding computer motion techniques. This study developed a CRVP Koo computer program to effectively calculate the continuous visual number of specific landscape components by extracting uncounted frames at regular intervals, and after verifying, attempting to apply this to the target site. Through the applied result, it was possible to extract the digitized quantitative rhythm for each component of each landscape, the margin of error is very small when compared with the results of manual in photoshop, it was able to overcome the drawbacks of the manual. Using the rhythm of the derived sequence, and those close to the experience of the landscape, it was possible to achieve quantitative analysis derived from a variety of perspectives as well as was possible to be used as quantitative basis data and analysis technique for landscape planning and design.

  • Telomeres are special structures at the ends of eukaryotic chromosomes. Vertebrate telomeres consist of tandem repeats of conserved TTAGGG sequence and associated proteins. Birds are interesting models for molecular studies on aging and cellular senescence because of their slow aging rates and longer life spans for their body size. In this longitudinal study, we explored the possibility of using telomeres as an age-marker to predict age in Single Comb White Leghorn layer chickens. We quantified the relative amount of telomeric DNA in isolated peripheral blood lymphocytes by the Quantitative Fluorescence in situ Hybridization technique on interphase nuclei (IQ FISH) using telomere-specific DNA probes. We found that the amount of telomeric DNA (ATD) reduced significantly with an increase in chronological age of the chicken. Especially, the telomere shortening rates are greatly increased in growing individuals compared to laying and old-aged individuals. Therefore, using the ATD values obtained by IQ FISH we established the possibility of age prediction in chickens based on the telomere theory of aging. By regression analysis of the ATD values at each age interval, we formulated an equation to predict the age of chickens. In conclusion, the telomeric DNA values by IQ FISH analyses can be used as an effective age-marker in predicting the chronological age of chickens. The study has implications in the breeding and population genetics of poultry, especially the reproductive potential.

  • It is well known that the reliability of materials of mechanical products is becoming more and more important not only for assurance of quality, but for international competition of products. In order to assure the reliability of materials or mechanical products nondestructive evaluation (NDE) techniques are playing more important roles. The existence of Internal defects in materials or mechanical parts is served as crack initiation site during the various loading condition. Historically, nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technique has been used almost exclusively for detecting microscopic discontinuities In materials or mechanical parts after they have been in service to expand the role of the NDE to include all aspects of materials production and application. Research efforts are being directed at developing and perfecting NDE techniques capable of monitoring (1) materials production processes (2) material integrity following transport, storage and fabrication and (3) the amount and rate of degradation during service. In addition, efforts are underway to develop technique capable of quantitative discontinuity sizing, permitting determination of response using fracture mechanics analysis, as well as techniques for quantitative materials characterization to replace the qualitative techniques used in the past. In this paper, the important role of NDE technology for reliability assurance of materials/mechanical parts is introduced.

  • This study intends to acquire objective models for basic quantitative analysis of pattern and space through image-recognition technique, and verify the effectiveness of such acquired models. Many experiments showed that the recognized result can be varied depending on the different viewpoints and the analysis based on the single-viewpoint images does not provide objectivity. The experiment using multi-viewpoint image models, which was attempted as an alternative for the disadvantages, showed the recognition similar to that of the actual model. Especially, images generated at laboratory using miniature model may be useful in comparing and understanding plural number of patterns. The models that have been acquired using such images may be hard to use in acquiring images for analyzing actual building patterns or indoor space, although they may be useful in pattern analysis using miniature model. The disadvantage, however, can be supplemented with panorama VR and C. G. simulation technique. Steady researches are required on the application of visual information to the image recognition principle and the model for quantitative analysis of pattern and space in addition to the research on the construction of the model that can be used in comparing and analyzing not only form and space but also miniature models.

  • Respirator fit testing is required before entering specific work environmentals to ensure that the respirator worn satisfies a minimum of fit and that the user knows when the respirator fits properly. The fit of a respirator can be determined by qualitative (QLFT) or quantitative fit test (QNFT). The QNFT, having been universally accepted more than the QLFT, provide an objective and numerical basis by measuring a fit factor (FF). Until a few years age, only one QNFT technigue was available and accepted by U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. In the 1980's and 1990's, several new and fundamentally different QNFT methods were developed. Two of the newer methods are commercially availale and are accepted by OSHA as suitable alternatives. In this articles, the principle of operation of each ONFT technique is explained and each technique's major advantages and disadvantages are pointed out. Emphasis is given to negative-pressure air-purifying respirators, as they are in most frequent use today. The requirements and recommendations for fit testing positive-pressure respirators are discussed as well. Finally, the presently available QNFT standards and regulations are summarized to assist the user in making fit testing decisions.
