To decompose carbon dioxide, which is a representative greenhouse gas, a plasma torch was designed and manufactured. To examine the characteristics of carbon dioxide decomposition via plasma discharge, a case wherein pure carbon dioxide was supplied and a case wherein methane and/or $TiCl_4$ were injected as additives were investigated and compared. The carbon dioxide and methane conversion rate, energy decomposition efficiency, produced gas concentration, carbon monoxide and hydrogen selectivity, carbon-black and $TiO_2$ were also investigated. The maximum carbon dioxide conversion rate was 28.9% when pure carbon dioxide was supplied; 44.6% when $TiCl_4$ was injected as am additive; and 100% percent when methane was injected as an additive. Therefore, this could be explained that the methane injection showed the highest carbon dioxide decomposition. Furthermore, the carbon-black and $TiO_2$ were compared with each commercial materials through XRD and SEM. It was found that the carbon-black that was produced in this study is similar for commercial materials. It was found that the $TiO_2$ that was produced in this study is suitable for photocatalyst and pigment because it has mixed anataze and rutile.

Pure $In_2O_3$, 0.5 and 1.0 wt% Mg doped $In_2O_3$ hollow spheres were synthesized by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis of a solution containing In-, Mg-nitrate and sucrose and their gas sensing characteristics to 5 ppm $C_2H_5OH$, p-xylene, toluene, and HCHO were measured at 250, 300 and $350^{\circ}C$. Although the addition of Mg decreases the specific surface area and the volume of meso-pores, the gas response (resistance ratio) of the 0.5 wt% Mg doped $In_2O_3$ hollow spheres to 5 ppm $C_2H_5OH$ at $350^{\circ}C$ (69.4) was significantly higher than that of the pure $In_2O_3$ hollow spheres (24.4). In addition, the Mg doped $In_2O_3$ hollow spheres showed the highest selectivity to $C_2H_5OH$. This was attributed to the dehydrogenation of $C_2H_5OH$ assisted by basic MgO into reactive $CH_3CHO$ and $H_2$.
Nickel oxide (NiO) thin films were prepared on Si(100) substrates at room temperature by RF magnetron sputtering using a NiO target. The effects of oxygen flow ratio for the plasma gas on the preferred orientation and surface morphology of the NiO films were investigated. Highly crystalline NiO film with (100) orientation was obtained when it was deposited in pure Ar gas. For NiO film deposited in pure O$_2$ gas, on the other hand, the orientation of the film changed from (100) to (111) and its deposition rate decreased. The origin of the preferred orientation of the films was discussed. NiO films also showed different surface morphologies and roughnesses with the oxygen flow ratio.

A study has been conducted to provide the experimental information for the velocity and temperature profiles of steam-air mixutre and to investigate their roles on the film condensation with wavy interface. Saturated gas mixture of steam-air was made to flow through the nearly horizontal$(4.1^{\circ})$ square duct of 0.1m width and 1.56m length at atmospheric pressure, and was condensated on the bottom cold plate. The air mass fraction in the gas mixture was changed from zero(W =0, pure steam) to one(W =1, pure air), and the bulk velocity was varied from 2 to 4 m/s. Water film was injected concurrently to investigate the effect of wavy interface on the condensation. The velocity and temperature profiles were measured by LDA system and thermocouples along the three parameters ; air mass fraction, mixture velocity and film flow rate. The profiles moved toward the interface with increasing steam mass fraction, mixture velocity and film flow rate. The Prandtl and Schmidt numbers were near one in the present experimental range, however there was no complete similarity between the velocity and temperature profiles of gas mixture. And the heat transfer characteristics and interfacial structure were coupled with each other.
Effects of GBF (gas bubbling filtration) treatment conditions and scrap ratio on the electric conductivity of a commercial pure aluminum for diecasting were investigated using by specific gravity and electrical conductivity measurement system, hydrogen gas analyzer, XRD, and EDS. Electrical conductivities of specimen mixed Al scrap ratio until 60% from 0% were decreased with increasing the precipitates amount and size of AlFeSi ternary intermetallic compound on the grain boundary as well as amount of porosity in the grain. On the other hand, electrical conductivities was reincreased gradually in spite of scrap ratio increase from 80% to 100%. Size of AlFeSi compound formed on the grain boundary were coarsened with the increament of scrap ratios untill 80% and GBF treatment time simultaneously.

