다양한 레이저(CW~FS)를 이용한 폴리머 박막의 탄화현상 해석 (Analysis of Carbonization of Polymer Thin Film Using Various Lasers)

  • The process of thermal-degradation of thin-film polymeris studied in this work for various laser sources from CW to fs. Samples composed of a thin polymer layer sandwiched between two glass plates are irradiated by the lasers and the threshold irradiance of polymer carbonization is experimentally measured. In the numerical analysis, the transient temperature distribution is calculated and the number density of carbonization in the polymer layer is also estimated. It is shown that pulsed lasers can result in more uniform distribution of temperature and carbonization than the CW laser.

Formation of a Carbon Interphase Layer on SiC Fibers Using Electrophoretic Deposition and Infiltration Methods

  • This study examined carbon layer coating on silicon carbide (SiC) fibers by utilizing solid-state and wet chemistry routes to confer toughness to the fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites, as an alternative to the conventional pyrolytic carbon (PyC) interphase layer. Electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of carbon black nanoparticles using both AC and DC current sources, and the vacuum infiltration of phenolic resin followed by pyrolysis were tested. Because of the use of a liquid phase, the vacuum infiltration resulted in more uniform and denser carbon coating than the EPD routes with solid carbon black particles. Thereafter, vacuum infiltration with controlled variation in phenolic resin concentration, as well as the iterations of infiltration steps, was improvised to produce a homogeneous carbon coating having a thickness of several hundred nanometers on the SiC fiber. Conclusively, it was demonstrated that the carbon coating on the SiC fiber could be achieved using a simpler method than the conventional chemical vapor deposition technique.

경주 남산 약수곡 제4사지 출토 석재 불두의 암석학적 특징과 옻칠 도금 재료 분석 (Analysis of Petrological Characteristics and Lacquer Gilding Materials of the Stone Buddha Head Excavated from the Temple Site No.4 of Yaksugok-Valley in Namsan Mountain, Gyeongju)

  • 2019년 석조불좌상의 원위치와 사역 구조를 파악하기 위해 경주 남산 약수곡 제4사지의 첫 발굴 조사가 실시되었다. 발굴 조사를 통해 출토된 석재 불두는 인근에 방치되어 있던 머리가 없는 석조불좌상과의 비교 분석을 통해 암석학적 및 광물학적으로 동질한 것으로 확인되었다. 땅에 묻혀 있던 불두의 오른쪽 얼굴 일부분에서 금박과 검은색 접착제의 흔적이 발견되었는데 대형 석조 불상에 바탕층 없이 옻칠 도금 기법을 적용하는 것이 매우 드물기 때문에 사용된 재료의 특성을 분석하여 당시의 도금 기법을 조사하고자 하였다. 분석 현미경과 주사전자현미경-에너지 분산형 분광기를 통해 금박의 구조를 관찰하고 금(Au) 성분을 분석하였다. 열분해-기체 크로마토그래프/질량분석기를 이용하여 검은색 접착제를 분석한 결과 탄화수소, 지방산, 카테콜 그리고 카테콜 산화물 등의 열분해 화합물이 검출되었다. 이는 우루시올을 주성분으로 하는 옻나무 수종에서 채취한 옻칠을 분석하였을 때 나타나는 특징과 일치하였다. 따라서 약수곡 제4사지에서 출토된 석재 불두가 인근의 석조불좌상에서 분리된 것이며 금박을 부착하기 위해 한국, 중국, 일본 등지에서 자생하는 옻 나무에서 채취한 옻 수액을 사용한 것을 확인하였다.

페놀수지 및 에틸렌 글리콜을 첨가한 유리질 카본 코팅층의 물성 제어 (Morphology control of glassy carbon coating layer to additive ethylene glycol and phenolic resin)

  • 본 연구에서는 페놀수지를 사용하여 흑연표면에 유리질 카본 코팅을 진행하였다. 코팅액은 균일한 표면을 가지는 유리질 카본 코팅층 형성을 위해 페놀수지와 경화제, 희석제, 첨가제 등을 혼합하였다. 코팅된 페놀수지는 25~60℃에서 건조 100~200℃에서 경화 500~1,500℃에서 열처리하여 유리질 카본으로 전환하였다. 유리질 카본의 특성 분석을 위해 FTIR, XRD, SEM 분석, 밀도/기공율/접촉각 측정을 진행하였다. 유리질 카본 형성에 있어 최적 온도는 약 1,000℃로 확인되었다. 그리고 첨가제의 함량이 높아질수록 코팅 표면의 결함감소, 기공율 감소, 접촉각 증가, 밀도 증가 등의 효과를 보였다. 첨가제를 통한 유리질 카본 코팅층 형성 방법은 흑연 코팅 및 다른 분야에 적용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

알루미늄 합금의 소실모형주조 시 유동도에 미치는 주조 조건의 영향 (The Effect of Casting Conditions on the Fluidity during Lost Foam Casting of Al Alloy)

  • The effects of casting condition and hot melt glue during Lost Foam Casting were investigated on the fluidity of Al alloy melt. The fluidity increased linearly with increasing pouring temperature in thick castings but non-linearly in thin casting due to the difference in main heat flow direction. The metal flow velocity was in range of $0.5{\sim}2.7$ cm/s in no evacuation condition and the minimum value of it was measured after the melt flow through the hot melt barrier. The mold evacuation improved the metal flow velocity by around $0.5{\sim}1$ cm/s. And the reaction zone layer thickness was about 1 cm in no-evacuation conditions but about 0.6 cm in mold evacuation condition of 710 torr due to the easier removal of pyrolsis product of EPS. And hot melt barrier thickness of 0.6 mm increased the reaction zone layer thickness up to about 2.5 cm. The fluidity decreased remarkably with an enlarged thickness of hot melt due to a lot of pyrolysis products.

