Effect of intracanal cryotherapy on postendodontic pain: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

  • This systematic review aimed to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate the effectiveness of cryotherapy in the reduction of postendodontic pain. The review question was, "What will be the success rate of cryotherapy technique among human patients with postendodontic pain?". The review protocol was framed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist. Six studies were included in the review, and quantification of five studies was performed through a meta-analysis. In the forest plot representation of the studies comparing the control and cryotherapy groups in terms of the success rate in the management of postendodontic pain, the combined risk ratio (RR) was 0.80 (95% CI: 0.56 to 1.13) with a P value of 0.20. Based on the quantitative analysis, it can be suggested that intracanal cryotherapy does not play a significant role in reducing postendodontic pain.

  • A chemoinfometrical method for evaluating the quantitative determination of crystallinity one polymorphs based on fourie-transformed near-infrared (FT-NIR) spectroscopy was established. A direct comparison of the data with the ones collected from using the and compared with the conventional powder X-ray diffraction method was performed. [Method] The pPure a and g forms of indomethacin (IMC) were prepared by reportedusing published methods. Six kinds of standard samples obtained by physically mixing of a and g forms. After the powder X-ray diffraction profiles of samples have been measured, the intensity values were normalized to against the intensity of silicon powder as the as an external standard. The calibration curves for quantification of crystal content were based upon the total relative intensity of four diffraction peaks from of the form g crystal. FT-NIR spectra of six calibration sample sets were recorded 5 times with the NIR spectrometer (BRAN+LUEBBE). Chemoinfometric analysis was performed on the NIR spectral data sets by applying the principal component regression (PCR). [Results] The relation between the actual and predicted polymorphic contents of form g IMC measured using by the X-ray diffraction method shows a good straight linen linear relation., and it has slope of 0.023, an intercept of 0.131 and a correlation coefficient of 0.986. PCR analyses wereis was performed based on normalized NIR spectra sets offer standard samples of known content of IMC g form. IMC. A calibration equation was determined to minimize the root mean square error of the predictionthe prediction. Figure 1 shows a plot of the calibration data obtained by NIR method between the actual and predicted contents of form g IMC. The predicted values were reproducible and had a smaller standard deviation. Figure 2 shows that the plot for the predicted transformation rate (%) of form a IMC to form g as measured by X-ray diffractomeoy against to those as measured by NIR method. The plot has a slope of 1.296, an intercept of 1,109, and a correlation coefficient of 0.992. The line represents a satisfactory correlation between the two predicted values of form g IMC content. Thus NIR spectroscopy is an effective method for the evaluation to the pharmaceutical products of quantitative of polymorph.

게이트 심근 SPECT 분석 소프트웨어의 개발과 좌심실 수축 기능 평가 (Development of Gated Myocardial SPECT Analysis Software and Evaluation of Left Ventricular Contraction Function)

  • 목적: 게이트 심근 SPECT 영상 데이터에서 좌심실을 분할하고 단위영상 각각의 심실부피를 계산하는 소프트웨어를 개발하였다. 개발한 소프트웨어에서 얻은 구혈률을 상용 소프트웨어QGS (Quantitative Gated SPECT)에서 산출한 값과 비교하여 검증하였다. 대상 및 방법: 게이트 심근 SPECT를 시행하여 구혈률 15%-80%, 확장기말 부피는 49 mL-293 mL, 수축기말 부피는 8 mL-250 mL인 40명의 영상데이터를 사용하여 이 연구에서 개발한 CSA (Cardiac SPECT Analyzer)로 구혈률과 부피를 산출하여 QGS로 얻은 결과와 비교하였다. 같은 영상을 CSA로 두 번 분석하여 구혈률과 부피가 같은 값이 나오는지 보고, 26명의 환자에서 같은 자리에서 두 번 이어서 얻은 게이트 SPECT 영상을 CSA로 분석하여 편차를 조사하였다. 결과: CSA측정과 QGS 측정의 상관성은 상관계수가 구혈률, 확장기말 부피, 수축기말 부피 각각 0.97, 0.92, 0.96이었고 Bland Altman 도표에 치우침 없이 2표준편차가 구혈률의 경우 10.1%이었다. 같은 영상에 대한 CSA 2회 측정 결과의 상관은 0.96, 0.99, 0.99 이었고 구혈률의 2표준편차는 3.4%이었다. 두 번 연속 촬영한 영상으로 CSA 분석한 결과 상관계수는 0.89, 0.97, 0.98, 이었고 변이계수는 8.2%, 5.4mL, 8.5mL, Bland Altman 도표 2표준편차는 구혈률의 경우 10.6%이었다. 결론: 게이트 심근 SPECT에서 얻은 영상으로 구혈률을 측정할 수 있는 소프트웨어를 개발하였다. 이 소프트웨어로 얻은 구혈률, 화장기말 부피, 수축기말 부피는 정확하며 정밀하였다. 구혈률의 2표준편차는 10.6%이었다.

