An analysis of Learning Attitude among the Chinese Students in Korea - focused on the Q Methodology - (한국 내 중국 유학생의 학습태도 유형 분석 - Q방법론적 접근 -)

  • The purpose of this research provides analyzes the learning attitude types by Chinese students in Korea. For this purpose, we have adopted of the practical research methodology and quantitative research methodology, which can objectively determine the individual's ideas and behavior of the "Q methodology". To this end, This research is targeted at Chinese students in the students' learning attitude implemented by 4 types and analyzes questionnaires of each type. The analysis results are categorized as the type of learning environment is not satisfied; positively cooperate with the learning process and the environment; the lack of learning motivation; and paradoxical learning state. As a result of this discussion, Chinese students should have clear motivation to learn new things; improve their korean language ability; and need to know their clear learning methods. Nowadays, more and more Chinese students are choosing study abroad. Therefore, the learning attitudes and learning abilities as two of the most important of focus from society.

An Exploratory Study on Types of the Social Work Practice of Social Workers by applying Q Methodology (Q 방법론을 활용한 사회복지사의 실천유형에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • The goal of this research is to discover various cognitive types on social work practice by using Q methodology which explores subjectivities of human beings. The researchers selected 40 Q items among 293 Q populations from data through in-depth interviews of eight social workers and literature reviews, and the reliability was r=.816. Twenty-nine social workers sorted Q items and the obtained data was analysed by the QUANL program. The perception types were divided into three patterns and the eigen value was .5849. Three perception types on social workers' practices were 'relationship-centered(type 1)', 'change-centered(type 2)' and 'resource-centered(type 3)' practices. These types were different in perceptions on identification of relationship with clients, key characteristics, skills and strengths as a social worker. According to these results, the researchers offered some significant implications and suggested several following studies.

Subjectivity on Stressful Life Events of Middle-aged Women - A Q Methodology Approach - (중년여성의 스트레스 생활사건에 관한 주관성 연구)

  • This study measures the subjectivity on stressful life events of middle- aged women. Method: Q-Methodological method was used for that purpose. As for the research method, Q-statements were collected preliminary to the study of through in-depth interviews and a literature review. For the study 38 Q-statements were selected. There were 28 middle aged women as subjects for the research. Q-Factor Analysis by using PC Quanl Program to supply the material. Result: Through the result of this study, the stressful life events of middle-aged women could be identified by 4 types. The type I is called the conflict in relationship with husband's family members. The type II is called lack of marital intimacy. The type III is called low self-esteem. The type IV is called changing life cycle itself. Conclusion: Therefore, identifing the subjectivity on the stressful life events of middle-aged women would be a basic step for the understanding of middle aged women.

Teacher's Belief in Young Children's Play : A Q-approach (유아 놀이에 대한 교사의 신념 분석 : Q-방법론적 접근)

  • This study identified and explained the prototypes of teacher's belief about children's play with the use of Stephenson's Q-methodology. The sample consisted of 35 kindergarten teachers. A Q-deck composed of 48 cards, derived in part from a review of related literature and was developed by the researchers and sorted by the subjects. The obtained Q-sort scores were analyzed by factor analysis. The findings revealed that the subjects were divided into 3 belief types : "life-experienced", "developmental-disciplinary", "cultural-environmental". Likely explanations for these results are considered, and implications are discussed.

  • The financial MyData service has implemented in January 2022 and launched 45 services by banks, securities, credit cards and fintech companies. This study applied the Q methodology, to identify the user types of MyData services and compared the perceptions of employees of financial institutions who plan and develop the MyData services. There are three types of MyData service users: active users, limited users who focus on consumption and asset status inquiry, and sensitive users for personal information. There were two types of recognition of financial company employees. One is the active user support other is the sensitive user for personal information support. The analysis of subjective perceptions can be used as a reference for establishing a company's MyData service marketing strategy and establishing related policies to improve the MyData ecosystem.

  • Ethnic tourism is utilized by many countries to improve the economic status. Ethnic tourism in Xishuangbanna started from the 1980s and grew rapidly during the past 2 decades. Although many researchers had stressed economic and socio-cultural impacts of ethnic tourism on ethnic minority people, little was done to identify their subjectivities. This research revealed the social and economic benefits from ethnic tourism, representing the identity of ethnic minority people. This research investigated the ethnic groups' subjectivities toward ethnic tourism and identity in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China, using the Q-methodology. It was found that the community residents did not get much benefits regardless of the social welfare that ethnic tourism had brought about. Finally, this research also made several implications with regard to tourism management.

  • In the health care setting which social work services are provided by interdisciplinary team approach, understanding the perception and expectation on the role of social workers worked with medical team is important for social workers to play their role effectively. This study is focused on the medical team members such as doctors, nurses, nutritionists and administrative staffs by researching the type of perception and each characteristics through using the Q methodology. It is concluded that perception on medical social workers is categorized into three types : psycho-social counselor, coordinator/developer of resources, multiple function player. Finding for this study suggest that the implications on social work practice in health care setting.

  • Purpose: This study has investigated experience of middle aged women who attended a self help group to overcome midlife crisis. Methods: To analyze types of experience that middle aged women attending the self help group went through to overcome midlife crisis, Q-methodology has been used. The 32 selected Q-samples from each of 27 subjects were classified into a shape of normal distribution using a 9-point scale. The collected data were analyzed using a QUANL PC program. The 38 selected Q-samples from each of 27 subjects were classified into a shape of normal distribution using a 9-point scale. The collected data were analyzed using a QUANL PC program. Results: The types of experience were classified into four categories; Type I (attempt to change), Type II (devoted to my role), Type III (tolerance and acceptance) and Type IV (role as a senior citizen). Conclusion: This study is significant in that it has attempted to analyze the approach and usefulness of a self-help group program. It is suggestive that a local society support group may be necessary to help people with midlife crisis and further studies for nursing intervention and strategic development are required.

Perceptions toward Small Business Using Q-Methodology: Implications for Potential Solution Plan of Job Mismatch in Gwangju Industrial Complex (Q방법론을 활용한 중소기업 인식에 대한 연구: 광주 산업단지 일자리 미스매치 해소를 위한 함의를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to introduce a new approach to make up for the weak points in small business, to explore views of the small business employees and job-seekers on the basis of Q-Methodology. From the Q-methodology, the types of perception toward small business and their features from diverse views were drawn. The data from 33 participants were analyzed by using QUANL-PC program. The perception types were classified as four types: positive perception type, negative perception type, high evaluation about utilitarian pursuit type, neutral evaluation type. The results found that views toward small business are more positive than previous findings and perceptions were diverse beyond the dichotomy. Hence, to mitigate job mismatch, small business recruiting strategy should be provided based on diverse job-seeker types.
