다운 스피딩이 NEDC 모드 연비에 미치는 기여도 산출에 관한 연구 (Analysis of Down Speeding Effect on Fuel Economy during NEDC)

  • Development trend of modern HSDI diesel engine is now focusing on low fuel consumption and emission because of strong interest in global environmental protection. Two big branches of criteria for modern diesel engine development are down sizing and down speeding. Down sizing keeps engine operation condition to the direction of higher load and thus pursuing for better thermal efficiency. But this may cause degraded vehicle dynamic performance because of reduced back up torque. Down speeding keeps engine operation condition to the direction of slightly higher load and lower engine speed. Therefore reduction of back up torque can be limited within flat torque area. This study analyzed fuel economy effect of down speeding on a vehicle powered by HSDI diesel engine in aspect of engine friction work, intake and exhaust pumping work, exhaust hat loss and thermal loss of fuel leakage of fuel injection system. Contribution factor of each engine and vehicle related parameters under basic and down speeding condition were compared and work balance of down speeding during NEDC was analyzed.

Establishment of the Measurement System of the Magnetic Field for the Study on the Magnetic Field Tolerance of TMP

  • When strong static magnetic field is applied to the TMP, it is expected that the presence of the magnetic field might retard the velocity of the blades which results in the change of the pumping speed of the TMP. However, such effect of the magnetic field on the TMP has not been well characterized. Thus, under the strong magnetic field, monitoring pumping speed as well as generated heat, pressure, and vibration of the TMP may be an important issue to understand the magnetic field tolerance of the TMP and the development of magnetic shielding technique for the key components of the pump. For this purpose, magnetic field generation system to the vertical direction by a circular current source was firstly designed and suggested [K. Baik et al., 44th Annual Conf. KVS, 22(1), 153, (2012)]. In the current study, another magnetic field generation systems are presented to apply the magnetic field to the horizontal and radial directions by the rectangular current sources and the permanent magnets respectively. Such systems were made to generate at least 50 Gauss of magnetic field along the vertical direction and at least 25 Gauss of magnetic field along the horizontal or radial direction. Current study introduces the evaluation system of the magnetic field along the vertical, horizontal, and radial directions and presents the measured experimental results of the magnetic field when such systems are combined with the equipment where TMP will be installed.

  • In this paper, a new method to estimate stress status in metal nondestructively by using nonlinear dependency of sound speed on stress is proposed. For the purpose, equivalent nonlinear elastic constants up to fourth-order are introduced and a new characteristic parameter given as a function of these constants is presented. And a concrete system to measure the characteristic parameter is constructed by electromagnetic pumping wave and ultrasonic probing wave system. Some experimental results for Al alloy showed that the estimation of stress status in metal is possible by the proposed method.

  • Arm-type implements of tractor are mainly utilized for the slope land operation. The proposed hydraulic system was implemented to arm-type implements of tractor. An experiment was conducted to evaluate response characteristics of the designed arm-type implement control system attached by three-point hitch of tractor at various conditions, such as engine speed, pumping rate and cylinder input flow. Effects of the valve response time didn't affect engine speed. The flow rate of pump and cylinder changed to the pressure loss. Also, the pressure loss was within 2 MPa and the response characteristic was sufficient enough to use as the arm-type implement system.

  • Waterhammer and slamming phenomena can occur when power is cut off due to reversal flow in pipeline and sudden close of check valve. Therefore analysis of reversal flow time, which means the time of reversal flow in pipeline due to pumping station blackout, is needed to protect facilities from waterhammer economically and efficiently. However systematic study on reversal flow time has not been done yet. So theory of reversal flow time analysis is proposed and verified with experiment using several parameters like pump specific speed, motor pole number, and characteristic curve of pipeline in this study.

A controller comprising tail wing control of a hybrid autonomous underwater vehicle for use as an underwater glider

  • A controller for an underwater glider is presented. Considered underwater glider is a torpedo-shaped autonomous underwater vehicle installing adjustable buoyancy bag and movable battery in it. The controller is composed of an LQR controller to maintain zigzag vertical movement for gliding and two PD controllers to control elevator/rudder angles. The LQR controller controls the pumping speed into the buoyancy bag and the moving speed to locate the battery. One of the PD controller controls the elevator angle to assist the LQR controller, and the other controls the rudder angle to adjust the direction of the underwater glider. A reduced order Luenberger observer is adopted to estimates the center of gravity of the glider and the buoyancy mass that are essential but cannot be measured. Mathematical simulation using Matlab proved the validity of the proposed controller to obtain better performance than conventional LQR only controller under the influence of sea current.

