A Resource Reservation Protocol for Mobile Hosts in Wireless Mobile Networks (무선 이동망에서의 이동 호스트를 지원하기 위한 자원 예약 프로토콜)

  • Providing a mobile host with its required QoS is highly influenced by its mobility. The resource ReSerVation Protocol(RSVP) establishes and maintains a reservation state to ensure a given QoS level along the path from the sender to the receiver. However, RSVP is designed for use in fixed networks and thus it is inadequate in the mobile networking environment where a host changes its point of attachment. In this paper, we propose a new resource reservation protocol, RSVP-RA(RSVP by RSVP Agent) for mobile hosts. Our protocol assumes IETF Mobile IP as a mobility support mechanism. The proposed protocol introduce a new protocol entity - RSVP agent - to manage reservations in a mobile host's current visiting network. RSVP Agent is located in a local network and makes resource reservations in neighboring cells that the mobile host is expected to visit in the future. Thus, the proposed Protocol can provide a seamless QoS to the mobile host and significantly improve the scalability problem of RSVP by reducing the end-to-end signalling messages acrossing the backbone networks. The proposed protocols reduce packet delay, bandwidth overhead and the number of RSVP messages to maintain reservation states. We compared the performance of our proposed protocol with other proposed protocols in terms of signalling overhead, packet delay by simulation.

  • This paper specifies the interface and procedures of AINI signalling protocol, which is defined for supporting interworking between ATM public network based BISUP and ATM private network based P-NNI. Also it is discussed in this paper that the required considerations such as message, information element and QoS to design AINI interworking scenario, and evolution direction.

  • In this paper, DSPA(Dynamic Signalling Period Allocation) algorithm that has been proposed by the authors for MAC(Medium Access Control) protocols in W-ATM(Wireless Asynchronous Transfer Mode) is applied to mixed traffic conditions composed of various service classes. We investigate the bandwidth utilization efficiency and quality of service(QoS) fulfillment by the DSPA algorithm used in W-ATM MAC protocols. Simulation results indicate that the DSPA algorithm significantly increases the throughput of the system with the minimum control overhead. Moreover, QoS of each service class is well satisfied by proper and fair channel allocation to different service classes according to their requirements.

  • 본 논문에서는 IP/MPLS 망에서 QoS 보장형 차별화 서비스 제공을 위한 Virtual Networking 구조를 제안한다. 제안한 구조에서는 멀티미디어 단말장치와 PE(Provider Edge) 사이에서 RSVP-TE를 이용한 signalling을 통해 연결설정을 요청하고 PE에서 CAC(Call Admission Control)가 이루어질 수 있도록 한다. 또한 provider network에서 일반 가입자에게 QoS 보장형 차별화 서비스를 제공해줄 수 있도록 Multiple Virtual Network을 구성하며, class-type별로 차별화된 virtual network을 구성하기 위해서 L-LSP를 PE간에 full-mesh 형태로 설정한다 본 논문에서 제안한 Virtual Networking을 통하며 망 사업자는 보다 효율적으로 망을 관리하며, 통신망 자원의 이용율을 극대화시키고 사용자들에게 QoS 보장형 차별화 서비스를 제공해주는 것이 가능하다.

  • This study is concerned with the quantitative Quality of Service(QoS) of the Light Railway Transit(LRT) System. Generally, the QoS offered to passengers by the Operator of LRT system can be quantified in various ways. In this paper, we assumed that the QoS is a combination of both Train Delivery and Train Punctuality under considering LRT characteristics including core sub-systems such as, rolling stock, signalling, power-supply and PSD(platform screen door), etc. We also, provide a quantitative analysis method to evaluate the QoS related the reliability of LRT system.

