NI법에 의한 기계적 특성에 미치는 ZnO박막의 기판재의 영향 (Influence of Substrate on Mechanical Characteristics of ZnO Thin Film by NI Technology)

  • Recently there has been a great world-wide interest in developing and characterizing new nano-structured materials. These newly developed materials are often prepared in limited quantities and shapes unsuitable for the extensive mechanical testing. The development of depth sensing indentation methods have introduced the advantage of load and depth measurement during the indentation cycle. In the present work, ZnO thin films are prepared on the Glass, GaAs(100), Si(111), and Si(100) substrates at different temperatures by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) method. Because the potential energy in c-axis is law, the films always shaw c-axis orientation at the optimized conditions in spite of the different substrates. Thin films are investigated by X-ray diffractometer and Nano indentation equipment. From these measurements it is possible to get elastic modulus and hardness of ZnO thin films on all substrates.

Controller Optimization for Bidirectional Power Flow in Medium-Voltage DC Power Systems

  • This paper focuses on the control of bidirectional power flow in the electric shipboard power systems, especially in the Medium-Voltage Direct Current (MVDC) shipboard power system. Bidirectional power control between the main MVDC bus and the local zones can improve the energy efficiency and control flexibility of electric ship systems. However, since the MVDC system contains various nonlinear loads such as pulsed power load and radar in various subsystems, the voltage of the MVDC and the local zones varies significantly. This voltage variation affects the control performance of the bidirectional DC-DC converters as exogenous disturbances. To improve the control performance regardless of uncertainties and disturbances, this paper proposes a novel controller design method of the bidirectional DC-DC converters using $L_1$ control theory and intelligent optimization algorithm. The performance of the proposed method is verified via large-scale real-time digital simulation of a notional shipboard MVDC power system.

  • In manufacturing processes, various and suitable pulse shapes are required for the purpose of material processing and the pulseshape is regarded as a dominant factor due to the specific property of processing materials. Therefore, in this study, a variable pulse width, high duty cycle Pulse Forming Network(PFN) is constructed by time sequently. The power supply for this experiment consists of three switching circuits. The PFN elements operate at low voltage and drive the primary of HV leakage transformer. The secondary of the transformer has a full-wave rectifier, which passes the pulse energy to the load in a continuous sequence of properly phased and nested increments. We investigated laser pulse width as various delay time among three switching circuit. As a result, we tan obtain various laser pulse width from about 4ms to 10ms. The maximum laser pulse width obtained at this experiment was about 10ms at delay time of 4ms among each switching circuit.

  • This paper describes a study of conventional electrical rig and simulated application of Flywheel Energy Storage system on the power system of the offshore plants with dynamic positioning system with the following aims: improve fuel consumption on engines, prevent blackout and mitigate voltage sags due to pulsed load and fault. Fuel consumption has been analyzed for the generators of the typical drilling rigs compared with the power plant with Flywheel Storage Unit which has an important aid in avoiding power interruption during DP (Dynamic Positioning) operation. The FES (Fly wheel Energy storage System) releases energy very quickly and efficiently to ensure continuity of the power supply to essential consumers such as auxiliary machinery and thrusters upon main power failure. It will run until the standby diesel generator can start and supply the electric power to the facilities to keep the vessel in correct position under DP operation. The proposed backup method to utilize the quick and large energy storage Flywheel system can be optimized in any power system design on offshore plant.

대출력 펄스 클라이스트론 부하의 성능시험 (Performance Test of High-Power Pulsed Klystron-Load)

  • 포항 방사광 가속기의 선형가속기는 2.5GeV 전자빔 용 마이크로웨이브의 발생을 위하여 80MW 급 클라이스트론(klystron) 11대와 입사부 용 65MW 급 클라이스트론 1대를 사용한다. 80-MW 급 클라이스트론 부하를 구동하기 위하여 최대 펄스 정격출력 200 MW(400kv, 500A, 평탄도 4.4 ${\mu}s$)인 대출력 펄스 전원공급 장치(modulator)가 요구된다. 모듈레이터 시스템 용 PFN(pulse forming network) 커패시터의 충전용 입력전원으로써 최대 출력전압 50 kV, ${\pm}$ 0.5% 이내의 전압제어가 가능한 고전압 인버터 전원장치를 적용하여 클라이스트론 부하의 성능시험을 수행하였다. 클라이스트론의 RF 전력과 입력 빔의 특성을 정확히 측정하기 위하여 응답특성이 양호한 측정 장치와 정밀한 측정이 요구된다. 인버터 시스템의 적용에 따른 모듈레이터의 충전 특성을 파악하였으며, 방향성 결합기와 검파기를 설치하여 클라이스트론의 RF 출력을 측정하였다. 본 논문에서는 포항 방사광 가속기의 대출력 펄스 고주파원으로 사용되는 클라이스트론 부하의 성능시험 과정에서 수행하였던 시험장치 개선 및 특성 분석, 고전압(빔전압 320 kV) 및 RF 길들이기의 시험 결과에 관하여 고찰하고자 한다.