This paper describes the information for quantitative simulation of weakly ionized plasma. We should grasp the meaning of the plasma state condition to utilize engineering application and to understand materials of plasma state. In this paper, the drift velocity of electron in $SF_6+O_2$ mixture gas calculated for range E/N values l~900[Td] at the temperature is 300[$^{\circ}K$] and pressure is 1[Torr], using a set of electron collision cross sections determined by the authors and the values of drift velocity of electrons are obtained for TOF, PT, SST sampling method of Backward Prolongation by two term approximation Boltzmann equation method. It has also been used to predict swarm parameter using the values of cross section as input. The result of Boltzmann equation, the drift velocity of electrons, has been compared with pure $SF_6$, pure $O_2$ and mixture gas.
In these days $SF_6$ mixtures and alternative gas have been studied because of global warming and liquefying at low temperature and high pressure. At present work the breakdown characteristics of $SF_6/CF_4$ mixture in non-uniform field was performed. The experiments were carried out under positive and negative standard lightning impulse (SLT) voltages. The point-plane electrode was used with 3 mm gap distance in the test chamber. The $SF_6/CF_4$ mixture which contain 20% of $SF_6$ was compared with pure $SF_6$ and $CF_4$ gas. Experimental gas pressure ranged from 0.1 to 0.4 MPa. The breakdown voltage under negative SLI is higher than the breakdown voltage under positive voltage. And the breakdown voltage of $SF_6$ 20%, $CF_4$ 80% mixture is similar to that of pure $SF_6$.
In this study, a simulation technology for refrigeration cycle which can liquefy and store liquified petroleum gas (LPG) using pure propane as a refrigerant has been introduced. Cooling water as the second cooling medium was used for the liquefaction of propane. Peng-Robinson equation of state was used for the entire refrigeration cycle. A new alpha formulation proposed by Twu et al. was used for the more accurate prediction of vapor pressures of pure propane component and LPG constituents. API method for the accurate estimation of liquid densities of propane and LPG was used instead of using Peng-Robinson equation of state. PRO/II with PROVISION release 7.1, a general purpose chemical process simulator was used for the simulation of the overall refrigeration system. Through this work, we can successfully simulate the real propane refrigeration plant operating at domestic site.
The natural convection and combined heat transfer induced by fire in a rectangular enclosure is numerically studied. The model for this numerical analysis is partially opened right wall. The solution procedure includes the standard k-$\varepsilon$ model for turbulent flow and the discrete ordinates method (DOM) is used for the calculation of radiative heat transfer equation. In numerical study, SIMPLE algorithm is applied for fluid flow analysis, and the investigations of combustion gas induced by fire is performed by FAST model of HAZARD I program. In this study, numerical simulation on the combined naturnal convection and radiation is carried out in a partial enclosure filled with absorbed-emitted gray media, but is not considered scattering problem. The streamlines, isothermal lines, average radiation intensity and kinetic energy are compared the results of pure convection with those of the combined convection-radiation, the combined heat transfer. Comparing the results of pure convection with those of the combined convection-radiation, the combined heat transfer analysis shows the stronger circulation than those of the pure convection. Three different locations of heat source are considered to observe the effect of heat source location on the heat transfer phenomena. As the results, the circulation and the heat transfer in the left region from heating block are much more influenced than those in the right region. It is also founded that the radiation effect cannot be neglected in analyzing the building in fire. And as the results of combustion gas analysis from FAST model, it is found that O2 concentration is decreased according to time. While CO and CO2 concentration are rapidly increased in the beginning(about 100sec), but slowly decreased from that time on.
Lab-scale and pilot-scale productions of photosynthetic bacteria, that were able to efficiently treat wastewater from aquacultural farm, were experimented for their highly-pure culture. The results of experiments in a gas pack reactor, an anaerobic flask and a flask using $N_2$ gas as N-source showed that only photosynthetic bacteria formed red colonies on agar plate and their purity was over 90% in a colony, observed under a microscope. It was found that the basal medium could most promote the growth of photosynthetic bacteria, confirmed by experiments of serial cultures on various media. Under the culture conditions, the specific growth rate was found to be $0.18h^{-1}$ from the culture in 5L bioreactor and the same value could be obtained in pilot-scale production.