Discrimination of Panax ginseng Roots Cultivated in Different Areas in Korea Using HPLC-ELSD and Principal Component Analysis

  • In order to distinguish the cultivation area of Panax ginseng, principal component analysis (PCA) using quantitative and qualitative data acquired from HPLC was carried out. A new HPLC method coupled with evaporative light scattering detection (HPLC-ELSD) was developed for the simultaneous quantification of ten major ginsenosides, namely $Rh_1$, $Rg_2$, $Rg_3$, $Rg_1$, Rf, Re, Rd, $Rb_2$, Rc, and $Rb_1$ in the root of P. ginseng C. A. Meyer. Simultaneous separations of these ten ginsenosides were achieved on a carbohydrate analytical column. The mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-water-isopropanol, and acetonitrile-water-isopropanol using a gradient elution. Distinct differences in qualitative and quantitative characteristics for ginsenosides were found between the ginseng roots produced in two different Korean cultivation areas, Ganghwa and Punggi. The ginsenoside profiles obtained via HPLC analysis were subjected to PCA. PCA score plots using two principal components (PCs) showed good separation for the ginseng roots cultivated in Ganghwa and Punggi. PC1 influenced the separation, capturing 43.6% of the variance, while PC2 affected differentiation, explaining 18.0% of the variance. The highest contribution components were ginsenoside $Rg_3$ for PC1 and ginsenoside Rf for PC2. Particularly, the PCA score plot for the small ginseng roots of six-year old, each of which was light than 147 g fresh weight, showed more distinct discrimination. PC1 influenced the separation between different sample sets, capturing 51.8% of the variance, while PC2 affected differentiation, also explaining 28.0% of the variance. The highest contribution component was ginsenoside Rf for PC1 and ginsenoside $Rg_2$ for PC2. In conclusion, the HPLC-ELSD method using a carbohydrate column allowed for the simultaneous quantification of ten major ginsenosides, and PCA analysis of the ginsenoside peaks shown on the HPLC chromatogram would be a very acceptable strategy for discrimination of the cultivation area of ginseng roots.

  • 임도 옆도랑침식에 영향을 미치는 요인의 평가 및 안정도 판별을 위하여 광릉시험림의 임도를 대상으로 조사를 실시한 결과 침식에 미치는 기여순위는 종단물매, 시설위치, 절토사면경사, 절토사면구성물질, 유하거리, 노면형태, 노면재료, 절토사면피복도, 절토사면길이 순으로 나타났다. 임도 옆도랑침식을 유발하는 요인을 평가하면, 종단물매는 8% 이상, 임도시설위치는 산록(山麓)과 중복(中腹), 절토사면경사는 $50^{\circ}$ 이상, 절토사면토성은 견질토사, 자갈섞인 토사, 호박돌섞인 토사, 유하거리는 80m 이상의 지역에서, 그리고 노면재료는 토사도(土砂道)와 자갈부설도에서, 노면형태의 경우에는 철(凸)형과 직선형, 절토사면 피복도(被覆度)는 피복도가 중(中)이상인 곳에서 임도 옆도랑침식이 발생할 가능성이 높은 것으로 예측(豫測)되었다.

