Research on the recent tendency of quality circle papers and improvement plans (최근 분임조 문집의 경향과 이에 따른 문제점 개선방안에 관한 연구 -전국분임조대회 수상기업 중심으로)

  • Purpose: This research is to find the general and somewhat prevailing problems in quality circle papers. Many quality circles try to benchmark awarded papers even though they may have common problems. By pointing out popular problems in papers, many quality circles hopefully could be guided to the right direction in working out improvement actions. Methods: Many papers awarded in national quality circle conferences are deeply analyzed to figure out common problems. 69 recent papers are analyzed step by step and the most important and frequently occurring problems in each step are indicated. Results: Many prevailing problems are found in each step of QC stories. Especially finding themes, Grasping status quo, Cause analysis, Setting targets, Development of and Implementing counter attacks are the most common areas that have problems. Conclusion: Some problems are already too popular to be recognized as problems. In this paper those problems are logically criticized and thereby right directions for future quality circle activities are proposed.

  • Purpose: This paper reviews the papers on quality innovation issues which are published in the Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management (KSQM) since 1965. The literature review is purposed to survey a variety of quality innovation issues Methods: We divide all of quality innovation issues into 2 categories: quality control circle, quality innovation and improvement Results: Dividing all of papers on quality innovation published in KSQM for 50 years into 2 categories, we provide a chronological roadmap for individual categories, and summarize the contents and contributions of surveyed papers Conclusion: The review paper is expected to provide future direction to improve quality innovation theory and practices in manufacturing and service industries

Long Term Outcomes after Pediatric Liver Transplantation

  • Long term outcomes after liver transplantation are major determinants of quality of life and of the value of this heroic treatment. As short term outcomes are excellent, our community is turning to take a harder look at long term outcomes. The purpose of this paper is to review these outcomes, and highlight proposed treatments, as well as pressing topics needing to be studied. A systemic review of the English literature was carried in PubMed, covering all papers addressing long term outcomes in pediatric liver transplant from 2000-2013. Late outcomes after pediatric liver transplant affect the liver graft in the form of chronic liver dysfunction. The causes include rejection particularly humoral rejection, but also de novo autoimmune hepatitis, and recurrent disease. The metabolic syndrome is a major factor in long term cardiovascular complication risk. Secondary infections, kidney dysfunction and malignancy remain a reality of those patients. There is growing evidence of late cognitive and executive function delays affecting daily life productivity as well as likely adherence. Finally, despite a good health status, quality of life measures are comparable to those of children with chronic diseases. Long term outcomes are the new frontier in pediatric liver transplantation. Much is needed to improve graft survival, but also to avoid systemic morbidities from long term immunosuppression. Quality of life is a new inclusive measure that will require interventions and innovative approaches respectful not only on the patients but also of their social circle.

The Investigation about using Mind Mapping in the Elementary Science Education Lessons (초등과학수업에서 마인드 맵 활용에 대한 탐색)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the mind maps which were drawn with pencil or color pens by elementary students. For this study, 31 students of the 6th grade were selected and trained mind mapping. After training, the subjects had drawn mind maps with color pens about the ROCK for 15minutes and drew mind maps with pencil after 2days of mind mapping using color pens. In addition to activities of mind mapping, the students handed in their papers which were written one's impression of drawing two kinds of mind mapping. The results were follows: First, in central circle which was linked words connected firstly with ROCK as key word, the difference of 2kinds mind maps were little showed in the quantity and quality of the words, branches and their adequacy. Second, the mind maps using pencils had more words, branches and images than mind maps of using color pens in the whole assessment. Third, the most students suggested that the mind mapping using pencil were advantage to economy of time, retouching words and branches, also the mind mapping using pencil made the students relax the strain for drawing it because of retouching possibility. Consequently, the results of this study suggest the mind mapping using pencil has advantage effect on the purpose of gaining students' thinking abundantly and economy of time in elementary science classes.
