  • In this study was proposed a transient response analysis technique of a rotor system, applying the generalized FE modeling method of a rotor-bearing system considering a base-transferred shock force and together the state-space Newmark method of direct time integration scheme based on the average velocity concept. Experiments were performed to a test rig of a mock-up rotor-bearing system with series of half-sine shock waves imposed by an electromagnetic shaker, and quantitative error analyses between analytical and experimental results were carried out. The transient reponses of the rotor were sensitive to duration times and shape-qualities of the shock waves, and overally the analytical results agreed quite well with the experimental ones. Particularly, in cases that the frequencies, $1/(2{\times}duration\;time)$, of the shock waves were close to the critical speed of the rotor-bearing system, resonances occurred and the transient responses of the rotor were amplified.

  • Since Stewartia koreana leaves are registered with the Food and Drug Administration as edible herbal materials, they are used in the development of functional foods, cosmetics, and medicines. In this study, we established an analysis method that can simultaneously analyze two indicators, hyperoside (quercetin 3-O-galactoside) and isoquercitrin (quercetin 3-O-glucoside) contained in the leaves of S. koreana using HPLC-DAD. In accordance with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's health functional food guidelines, the analysis method was verified for specificity, accuracy, precision, limit of quantification, and linearity. The analysis method established in this study showed more than 0.9989 of the correlation coefficient values (r2) for the calibration. The total recovery rates of isoquercitrin and hyperoside were 100.55 and 98.87% with 0.14-0.78 and 0.47-0.67% of the relative standard deviation, respectively. Therefore, it was suggested that the new analytical method would be applied to standardize raw materials and high value-added products originated from the leaves of the S. koreana in the future.

  • The morphology and structure of precipitates of formed in Nb steels were investigated using SEM, TEM and XRD. The quantitative analysis of the precipitates was performed by ICP-AES. The potentiostatic etching method was employed as an extraction method using 10% AA-methanol and 15% Na-citrate electrolytes. The two selected potentials relative to SCE(Standard Calomel Electrode), -100mV in 10% AA-methanol solution and -250mV in 15% Na-citrate solution were found to be effective for the extraction. XRD analysis showed that composition of Nb carbonitride in Nb-steel(0.01% C-0.7% Nb-0.004N) was $NbC_{0.65}N_{0.2}$.

  • TXRF is a powerful technique for the soil sample analysis due to its ability to conduct quantitative analysis of powder sample without complicated pre-treatment processes. The conventional internal standard method used for this technique suffers from relatively low accuracy because of varying matrix effects of soil. In order to improve the accuracy, external standard method was applied to analyze two types of soil samples; acid-dissolutionized soil solution and detergent-suspended soil powder. Individual ICP-AES/MS grade standards were mixed, diluted and measured to create standard curves, but applying these curves for analyzing the soil solution sample did not make any improvement in comparison with the internal standard method. On the other hand, standard curves were created with using standard soil powders for the analysis of soil powder samples, and we found that this method increased the accuracy significantly relative to the internal standard method. Especially, Al, Fe, K, Ca, Ti, Ba, Mn, Sr, Rb, Cu was measured with relatively high accuracy (relative error = ${\pm}20%$).

  • It was studied to analyze the $CO_2$, CO, $SO_2$ standard gases of combustion gases by the open path FT-IR spectrometer with passive mode for remote analysis of air pollutant and volcano gases without IR lamp. As result, it was confirmed to have good linearity with more than 0.9 as correlation coefficients on the calibration curve of $CO_2$, CO concentration by MLR method. But in the case of $SO_2$, because the correlation coefficients were 0.88, the linearity could be lower. Finally, the concentration of three gases was predicted on in-site fire experiment under the condition of quantitative analysis. It could measure high $CO_2$ concentration as predicted result, but didn't measure the CO and $SO_2$. According to the result, it was possible to measure the combustion gases to long distance by only open path FT-IR spectrometer without infrared lamp.

  • Recently, for the purpose of choosing reasonable and economical construction, the decision making analyses, such as VE (Value Engineering) and LCC (Life Cycle Cost), are generally performed. But, these methods have some limitations for the application to subway tunnel construction method. So, the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) analysis is applied to determine relative importance for obtaining objectivity in quantitative analysis. And, the LCSC (Life Cycle Social Cost) method is developed to account for the social loss and risk by tunnel construction. From the case of the subway ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ lot, those methods are very useful to decision making analysis. And, in that case, both quantitative and quantitative analysis appraisement, the drilling and blasting method is evaluated useful alternative proposal in comparing with the cut and cover method.

  • A method for UV labeling of fatty acids with 2-bromoacetyltriphenylene using 18-crown-6-ether as a catalyst is described. The procedure is rapid, simple, quantitative and applicable to the HPLC analysis of fatty acids with UV detector. They have high molar absorptivity and their detection limit was about 1ng level. Nine derivatives of saturated fatty acid($C_{12}-C_{22}$) were separated on reverse-phase column(${\mu}$-Bondapak C-18) using acetonitrile-water gradient.