CFD를 이용한 패들교반속도에 따른 속도경사 및 총물질전달시간 산정 (Evaluation of Local Velocity Gradient and Total Mass transfer Time at Various Rotating Velocity by Using Computational Fluid Dynamics)

  • Velocity gradient, G, a measure of the average velocity gradient in the fluid has been applied for complete mixing of chemicals in mechanical mixing devices. G values were calculated by the power input transferred to fluid in turbulent and transient range. Chemical reactions occur so fast that total mass transfer time required for even distribution of the chemicals determine the overall reaction time. The total mass transfer time is composed of the time for complete mixing through the reactor and for diffusion of the chemicals into the eddy. Complete mixing time was calculated by CFD (computer fluid dynamics) and evaluated by tracer tests in 2 liter jars at different rotating speeds. Turbulent range, Reynolds number above 10,000 in regular 2 liter jars occurred at revolution speed above 100 rpm (revolution per minute), while laminar range occurred at revolution speed below 10 rpm. A typical range of rotating speed used in jar tests for water and wastewater treatment was between 10 and 300 rpm, which covered both transient and turbulent range. G values supplied from a commercial jar test apparatus showed big difference from those calculated with power number specially in turbulent range. Diffusion time through eddy decreased 1.5 power-law of rotating speed. Complete mixing time determined by pumping number decreased increases in rotating speed. Total mass transfer time, finally, decreases as rotating speed increases, and it becomes 1 sec at rotating speed of 1,000 rpm. Complete mixing times evaluated from tracer tests showed higher than those calculated by power number at higher rotating speed. Complete mixing times, however, calculated by CFD showed similar to those of experimentally evaluated ones.

튜브열차 구조물의 진공 펌프 용량에 관한 파라메타 연구 (Parametric Study on the Capacity of Vacuum Pump for Tube Structure)

  • 튜브 구조물의 압력을 대기압 이하로 유지하는데에 사용될 진공 펌프의 용량을 설정하기 위한 파라메타 연구를 수행하였다. 최근 철도 기술 연구자들은 초고속 수송 시스템의 하나인 튜브 열차 시스템에 관심을 가지게 되었다. 초고속을 달성하기 위하여 튜브 내부를 저압으로 유지할 필요가 있는데, 저압에서는 공기 저항이 극단적으로 줄어들기 때문이다. 진공 펌프 시스템은 튜브 내부를 저압으로 만들고, 누설을 보충하는 역할을 한다. 일련의 연구결과, 다양한 파라메타에 대한 진공 펌프의 용량을 구하였다. 이 결과들은 공기 저항 저감 효과를 분석하는데에 적용될 것이다.

  • EIT 구도에 비결맞음 광펌핑(incoherent optical pumping) 과정을 더하여 구성된 밀도 반전 없는 광증폭(Amplification without inversion; AWI)매질에서 광펄스의 전파 과정에 대한 이론적인 분석을 실시하였다 펌핑광의 세기를 변화시킴으로써 광펄스의 군속도를 제어할 수 있음을 실험적으로 관측한 논문[Kim et al., J. Phys. B, 36 (2003)]을 이론적으로 설명하기 위차여 5 준위 원자계를 모형으로 선택하여 밀도행렬방정식을 적용하였다. 특히,본 연구에서 분석한 AWI 구도는 지금까지 연구되어 온 구도와 달리 EIT 구도 밖의 독립적인 에너지 준위들 사이의 전이선을 이용함으로써 보다 많은 원자들이 상호작용에 기여할 수 있는 구도이다. AWI증폭 효율에 결정적인 영향을 미치는 것은 바닥 준위 사이의 충돌에 의한 밀도 전이가 주요하다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었으며, 보다 많은 원자들을 상호작용에 참여시킴으로써 광펄스의 속도를 효과적으로 조절할 수 있음이 수치해석 결과를 통해 밝혔고. 이는 실험 결과와 정성적으로 일치함을 알 수 있었다.

24,000TEU급 컨테이너선박의 빌지 펌핑 성능에 대한 고찰 (A Study on Bilge Pumping Performance of 24,000TEU class Container Ship)

  • 본 연구에서는 전장이 400m인 24,000TEU급 컨테이너선박을 대상으로 선박 내 빌지펌핑의 성능에 대한 케이스 스터디를 수행하였다. 본 연구의 대상인 24,000TEU급 컨테이너선박의 빌지시스템의 경우 선급의 규칙에 맞게 설계되었지만, 선박 내 설치되어 있는 빌지펌프의 정격유량 및 최대유량 조건에서도 SOLAS Reg.II-1/35-1의 2 m/s 요건을 만족시키지 못하였다. 특히 1번 ~ 4번 화물창에 대해, 해수로 가득차 있다고 가정한 상태에서 해수를 모두 배출하는 동안에 빌지 주관에서의 평균유속을 계산할 결과, 2번 화물창, 3번 화물창 및 4번 화물창은 평균유속이 2 m/s 미만으로 기준에 적합하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 이를 해결하기 위해 2번, 3번 및 4번 화물창의 150A 빌지 지관을 200A 배관으로 교체하여 계산을 수행하였으며, 그 결과 화물창 내의 해수를 모두 배출하는 동안의 빌지 주관에서의 해수평균유속이 각각 2.479m/s, 2.476,m/s 및 2.459m/s 로 기준을 만족시키는 것을 알 수 있었다.