Alteration of Phospholipids during the Mitophagic Process in Lung Cancer CellsS

  • Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI)-time of flight/mass spectrometry (TOF/MS) was applied to investigate alterations in phospholipids in mitophagic cancer cells. Several phospholipids, including phosphatidylcholines (PCs), sphingomyelins (SMs), and phosphatidylinositols (PIs), were successfully analyzed in control and mitophagy-induced H460 cells in the positive and negative ion modes. Principal component analysis was applied to differentiate the two groups. The upregulated and downregulated phospholipid species in the mitophagic cells were also represented in a heatmap. In the volcano plot (fold change > 1.3 and p value < 0.01), individual species of seven PCs, two SMs, and three PIs were selected as differentially regulated phospholipids. In particular, almost all the molecular species of PC, SM, and PI were downregulated in the mitophagic cells. Quantification of these lipids indicated that mitophagy induces altered metabolism of phospholipids. Therefore, phospholipid alterations during the mitophagic process of lung cancer cells were well characterized by MALDI-TOF/MS.

An Efficiency Assessment for Reflectance Normalization of RapidEye Employing BRD Components of Wide-Swath satellite

  • Surface albedo is an important parameter of the surface energy budget, and its accurate quantification is of major interest to the global climate modeling community. Therefore, in this paper, we consider the direct solution of kernel based bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) models for retrieval of normalized reflectance of high resolution satellite. The BRD effects can be seen in satellite data having a wide swath such as SPOT/VGT (VEGETATION) have sufficient angular sampling, but high resolution satellites are impossible to obtain sufficient angular sampling over a pixel during short period because of their narrow swath scanning when applying semi-empirical model. This gives a difficulty to run BRDF model inferring the reflectance normalization of high resolution satellites. The principal purpose of the study is to estimate normalized reflectance of high resolution satellite (RapidEye) through BRDF components from SPOT/VGT. We use semi-empirical BRDF model to estimated BRDF components from SPOT/VGT and reflectance normalization of RapidEye. This study used SPOT/VGT satellite data acquired in the S1 (daily) data, and within this study is the multispectral sensor RapidEye. Isotropic value such as the normalized reflectance was closely related to the BRDF parameters and the kernels. Also, we show scatter plot of the SPOT/VGT and RapidEye isotropic value relationship. The linear relationship between the two linear regression analysis is performed by using the parameters of SPOTNGT like as isotropic value, geometric value and volumetric scattering value, and the kernel values of RapidEye like as geometric and volumetric scattering kernel Because BRDF parameters are difficult to directly calculate from high resolution satellites, we use to BRDF parameter of SPOT/VGT. Also, we make a decision of weighting for geometric value, volumetric scattering value and error through regression models. As a result, the weighting through linear regression analysis produced good agreement. For all sites, the SPOT/VGT isotropic and RapidEye isotropic values had the high correlation (RMSE, bias), and generally are very consistent.

Cations of Soil Minerals and Carbon Stabilization of Three Land Use Types in Gambari Forest Reserve, Nigeria

  • Predicting carbon distribution of soil aggregates is difficult due to complexity in organo-mineral formation. This limits global warming mitigation through soil carbon sequestration. Therefore, knowledge of land use effect on carbon stabilization requires quantification of soil mineral cations. The study was conducted to quantify carbon and base cations on soil mineral fractions in Natural Forest, Plantation Forest and Farm Land. Five 0.09 ha were demarcated alternately along 500 m long transect with an interval of 50 m in Natural Forest (NF), Plantation Forest (PF) and Farm Land (FL). Soil samples were collected with soil cores at 0-15, 15-30 and 30-45 cm depths in each plot. Soil core samples were oven-dried at 105℃ and soil bulk densities were computed. Sample (100 g) of each soil core was separated into >2.0, 2.0-1.0, 1.0-0.5, 0.5-0.05 and <0.05 mm aggregates using dry sieve procedure and proportion determined. Carbon concentration of soil aggregates was determined using Loss-on-ignition method. Mineral fractions of soil depths were obtained using dispersion, sequential extraction and sedimentation methods of composite soil samples and sieved into <0.05 and >0.05 mm fractions. Cation exchange capacity of two mineral fractions was measured using spectrophotometry method. Data collected were analysed using descriptive and ANOVA at α0.05. Silt and sand particle size decreased while clay increased with increase in soil depth in NF and PF. Subsoil depth contained highest carbon stock in the PF. Carbon concentration increased with decrease in aggregate size in soil depths of NF and FL. Micro- (1-0.5, 0.5-0.05 and <0.05 mm) and macro-aggregates (>2.0 and 2-1.0 mm) were saturated with soil carbon in NF and FL, respectively. Cation exchange capacity of <0.05 mm was higher than >0.05 mm in soil depths of PF and FL. Fine silt (<0.05 mm) determine the cation exchange capacity in soil depths. Land use and mineral size influence the carbon and cation exchange capacity of Gambari Forest Reserve.