Analysis of Cow Hide Glue Binder in Traditional Dancheong by Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay

  • Animal glue has been used as a binder in Dancheong since the Joseon dynasty. Binders play an important role in determining the physical characteristics of a painting layer. The analysis of binders can be used to identify the materials and techniques used in traditional Dancheong. Binders can be investigated using physicochemical component analyses methods such as gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, but the detection characteristics vary depending on the degradation properties of the pigment and binder. Therefore, cross-validation using a combination of physicochemical analysis and enzyme immunoassay is used to increase the reliability of the results. In this study, we present an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) as an example of an enzyme immunoassay as a method for analyzing animal glue, a traditional binder used in Korea. The applicability of ELISA was tested using commercial animal glue, in addition to animal glue produced using a variety of extraction conditions. The animal glue was analyzed in a Noerok-additionally coated-replica sample to evaluate the possibility of analyzing the animal glue in a paint layer mixed with pigment. Based on the results, we performed an assay on the use of animal glue in the Dancheong sample of the temples of the Joseon dynasty, that are estimated to have been built in the 17th century.

레이저를 이용한 폴리머 탄화현상 해석 및 LCD 제조공정에서의 응용 (Analysis of Polymer Carbonization using Lasers and its Applications for LCD Manufacturing Process)

  • Laser carbonization of a polymer layer can be employed in various applications in the microelectronics industry, e.g repairing brightness pixels of an LCD panel. In this work, the process of thermal degradation of LCD color filter polymer by various laser sources with pulsewidths from CW to fs is studied. LCD pixels are irradiated by the lasers and the threshold irradiance of LCD color filter polymer carbonization is experimentally measured. In the numerical analysis, the transient temperature distribution is calculated and the number density of carbonization in the polymer layer is also estimated. It is shown that all the lasers can carbonize the polymer layers if the output power is adjusted to meet the thermal conditions for polymerization and that pulsed lasers can result in more uniform distribution of temperature and carbonization than the CW laser.

탄소전극 기반 페로브스카이트 태양전지 적용을 위한 조밀 이산화티타늄 분말 전자수송층 제작 비교 연구 (Comparison Study of Compact Titanium Oxide (c-TiO2) Powder Electron Transport Layer Fabrication for Carbon Electrode-based Perovskite Solar Cells)

  • This study compares the characteristics of a compact TiO2 (c-TiO2) powdery film, which is used as the electron transport layer (ETL) of perovskite solar cells, based on the manufacturing method. Additionally, its efficiency is measured by applying it to a carbon electrode solar cell. Spin-coating and spray methods are compared, and spray-based c-TiO2 exhibits superior optical properties. Furthermore, surface analysis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) exhibits the excellent surface properties of spray-based TiO2. The photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) is 14.31% when applied to planar perovskite solar cells based on metal electrodes. Finally, carbon nanotube (CNT) film electrode-based solar cells exhibits a 76% PCE compared with that of metal electrode-based solar cells, providing the possibility of commercialization.

경산 임당고분 출토 철제 고리자루칼 칠의 유기물 분석 (Organic Material Analysis of a Lacquered Wooden Sheath of Long Sword with Ring Pommel Excavated in Imdang Ancient Tomb)

  • 경북 경산에 위치한 원삼국시대 고분인 임당1호분에서 출토된 칠초 철제 고리자루칼의 칠편에 대해 칠의 구성성분과 풍화상태를 확인하기 위해 열분해/GC/MS법으로 유기물을 분석하였다. 직접 열분해/GC/MS법에서 칠편과 원주산 건조옻이 대체적으로 유사한 크로마토그램을 보였다. THM(thermally assisted hydrolysis and methylation)-열분해/GC/MS법의 경우 칠편에서 한국에 자생하는 옻나무 종의 특징적인 성분(1,2-dimethoxy-3-pentadecylbenzene 등)이 관찰되었다. 또한, dimethyl nonanedioate 등 건성유에서 비롯되는 것으로 보이는 성분도 검출되었다. 칠편에서 산화된 catechol 성분이 다량 검출되는 것으로 보아 칠의 열화가 우루시올 성분의 산화와 관련 있을 것으로 추정된다. 이로부터 임당1호분 고리자루칼 칠은 옻과 건성유를 사용하였고 오랜 시간의 경과로 산화가 많이 진행된 상태인 것으로 판단된다.

염료감응형 태양전지의 전자재결합 방지를 위한 균일한 TiO2 차단층의 제조 (Fabrication of Uniform TiO2 Blocking Layers for Prevention of Electron Recombination in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells)

  • Uniform $TiO_2$ blocking layers (BLs) are fabricated using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis deposition (USPD) method. To improve the photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), the BL thickness is controlled by using USPD times of 0, 20, 60, and 100 min, creating $TiO_2$ BLs of 0, 40, 70, and 100 nm, respectively, in average thickness on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass. Compared to the other samples, the DSSC containing the uniform $TiO_2$ BL of 70 nm in thickness shows a superior power conversion efficiency of $7.58{\pm}0.20%$ because of the suppression of electron recombination by the effect of the optimized thickness. The performance improvement is mainly attributed to the increased open-circuit voltage ($0.77{\pm}0.02V$) achieved by the increased Fermi energy levels of the working electrodes and the improved short-circuit current density ($15.67{\pm}0.43mA/cm^2$) by efficient electron transfer pathways. Therefore, optimized $TiO_2$ BLs fabricated by USPD may allow performance improvements in DSSCs.