  • Best effort 서비스 품질만 지원하는 현재의 인터넷에 음성, 오디오 그리고 영상 통신 응용 서비스와 같은 새로운 멀티미디어 응용 서비스를 사용하려는 요구가 확대됨에 따라서 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 인터넷의 필요성이 증대하고 있다. 또한 이러한 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 서비스 품질(QoS)을 보장할 수 있는 통신 방식과 대량의 트래픽을 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 메커니즘이 필요하게 되었다. 비동기 전송방식(ATM)은 이러한 멀티미디어 서비스를 인터넷에서 제공할 수 있는 최적의 통신 방식으로 고려되고 있는데, 이것은 ATM의 장점인 고속의 스위칭 기술과 논리적으로 VPI/VCI를 다중화 하는 기법, 그리고 유연한 서비스 품질 관리가 가능하기 때문이다. 본 고에서는 ATM 망에서 인터넷 서비스를 지원하기 위하여 결성된 ITU-T SG11의 Coordination 그룹인 Signalling Support of Internet-Based Applications(SoI) 회의 결과를 중심으로 하며 SoI의 표준화 연구 목표, B-ISDN 신호 프로토콜을 이용한 Long-lived 세션과 QoS에 민감한 세션의 인터넷 트래픽에 대한 ATM 연결 설정 절차 및 인터넷 세션 정보의 전달 방법 그리고 인터넷 서비스를 위한 멀티캐스팅 방법에 대하여 기술한다. 본 고의 목적은 인터넷 서비스 및 프로토콜을 지원하기 위하여 확장이 필요한 B-ISDN 신호 프로토콜의 기능을 명확히 기술하기 위한 것이다.

Optimization for Relay-Assisted Broadband Power Line Communication Systems with QoS Requirements Under Time-varying Channel Conditions

  • The user experience of practical indoor power line communication (PLC) applications is greatly affected by the system quality-of-service (QoS) criteria. With a general broadcast-and-multi-access (BMA) relay scheme, in this work we investigate the joint source and relay power optimization of the amplify-and-forward (AF) relay systems used under indoor broad-band PLC environments. To achieve both time diversity and spatial diversity from the relay-involved PLC channel, which is time-varying in nature, the source node has been configured to transmit an identical message twice in the first and second signalling phase, respectively. The QoS constrained power allocation problem is not convex, which makes the global optimal solution is computationally intractable. To solve this problem, an alternating optimization (AO) method has been adopted and decomposes this problem into three convex/quasi-convex sub-problems. Simulation results show the fast convergence and short delay of the proposed algorithm under realistic relay-involved PLC channels. Compared with the two-hop and broadcast-and-forward (BF) relay systems, the proposed general relay system meets the same QoS requirement with less network power assumption.

  • Wireless LAN technology is complementary to 3G systems and could be used to provide high bandwidth hotspot coverage, for example in railway stations and offices, in order to provide the high bandwidth video and broadband services such as those emerging on DSL fixed access. The IST Projects BRAIN and MIND have investigated a number of key technical enablers for such a system beyond 3G. These include scenarios and business models, design of an all-IP access network, consideration of ad hoc network extensions, enhancing Wireless LAN efficiency and compatibility with IP and, finally, terminal middleware and signalling for rapid adaptations to network QoS changes.

  • In this paper, we propose a new moving mobile base station (MMBS) scheme for very low power and micro-size RMIMS (radio-interfaced micro information monitoring system) terminals. RMIMS terminals can be used in various application service areas such as pollution monitoring, environment surveillance, traffic monitoring, emergency monitoring (e.g., building, bridge, railroad breakdown), security monitoring (e.g., theft, alarm) and military application. For these applications based on wireless transmission technologies, sensor type RMIMS terminals must satisfy low cost and low power design (e.g., solar power, life limited battery) requirement. In RMIMS terminal design, this low power requirement limits transmission range of uplink or reverse link and means small cell size. Also these applications using RMIMS terminals may have a little bit non real-time traffic characteristic and low scattering density in service area.

  • Mobile IP (MIP) and SIP are considered as important technologies to provide the macro mobility in the next generation mobile convergence networks which have heterogeneous access networks. Typically, MIP and SIP are more suitable for the non-real-time TCP connections and the real-time RTP/UDP sessions respectively, hence a handset which uses both of these sessions should simultaneously apply MIP and SIP to perform the efficient mobility management. Existing multi-layered mobility management schemes focus on the signalling order of each protocol. However, simple combining of two protocols cannot provide the performance enhancement of the mobility management. In this paper, a novel multi-layered mobility management algorithm using the combination of SIP and fast MIPv6 (FMIPv6) is proposed. FMIPv6 and SIP mobility is simultaneously performed to reduce the service interrupt time and to guarantee QoS requirement. The delay model is defined to analysis the performance of the algorithm and the simulation results show the performance of the proposed algorithm.
