In this paper, we propose a non-fragile guaranteed cost controller design method for uncertain linear systems with constant delyas in state. The norm bounded and time-varying uncertainties are subjected to system and controller design matrices. A quadratic cost function is considered as the performance measure for the system. Based on the Lyapunov method, an LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) optimization problem is established to design the controller which uses information of delayed state and minimizes the upper bound of the quadratic cost function for all admissible system uncertainties and controller gain variations. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Building components have been deteriorated by various factors such as location, a building type, a surrounding environment and so on. In addition, each component has a peculiar characteristics, compared with other components in properties of matter an used part. Building components would be required to maintain its function and performance to provide the resident with a decent living condition. It is important to decide the repair time, scope and a required cost in repair plan, considering the each component's characteristics. In this parer, it aimed at providing the economic repair pattern to analyze the relation of the time-elapse and the cumulative repair cost in the apartment housing using 3rd quadratic function. Results of the study are as follows: First, the shape of the function for the economic repair is classified into two type. One is the continuous increase type of the cumulative cost which properly means the iterative repair type after built. The other is that the function has the maximum state at a point which means one-repair after its repair would be delayed to a scheduled time. Second, the iterative repair pattern would include window, roof proof, lighting and water supply pipe. The other repair pattern would include the paintings, heating pipe and sign board.
This paper is concerned with an economic selection of both the process mean and the lower limit for a continuous production process with the quadratic loss function. It is assumed that the quality characteristic is normally distributed with a known variability. A profit model is developed which involves selling price, production cost, reprocessing cost and the cost which is incurred by imperfect quality. Methods of finding optimum values of the process mean and the lower limit are presented, and a numerical example is given.
In recent years there has been increasing interest in the issue of process centering in manufacturing process, The traditional process capability indices Cp, Cpk and Cpu are used to provide measure of process performance, but these indices do not represent the issue of process centering. A new measure of the process capability index Cpm is proposed that takes into account the proximity to the target value as well as the process variation when assessing process performance. However, Cpm only considers acceptance cost for deviation from target value within specification limits, do not includes economic consideration for rejected items. This paper proposes flexible process performance measures that considered quadratic loss function caused by quality deviation within specification limits, rejection cost associated with the disposition of rejected items, and inspection cost. In this model disposition of rejected items are considered under perfect corrective procedures and the absence of perfect corrective procedures.
Generally, average invest cost is widely used for expansion planning of generation in power system. But, other cost which is followed by adding generating capacity in electric system is increased in accordance with increasing plant reasons. In this study, we represent the invest cost with quadratic function and analyze its effect on the expansion planning. It is hoped that this method is used in expansion planning of generating system.
Since the forming process involves the strain rate effect, a yield function considering the strain rate is indispensible to predict the accurate final blank shape in the forming simulation. One of the most widely used in the forming analysis is the Hill48 quadratic yield function due to its simplicity and low computing cost. In this paper, static and dynamic uni-axial tensile tests according to the loading direction have been carried out in order to measure the yield stress and the r-value. Based on the measured results, the Hill48 yield loci have been constructed, and their performance to describe the plastic anisotropy has been quantitatively evaluated. The Hill48 quadratic yield function has been modified using convex combination in order to achieve accurate approximation of anisotropy at the rolling and transverse direction.
This paper proposes a new measure of cost function ruggedness in local optimization with DEAS. DEAS is a computational optimization method developed since 2002 and has been applied to various engineering fields with success. Since DEAS is a recent optimization method which is rarely introduced in Korean, this paper first provides a brief overview and description of DEAS. In minimizing cost function with this non-gradient method, information on function shape measured automatically will enhance search capability. Considering the search strategies of DEAS are well designed with binary matrix structures, analysis of search behaviors will produce beneficial shape information. This paper deals with a simple quadratic function contained with various magnitudes of noise, and DEAS finds local minimum yielding ruggedness measure of given cost function. The proposed shape information will be directly used in improving DEAS performance in future work.
It is shown that the problem of minimizing (maximizing) a quadratic cost functional (quadratic gain functional) given the dynamics dx = (fx + gu)dt + hdb(t, a) where b(t, a) is a fractional Brownian motion of order a, 0 < 2a < 1, can be solved completely (and meaningfully!) by using the dynamical equations of the moments of x(t). The key is to use fractional Taylor's series to obtain a relation between differential and differential of fractional order.
A novel formulation aiming to achieve optimal design of reinforced concrete (RC) structures is presented here. Optimal sizing and reinforcing for beam and column members in multi-bay and multistory RC structures incorporates optimal stiffness correlation among all structural members and results in cost savings over typical-practice design solutions. A Nonlinear Programming algorithm searches for a minimum cost solution that satisfies ACI 2005 code requirements for axial and flexural loads. Material and labor costs for forming and placing concrete and steel are incorporated as a function of member size using RS Means 2005 cost data. Successful implementation demonstrates the abilities and performance of MATLAB's (The Mathworks, Inc.) Sequential Quadratic Programming algorithm for the design optimization of RC structures. A number of examples are presented that demonstrate the ability of this formulation to achieve optimal designs.
As the competitive market system has been introduced to the electrical power trade, the priority concern would be that the price of electrical power should be reasonable. It is because, when this rule is solid, we can avoid the distortion of competition and assure the greater efficiency in management. LMP(Locational Marginal Price) means marginal price at each bus. This components consist of energy, loss and congestion cost. At this point, the LMP result that is calculated by traditional model is changeable by the location of the slack and can not be used in bilateral Transaction. This paper proposed algorithm is proved its rationality and credibility by comparing the result of the simulation of virtual 6_bus system that is calculated by traditional method, and showed that the LMP components are changed according to the Transaction Strategy. Furthermore, It shows the effect of additional congestion cost on the transmission line that has bottle neck frequently by simulation.