Cost Effective Design of High Voltage Impulse Generator and Modeling in Matlab

  • Quality of the power system depends upon the reliability of its components such as transformer, transmission lines, insulators, circuit breakers and isolators. The transient voltage due to internal or external reasons may affect the insulation level of the components. The insulation level of these components must be tested against these conditions. Different studies, testing of different electrical components against high voltage impulses and different industrial applications rely on the international manufactures for pulsed power generation and testing, that is quite expensive and large in size. In this paper a model of impulse voltage generator with capacitive load of pin type insulator is studied by simulation method and by an experimental setup. A ten stage high voltage impulse generator (HVIG) is designed and implemented for different applications. In this proposed model, the cost has been reduced by using small and cheap capacitors as an alternative for large and expensive ones while achieving the same effectiveness. Effect of the distributed capacitance in each stage is analyzed to prove the effectiveness of the model. Different values of front and tail resistances have been used to get IEC standard waveforms. Results reveal the effectiveness at reduced cost of the proposed model.

안정적 고반복을 위한 지연시간 제어회로가 적용된 커패시터 충전용 전원장치 (A Capacitor Charging Power Supply(CCPS) using Dead Time Control Circuit for Stable High Repetition)

  • Capacitor Charging Power Supply(CCPS) is one of the most important components of a pulsed power system. The CCPS is widely used in source of lasers, accelerators and plasma generators. This paper presents design of a dead time control circuit and operation characteristics for stable high repetition rate of high voltage CCPS. The CCPS consists of battery, high voltage transformer and controller with a dead time control circuit. A dead time control circuit was simulated by PSpice. The performance test of the CCPS was carried out with a 7[nF] load capacitor at output voltage of 50[kV] and a pulse repetition frequency of 100[Hz]. As a result, we can verify that charging and discharging waveform is stable at 100[Hz]. The experiment results indicate that 3[ms] dead time made it possible for stable high repetition rate of 100[Hz]. This paper paves the way for designing an advanced CCPS which is more applicable outside experiments.

  • At present, the low-voltage, high-current type power supply is mainly used for effective sterilization in the ballast water treatment system. Research on PSFB converters without output capacitors has been ongoing. Such converters effectively treat ballast water without a separate disinfectant through electric pulses by applying a pulse-type power to the output electrode without an output capacitor. However, in the case of the pulse-type electrolysis treatment method, voltage overshoot can occur due to abrupt voltage fluctuations when the load changes, resulting in circuit reliability problems because of the output capacitorless system. Therefore, a new voltage control algorithm is required. In this paper, we will discuss voltage control for pulsed electrolysis topology without an output capacitor. The proposed voltage control method has been verified using Simulation and experiment. The usefulness of the proposed control method has been proven by the experimental results.

사전-정합 로드-풀 측정을 통한 X-대역 40 W급 펄스 구동 GaN HEMT 전력증폭기 설계 (Design of X-band 40 W Pulse-Driven GaN HEMT Power Amplifier Using Load-Pull Measurement with Pre-matched Fixture)

  • 본 논문에서는 X-대역에서 GaN HEMT 소자의 로드-풀 측정을 통한 40 W급 전력증폭기 모듈의 설계, 제작을 보였다. 전력증폭기의 설계에 적용하기 위한 능동 소자로, 최근 발표된 TriQuint사의 GaN HEMT 소자를 선정하였다. 로드-풀 측정 시스템의 임피던스 튜너의 임피던스 범위 제한으로 인하여, 시험치구 내에 사전-정합 회로를 구성하였다. 사전-정합 회로가 포함된 로드-풀 측정을 통해 최적 입 출력 임피던스를 도출하기 위하여, 사전-정합 회로의 2-포트 S-파라미터가 필요하며, 이의 새로운 추출 방법을 제안하였다. 이와 같이 결정된 사전-정합 회로의 S-파라미터를 반영한 로드-풀 측정을 통해 도출된 최적 입 출력 임피던스는 데이터 시트와 근접한 결과를 주며, 이를 통해 측정의 타당성을 확인하였다. 전력증폭기의 정합 회로는 도출된 최적 임피던스로부터 EM co-simulation을 이용하여 설계하였다. 제작된 전력증폭기는 15${\times}$17.8 $mm^2$으로 소형의 크기를 가지며, 10 usec의 펄스 폭, 10 % duty의 펄스 입력 및 드레인 스위칭 상태에서, 9~9.5 GHz 대역 내 출력은 46.7~46.3 dBm, 전력 이득은 8.7~8.3 dB, 효율은 약 35 %의 특성을 보인다.

윤활영역에서 멀티크기 Laser Surface Texturing 효과 (Improvement of Tribological Characteristics of Multi-Scale Laser-Textured Surface in terms of Lubrication Regime)

  • Laser Surface Texturing(LST) is a surface engineering process used to improve tribological characteristics of materials by creating patterned microstructures on the mechanical contact surface. In LST technology, a pulsated laser beam is used to create arranged dimples on a surface by a material ablation process, which can improve such as load capacity, wear resistances, lubrication lifetime, and reduce friction coefficients. In the present study, the effect of multi-scale LST on lubricant regime was investigated. A pulsed Nd:YAG laser was applied on the bearing steel(AISI 52100) to create arranged dimples. To optimize the surface texturing effect on friction, multi-scale texture dimples with some specific formula arrays were fabricated by combining circles, ellipses and the laser ablation process. The tribological testing of multi-scale textured surface was performed by a flat-on-flat unidirectional tribometer under lubrication and the results compared with that of the non-textured surface. Through an increase in sliding speed, the beneficial effect of multi-scale LST performance was achieved. The multi-scale textured surface had lower friction coefficient performances than the non-textured surface due to the hydrodynamic lubrication effect.