Feasibility of Free-Breathing, Non-ECG-Gated, Black-Blood Cine Magnetic Resonance Images With Multitasking in Measuring Left Ventricular Function Indices

  • Objective: To clinically validate the feasibility and accuracy of cine images acquired through the multitasking method, with no electrocardiogram gating and free-breathing, in measuring left ventricular (LV) function indices by comparing them with those acquired through the balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP) method, with multiple breath-holds and electrocardiogram gating. Materials and Methods: Forty-three healthy volunteers (female:male, 30:13; mean age, 23.1 ± 2.3 years) and 36 patients requiring an assessment of LV function for various clinical indications (female:male, 22:14; 57.8 ± 11.3 years) were enrolled in this prospective study. Each participant underwent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using the multiple breath-hold bSSFP method and free-breathing multitasking method. LV function parameters were measured for both MRI methods. Image quality was assessed through subjective image quality scores (1 to 5) and calculation of the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) between the myocardium and blood pool. Differences between the two MRI methods were analyzed using the Bland-Altman plot, paired t-test, or Wilcoxon signed-rank test, as appropriate. Results: LV ejection fraction (LVEF) was not significantly different between the two MRI methods (P = 0.222 in healthy volunteers and P = 0.343 in patients). LV end-diastolic mass was slightly overestimated with multitasking in both healthy volunteers (multitasking vs. bSSFP, 60.5 ± 10.7 g vs. 58.0 ± 10.4 g, respectively; P < 0.001) and patients (69.4 ± 18.1 g vs. 66.8 ± 18.0 g, respectively; P = 0.003). Acceptable and comparable image quality was achieved for both MRI methods (multitasking vs. bSSFP, 4.5 ± 0.7 vs. 4.6 ± 0.6, respectively; P = 0.203). The CNR between the myocardium and blood pool showed no significant differences between the two MRI methods (18.89 ± 6.65 vs. 18.19 ± 5.83, respectively; P = 0.480). Conclusion: Multitasking-derived cine images obtained without electrocardiogram gating and breath-holding achieved similar image quality and accurate quantification of LVEF in healthy volunteers and patients.

