Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to analyze the trade structure and competitiveness of China's information technology (IT) industry in comparison to that of Korea and the United States, particularly in terms of quality. Design/methodology/approach - Indices such as trade specialization index (TSI), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and Market Comparative Advantage (MCA) are used. Further, an Intra-industry Trade (IIT) index is used to analyze qualitative changes in horizontal intra-industry trade and intra-industry trade of high- and low-quality goods. Findings - China's IT industry has a comparative competitive advantage over that of Korea and the United States, and mainly exports goods of inferior quality and imports goods of superior quality. Further, China's horizontal intra-industry trade has been decreasing, while its vertical intra-industry trade has been increasing and vertical trade of inferior quality goods outweighs that of superior quality goods. This shows that China is rapidly catching up with Korea and the United States, even though its qualitative competitiveness has not significantly improved. Research limitations/implication - This study has academic and political implications, as it analyzes changes in China's IT trade competitiveness. However, it is somewhat limited as factors determining qualitative aspects has not been considered. Originality/value - Most studies aggregate analyses of export competitiveness using methodologies such as TSI, RCA, and market share. However, the focus of these methods is price competitiveness. Hence, an examination of the objective and qualitative trade competitiveness of China's IT industry is necessary. this study the trade structure and quantitative competitiveness of the industry by analyzing intra-industry trade focusing on the quality of competitiveness. Therefore, the changes in China's IT industry in the USA and Korea and in foreign trade competitiveness and quality competitiveness are clarified. The results show that the academic and policy implications of these changes in the IT industry will be a useful resource. This is the first study in Korea to attempt such an analysis. This is the first study in Korea to attempt such an analysis.
The objective of public works planning is being converted from economic growth to sustainable development. So, the demand for considering social & ecological influences as well as economic components had been increased in evaluation of public works planning. In evaluation of public works, its components related with benefit and cost in feasibility analysis can be classified to qualitative and qualitative elements. Qualitative elements are evaluated by qualitative methods which can manage various items, be commonly applied nationwide, and consider elements that can be calculated numerically such as environments, willingness, etc. In this study, using the concept of 'Information measure', a method to design planning of rural works is proposed. 'Information benefit model' for rural works can evaluate present plan in the side of provider's and demander's 'benefit'. And, optimizing method of rural works by 'Information benefit' can simulate present state and optimize the site and route of rural works.

Empowerment factors consist of initiative, encourage creativity, and problem solving. Education and training factors consist of the degree of education and training opportunities, the value of education and training, and the scope of education and training. Rewards factors consist of diversity of rewards, fairness of rewards, and source of rewards. Internal communication factors consist of communication flexibility, diversity of communication and receptivity of communication. Management support factors consist of headquarters support and department store support.
Purpose: Despite the health impacts of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) beginning in the early stages of life, there is little research on the perception of EDCs among Korean mothers, who are primarily responsible for protecting children. This study aimed to explore how mothers with young children perceived EDCs for their concerns, the issues they faced, and the way they dealt with them. Methods: An exploratory qualitative design was utilized. Twelve mothers who were recruited from snowball sampling participated in voluntary interviews. Individual in-depth interviews lasting approximately 47 to 60 minutes were recorded and transcribed verbatim. The data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis as suggested by Graneheim and Lundman. Results: Four categories, 10 subcategories, and 25 condensed meaning units were identified by interpreting mothers' underlying meanings. The four categories were 'Knowledgeable yet contrasting ideas regarding EDCs,' 'Negative health impact, but more so for children,' 'Inaction or trying to minimize exposure,' and 'Need for early, reliable resources and social change.' Mothers were knowledgeable about EDCs and actively needed further education and support. While they tended to focus more on the health impact of EDCs on their children and were optimistic about their health risks, paying less attention to their preventive behaviors. Conclusion: Healthcare professionals must consider mothers' perceptions of EDCs in future education and interventions regarding EDCs impact on women's life stages such as puberty, pregnancy, and childrearing. Also preventive strategies that can be applied to their daily lives are needed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare similarities and differences in research trends for community health nursing between Korea and Japan. Methods: Comparison was made in terms of research design, data collection and sampling method, and key concepts from community health nursing research by literature review. We analyzed original articles from representative Journals covering community health nursing research from 2004 to 2008. Results: We found that research design was quite different between the two countries. Quantitative research design was dominant in Korea, while qualitative and qualitative research designs were used equally in Japan. In particular, outcome research was found only in Korean papers. Conclusion: Based on the comparison, the following recommendations are suggested related to the strengths and weaknesses of research concepts and methods observed in each country. It is suggested that future collaboration should be undertaken especially to improve the diversity of research design and method. More diverse research designs should be used in both countries. Particularly in today‘s aged society, evidence-based research and outcome research are needed for community health nursing in both countries.
A disassembility assessment has mostly depend on the subjective decision making from the qualitative element. The work of disassembly is already classified with given disassemble points from the symbolic chart method. It is not useful in the practical assessment because it is not specified. The new method of design for disassembility assessment(DFDA) is practical to introduce the fuzzy number as the conversion of quantitative element from qualitative. It is appled to air-cleaner of passenger-vehicle for the usefulness.
Various organizational factors effect successful implementation of IT enabled business transformation. Among them, the most critical success factor is deemed to overcoming change management problem. Lots of studies have been made on Implementation methodologies and business process formalizations to encourage organizational members to accept new business process changes. However, the logic or process redesign still depends on qualitative problem solving techniques mostly depending on basically human intuition such as brainstorming. cause-and-effect analysis. and so on. In this paper, we focused on developing analytic framework to design to-be business process structure. which can complement qualitative problem solving procedures. With effective use of IT as an enabler, we provide algorithmic framework applicable to designing various business process changes such as process automation, business process resequencing, and more radical process integration. The framework follows dynamic programming approach in the literature, which is based on the decision making paradigm of organizations to abstract business processes as quantitative decision models. As such, our research ran fill the gap of limited development of theory based analytic methodologies for business process design, by providing objective rationale to reach the consensus among the organizational members including senior management.
Grinding operation has difficulty in satisfying the qualitative knowledge based on the skilful expert as well as the quantitative data for all user. Design of grinding database based on the frame-based model is more effective method for utilizing the empirical and qualitative knowledge. In this paper. basic strategy to develop the grinding database by taking frame-based model, which is strongly dependent upon experience and intuition, is described. Grinding database based on the frame based model for designing the interaction and inference among the slots is accomplised by the object-oriented paradigm system.
