VoIP Planning and Evaluation through the Analysis of Speech Transmission Quality Based on the E-Model (E-모델 기반 통화 품질 분석을 통한 VoIP Planning 및 평가)

  • Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is currently a popular research topic as a real time voice packet transmission method. But current Internet environment do not guarantee the quality of voice when we take a side view of delay, jitter and loss. Up to now, many voice based evaluation algorithms have been used to measure speech quality of VoIP systems. However, these algorithms have the defects that their results are different according to voice samples and some algorithms can not take network environment for speech transmission path. The E-model can be used to solve the problems of these algorithms. In this paper. we introduce VoIP planning guidelines through the various analysis of E-model which can model impairments of network quality as well as VoIP equipment quality systematically, We, also, show the evaluation method and results of speech transmission quality.

  • The multimedia ad hoc wireless network is quite an attractive issue since it offers a flexible solution to enable delivery of multimedia services to mobile end users without fixed backbone networks. However, with the unique design challenges of ad hoc wireless networks, it is a non-trivial issue to provide bounded delay guarantee, with fair share of resources. In this paper, we proposed distributed implementation of the delay guaranteed fair queueing (DGFQ) scheme in multimedia ad hoc wireless networks. Through the the results of performance evaluation, we can conclude that DGFQ also performs well to control bounded delay in multimedia ad hoc wireless networks.

  • In this paper, it is proposed a bandwidth allocation Scheme based on Bankruptcy theory in Distributed Mobile Multimedia Network. The proposed scheme is guaranteed a minimum allocation. So, the minimum quality of each service are guaranteed. Therefore efficient and fairness network can be configured. The performance evaluation results indicate that the proposed scheme has good performance than other existing schemes by the fairness index and the Erlang blocking formular calculation. The minimum bandwidth of the proposed scheme can be applied to other techniques of a priority based bandwidth allocation scheme and dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme.

  • As the number of services available on the Web increases, it is vital to be able to identify which services can be trusted. Since there can be an extremely large number of potential services that offer similar functionality, it is challenging to select the right ones. Service requestors have to decide which services closelysatisfy their needs, and theymust worry about the reliability of the service provider. Although an individual service can be trusted, a composed service is not guaranteed to be trustworthy. In this paper, we present a trust model that supports service discovery and composition based on trustworthiness. We define a method to evaluate trust in order to discover trustworthy services. We also provide a method to perform trust estimation for dynamic service composition, and we present results of two experiments. The proposed model allows for service requestors to obtain the most trustworthy services possible. Our mechanism uses direct and indirect user experience to discover the trustworthiness of the services and service providers. Moreover, composing services based on quantitative trust measurements will allow for consumers to acquire a highly reliable service that meet their quality and functional requirements.

  • Networks of Workstations(NOWs), that has features of flexibility and scalability, recently has emerged as an inexpensive alternative to massively parallel multicomputers. However it is not easier to perform deadlock-free multicast than regular topologies like mash or hypercube. Single phase differential multicast(SPDM) is a modified multicast algorithm with less burden of the root node. By applying quality of serviece(QoS), a specific node can have differentiated service and artificial change of message flow pattern is also available. As the results of performance evaluation experiments, SPDM has lower latency and lower packet concentration rate of the root node than the case of SPAM, and has ability to control network load distribution among switch nodes by controlling the assignment rate among nodes.

  • The NGN(Next-Generation Network) structure has been considered from various points of view as all If wireless-wired integration network and its performance is one of the main issue in these days. In this paper, various wired and wireless integrated networks with voice service are designed and simulated to obtain problems and factors affects the network performance using OPnet simulator. The characteristics only showed in the wired and wireless integrated networks are measured and analyzed compared with the single networks such as a wired or wireless networks. Especially, in the wired and wireless integrated networks showed degrading performance even if there are few transmissions in the network and furthermore, the various networks of increasing numbers of the nodes and transmission are simulated and evaluated.

  • We propose the improved channel assignment and management methods for an efficient use of traffic channel resource for supporting 12.2 Kbps, 64 Kbps, and 384 Kbps traffic with the different quality of service(QoS) in the radio network controller(RNC) in asynchronous IMT-2000 system. We consider two types of traffic channel block assignments for utilizing the traffic channel efficiently; the Completely Shared(CS) channel assignment and the Partially Dedicated and Partially Shared(PDPS) channel assignment. The former is that all traffic channel blocks are completely shared with all traffic types. The latter is that some traffic channel block is independently assigned to each traffic type and the other blocks are completely shared with some traffic type. We also propose the traffic channel management method which consists of the block and task management step, for efficiently assigning, releasing, and managing the channel resource. Finally, we evaluate the performance through various numerical examples when applying our proposed channel block assignment and resource management methods.

Providing Guaranteed Delay in Multimedia Ad Hoc Wireless Networks (멀티미디어 Ad Hoc 무선망에서의 지연시간 보장방안)

  • The Guaranteed Bandwidth Rate scheme has been designed to accomodate non-real-time applications, such as Internet based traffic in Pm networks. The Guaranteed Bandwidth Rate scheme not only guarantees a minimum throughput at the frame level, but also supports a fair share of available resources. In this paper, we propose a cell control algorithm which can improve the fairness and the throughput through the traffic control in PM networks. For the evaluation of the proposed scheme, we compare proposed scheme with the existing scheme in the fairness and the throughput. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve the fairness and throughput than the existing scheme.

  • The Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) service has been designed to accomodate non-real-time applications, such as TCP/IP based traffic in ATM networks. One of the important factors is buffer management for guaranteeing QoS in GFR service. In this paper, we propose a buffer management scheme which can improve the fairness and the throughput through the traffic control in GFR service. For the evaluation of the proposed scheme, we compare proposed scheme with the existing scheme in the fairness and the throughput. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve the fairness and throughput than the existing scheme.