  • 1. 본(本) 연구(研究)는 우리나라의 삼림토양(森林土壤)의 형태학적(形態学的) 이학적(理学的) 화학적(化学的) 성질(性質)이 임목생장(林木生長)에 미치는 영향(影響)을 조사(調査)하여 수종별(樹種別)로 토양조건(土壤條件)의 요구(要求) 경향(傾向)을 파악(把握)하므로서 적지적수(適地適樹) 및 비배관리(肥培管理)의 기초자료(基礎資料)를 얻고자 10여년간(余年間)에 걸쳐서 자료(資料)를 수집(蒐集)하여 수량화방법(數量化方法)의 이론(理論)을 적용(適用)하여 다변량해석(多變量解析)으로 분석(分析)한 것이다. 2. 공시수종(供試樹種)인 낙엽송(落葉松)과 잣나무는 온대중부(温帶中部)에서 온대북부(温帶北部) 지방(地方)에 이르기까지 조림적지(造林適地)가 광대(廣大)하게 분포(分布)되고 있고 한국(韓國)의 이대(二大) 조림수종(造林樹種)으로 되고 있으나 적지특성(適地特性)이 밝혀지고 있지않아 조림시(造林時)에 적지선정(適地選定)의 혼동(混同)을 초래(招來)하는 경우가 있고 때로는 동일지위급(同一地位級)으로 취급(取扱)되기도 하였다. 낙엽송적지(落葉松適地)에는 잣나무를 조림(造林)하여도 비교적(比較的) 생장(生長)이 양호(良好)하나 반면(反面) 잣나무 적지(適地)에 낙엽송(落葉松)을 조림(造林)할 경우(境遇)는 반드시 좋은 생장(生長)은 기대할 수 없다. 이러한 차이(差異)에 대(對)하여 토양형태학적(土壤形態学的) 인자(因子) 이화학적(理化学的) 인자(因子)가 임목생장(林木生長)에 어떻게 영향(影響)하는 것인가를 Computer를 이용(利用)하여 추적(追跡)하여 보았다. 3. 조사(調査)된 임분(林分)은 인공조림지(人工造林地)의 성림지(成林地)로서 낙엽송(落葉松) 294Plot 잣나무259Plot에서 우세목(優勢木)의 표준목(標準木)을 벌채(伐採)하여 수간석해(樹幹析解)에 의(依)하여 지위지수(地位指數)를 결정(決定)하고 동시에 당해림지(當該林地)에서 토양단면조사(土壤斷面調査)를 실시(實施)하고 층위별(層位別)로 토양시료(土壤試料)를 채취(採取)하여 토양(土壤)의 이화학적(理化学的) 성질(性質)을 분석(分析)하여 수종별(樹種別)로 임지생산력(林地生産力) 구분표(區分表)를 만들어 토양(土壤)의 물리성(物理性) 화학성(化学性) 및 이화학성(理化学性)과 임목생장(林木生長) 관계(關係)를 구명(究明)하였다. 4. 토양(土壤)의 물리적(物理的) 요인(要因)과 임목생장(林木生長) 관계(関係)의 순위(順位)는 낙엽송(落葉松)에서는 퇴적양식(堆積樣式) 토심(土深) 토양수분(土壤水分), 표고(標高), 지형(地形), 토양형(土壤型), A층(層)의 두께, 견밀도(堅密度), 유기물함량(有機物含量), 토성(土性), 기암(基岩), 석력함량(石礫含量), 방위(方位), 경사등(傾斜等)으로 나타나고 잣나무는 토양형(土壤型), 견밀도(堅密度), 기암(基岩), 방위(方位), A층(層)의 두께, 토양수분(土壤水分), 표고지형(標高地形), 퇴적양식(堆積樣式), 토심(土深), 토(土), 석력함량(石礫含量), 경사등(傾斜等)의 순(順)이였다. 5. 토양(土壤)의 화학적(化学的) 요인(要因)과 임목생장관계(林木生長関係)의 순위(順位)는 낙엽송(落葉松)에서는 염기포화도(塩基飽和度), 토양유기물(土壤有機物), 석회(石灰) C/N율(率) 유기인산(有機燐酸), PH 치환성가리(置換性加里), 전질소(全窒素), 고토(苦土), 양(陽)ion 치환능력(置換能力), 염기총량(塩基總量), 나토륨 등(等)으로 나타났고 잣나무는 유효인산(有効燐酸), 염기총량(塩基總量), 전질소(全窒素) 나토륨, C/N율(率), PH석회(石灰), 염기포화도(塩基飽和度), 토양유기물(土壤有機物), 치환성가리(置換性加里), 양(陽)ion, 치환능력(置換能力), 고토(苦土) 등(等)의 순(順)이였다. 6. 