A Q-deck composed of 48 cards, derived in part from a review of related literature and was developed by the researchers and sorted by the subjects. The obtained Q-sort scores were analyzed by factor analysis. The findings revealed that the subjects were divided into 3 belief types : "life-experienced", "developmental-disciplinary", "cultural-environmental". Likely explanations for these results are considered, and implications are discussed.

  • The goal of this research is to discover various cognitive types on social work practice by using Q methodology which explores subjectivities of human beings. The researchers selected 40 Q items among 293 Q populations from data through in-depth interviews of eight social workers and literature reviews, and the reliability was r=.816. Twenty-nine social workers sorted Q items and the obtained data was analysed by the QUANL program. The perception types were divided into three patterns and the eigen value was .5849. Three perception types on social workers' practices were 'relationship-centered(type 1)', 'change-centered(type 2)' and 'resource-centered(type 3)' practices. These types were different in perceptions on identification of relationship with clients, key characteristics, skills and strengths as a social worker. According to these results, the researchers offered some significant implications and suggested several following studies.

Although many researchers had stressed economic and socio-cultural impacts of ethnic tourism on ethnic minority people, little was done to identify their subjectivities. This research revealed the social and economic benefits from ethnic tourism, representing the identity of ethnic minority people. This research investigated the ethnic groups' subjectivities toward ethnic tourism and identity in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China, using the Q-methodology. It was found that the community residents did not get much benefits regardless of the social welfare that ethnic tourism had brought about. OCB is a employee behavior that goes above and beyond the call of duty, that is discretionary and not explicitly recognized by the employing organization's formal reward system, and that contributes to organizational effectiveness. But, as is generally known, OCB is such a fuzzy concept that many researchers have been questioning the exact conceptual domain of OCB. In this context, we try to applicate Q-methodology to find more effective way of explaining the conceptual domain of OCB. Q-sample was constructed by a thorough review on the relevant literature, and P-sample is 14 employees of an manufacturing company. In conclusion, we find three types of the conceptual domain of OCB, that is coworker-oriented, organization-orienteded, and work-orienteed type. The paper ends with suggestions for future research directions.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify children's different styles of anger-expression and the characteristics of each anger-expression style. The Q-methodology with a 32 Q-sample was used to investigate and analyze the subjective expression of childrens's anger experiences. The subjects were 22 children living in D city, and the data were collected by means of interviews. The analysis revealed six styles of anger-expression, a solution which accounted for 65.13% of the total variance. The six styles were labeled "Patience type", "Avoidance-conversion type", "Reaction-seek type", "Control type", "Repression type", and "Conversion-consideration type". It was recommended that intervention strategies for children's appropriate anger-expression mode should be based on these six anger-expression styles.