토양(土壤)의 이화학성(理化学性)과 임목생장(林木生長) 관계순위(関係順位)는 낙엽송(落葉松)에서는 토심(土深), 퇴적양식(堆積樣式), 토양수분(土壤水分), PH, 지형(地形), 토양형(土壤型), 표고(標高), 전질소(全窒素), 견밀도(堅密度), 유효인산(有効燐酸), 토성(土性)A층(層)의 두께, 염기총량(塩基總量), 치환성가리(置換性加里), 염기포화도(塩基飽和度), 등(等)으로 나타났고 잣나무는 토양형(土壤型), 토양견밀도(土壤堅密度), 방위(方位), 유효인산(有効燐酸), A층(層)의 두께, 치환성가리(置換性加里), 토양수분(土壤水分), 염기총량(塩基總量), 표고(標高), 토심(土深), 염기포화도(塩基飽和度), 지형(地形), 전질소(全窒素), C/N율(率), 퇴적양식(堆積樣式), 등(等)의 순위(順位)였다. 7. 산림토양(山林土壤)의 물리적(物理的) 성질(性質)과의 중상관관계(重相関関係)에서는 낙엽송(落葉松) 0.9272, 잣나무 0.8996이며 토양(土壤)의 화학적(化学的) 성질(性質)은 낙엽송(落葉松) 0.7474, 잣나무 0.7365이였다. 이상(以上)과 같이 토양(土壤)의 물리적(物理的) 성질(性質)과 임목생장관계(林木生長関係)는 토양(土壤)의 화학적(化学的) 성질(性質)보다는 상관성(相関性)이 높은 것으로 나타났으나 토양(土壤)의 화학적(化学的) 제인자(諸因子)에 대(對)한 표시방법(表示方法)이 미흡(未洽)한 것이라고 사료(思料)되며 토양(土壤)의 화학적(化学的) 성질(性質)이 물리적(物理的) 성질(性質) 못지않게 중요(重要)한 것이라는 것을 입증(立証)하기에 이르렀다. 산림토양(山林土壤)의 형태학적(形態学的) 및 물리적(物理的) 중요인자(重要因子)와 토양(土壤) 화학적(化学的) 중요인자(重要因子)를 발췌(拔萃)한 산림토양(山林土壤)의 이화학적(理化学的) 성질(性質)과 임목생장(林木生長)과의 중상관관계(重相関関係)는 낙엽송(落葉松) 0.9434이고 잣나무 0.9103으로서 가장높은 상관성(相関性)을 나타냈다. 8. 편상관계수(偏相関係数)에서 나타난 것과 같이 낙엽송(落葉松)은 잣나무보다 토심(土深)이 깊어야 하며 퇴적양식(堆積樣式)에 있어서도 붕적토(崩積土), 포행토(葡行土)이여야하며 토양건습도(土壤乾湿度)에서도 적윤지(適潤地) 내지(乃至) 습윤지(湿潤地)를 요구(要求)하고 있으며 PH. 5.5~6.1을 요구(要求)하며 전질소(全窒素)(T-N), 토성(土性) 및 토양양료(土壤養料)도 낙엽송(落葉松)이 잣나무보다 훨씬 많은 토양조건(土壤條件)을 요구(要求)하고 있다. 즉(即), 토심(土深) 퇴적양식(堆積樣式), 지형(地形)의 기복(起伏), 토양건습도(土壤乾湿度), PH, N, 표고(標高), 토심등(土深等)이 낙엽송(落葉松)과 잣나무 적지(適地) 구분(区分)의 유효(有効)한 지표(指標)가 되며 토양형(土壤型), 토양견밀도(土壤堅密度)는 식재환경(植栽環境)의 변이폭(變異幅)이 넓으므로 지표성(指標性)은 있으나 낮다고 할 수 있다. 적지판별(適地判別)은 낙엽송(落葉松)은 토심(土深), 퇴적양식(堆積樣式), 지형(地形), 토양수분(土壤水分), PH, 토양형(土壤型), N, 토성등(土性等)이 생장(生長)을 도모(図謀)하는 지표인자(指標因子)인데 반(反)하여 잣나무는 토양형(土壤型) 토양견밀도(土壤堅密度) 유효인산(有効燐酸) 치환성가리(置換性加里) 등(等)이 생장(生長)을 도모(図謀)하는 유효(有効)한 요인(要因)이였다. 토양양료(土壤養料)에 대(對)하여서도 일반적(一般的)으로 잣나무보다 낙엽송(落葉松)이 요구도(要求度)가 크게 나타나고 있으나 $K_2O$에 대(對)하여서만 잣나무가 낙엽송(落葉松) 보다 많이 요구(要求)하고 있다. 9. 지금(只今)까지 임목생장(林木生長)에 크게 영향(影響)을 미치는 것은 산림토양(山林土壤)의 물리적(物理的) 성질(性質)이라는 일반개념(一般槪念)이었으나 본연구결과(本研究結果) 토양(土壤)의 화학적(化学的) 성질(性質)도 매우 중요(重要)한 임목생장요인(林木生長要因)이 된다는 것을 Computer를 이용(利用) 추적(追跡)하여 입증(立証)하였으며 아울러 종래(從來) 낙엽송(落葉松)과 잣나무 적지(適地) 구분(区分)이 불분명(不分明)하던 것을 명료(明瞭)하게 적지(適地) 특성(特性)을 구명(究明)하였다.
