Analyses of Two Different Versions of HETCOR Techniques for Solids

  • Solid HETCOR (Hetero-Correlation) requires homo-dipolar decoupling between proton spins during the evolution and the mixing period in 2D-NMR. There are two different ways of achieving it with pulse sequences. One is based on the multiple pulse (MP) sequence where thousands of intense radio frequency (rf) pulses are used to remove the homo-dipolar interaction between protons. The other is utilizing the so-called Lee-Goldburg (LG) off-resonance scheme where a continuous rf-irradiation is used. In this report, the advantage of one technique to the other, is analyzed. LG version is evaluated better in S/N and easier in setup procedure with the same experimental time.

  • The design and fabrication technologies of pulse power reversely switched-on dynistor have been developed 1200V/120kA pulse power reversely switched-on dynistor device have been designed by analytically and numerically using commercial modeling S/W The important characteristics of reversely switched-on dynistors are breakover voltage $V_{BO}$, commutative peak voltage before steady state $V_m$, on-state voltage in steady state $V_o$, turn-off time $t_q$, dV/dt capability.

다결정 다이아몬드의 와이어방전가공에 관한 연구 (The Study on the WEDM of Polycrystalline Diamond)

  • Polycrystalline diamonds(PCD) tools are widely used in machining a large variety of advanced materials. However, the manufacture of PCD tool blanks is not an economical process. The shaping of PCD blanks with conventional machining methods(such a grinding) is long, labor-intensive process. This paper reports experimental investigation of the influence of electrical machining conditions on the metal removal rate of WEDM of PCD. Experimental results show that the longer pulse-on time and the shorter pulse-off time increase the metal removal rate and worsen the surface quality. The smaller grain size of diamond yields the metal removal rate and shows the better surface quality. Higher electrical conductivity of water yields worse surface roughness.

  • This paper proposes a method for determining optimal EDM parameters based on discharge area from the physical model of a tool electrode. Main parameters, which affect the EDM performance, are peak value of currents, pulse-on time, and pulse-off time. Such parameters are closely dependent on the discharge area in EDM process. In this paper the discharge area is estimated from the CMM scanning data to the tool electrode. The method is very useful when any geometric information to the tool electrode is not provided from tool modeler or producer. The method consists of following four steps. First a triangulation mesh is constructed from the CMM data. Secondly, the z-map is modeled from the triangulated mesh. Thirdly, the discharge area is estimated from intersection between the z-map model and a z-height plane. Finally, the machining parameters are easily calculated by some known EDM equations to the discharge area. An example is introduced to show that the machining parameters are calculated from the CMM data to a tool electrode.

  • The purpose of this study was to present the method to choose the optimization machining condition for the wire electric discharge machine. This was completed by examining the ever-changing quality of the material and by improving the function of the wire electric discharge machine. Precision metal mold products and the unmanned wire electric discharge machining system were used and then applied in industrial fields. This experiment uses the wire electric discharge machine with brass wire electrode of 0.25mm. In this experiment, we changed no-node voltage to 7 and 9, pulse-on-time to 6$mutextrm{s}$, 8$mutextrm{s}$ and 10$mutextrm{s}$, pulse-off-time to 8$mutextrm{s}$, 10$mutextrm{s}$ and 13$mutextrm{s}$, and experimented on wire tension at room temperature by 1000gf, 1200gf, and 1400gf, respectively.

  • In this study, the characteristics of Wire Electrical Discharge Machining(WEDM) of the high-hardened mold steel were investigated. WEDM experiments have been carried out based on parameter of wire diameter, pulse on time, pulse off time, feed rate and cycle etc. From the results, the optimized WEDM cycle of RIGOR steel has been revealed as $5{\sim}7$ times. Also, geometrical accuracy of the Core Pin is dependent on WEDM wire radius machining condition and wire chattering.

  • From the experimental study of Wire-Cut EDM of die-material(SKD-11), machining characteristics such as machining rate, surface roughness and hardness have been observed and evaluated under the conditions varing pulse on time, pulse off time, peak voltage after fixing other conditions. It was found that various operating conditions have significant influences on machining rate, surface roughness. Hardness of workpiece was unaffected by operating conditions.

  • This paper presents a method for determining machining parameters in electrical discharge machining process (EDM) based on discharge area. The parameters are the peak value of currents, the pulse-on time, and the pulse-off time, on which the EDM performance depends chiefly. The optimal machining parameters are closely related on discharge area, which can be calculated from a tool electrode and a discharge height. In the paper the discharge area is obtained from NC code for machining the tool electrode instead of its geometric model. The method consists of following three steps. First a Z-Map model is constructed from the NC code. Secondly, the discharge area is obtained from the Z-Map model and a Z-height. Finally, the machining parameters are calculated from the discharge area. An introduced example shows that the machining parameters are calculated by the using a Z-map model obtained from the machining data for a tool electrode.

  • In this paper, two parts of neural networks were proposed for determination of optimal EDM parameters. One is pattern recognition neural network that can be selecting expert neural network suitable to the EDM mode. The other is expert neural network that can be determining optimal EDM parameters such as pulse on time and pulse off time. Prior to determination of EDM parameters, Peak current, which is related to the EDM area closely, determined base on EDM area that is calculated from CAD data, firstly. Then, the other EDM parameters determined by the expert neural network that is selected to the EDM mode.

  • The machining parameters for the wire electrical discharge machining(WEDM), including no load voltage, pulse-on time, pulse-off time, wire tension, water flow rata offset etc. should be chosen properly so that a better performance can be obtained An optimum selection of machining parameters relies heavily on the operators technologies and experience. This study presents a method by means of Taguchi method to select optimal machining parameter combination for an cutting speed or surface roughness. Experimental results demonstrate that the machining models are appropriate and the derived machining parameters satisfy the real requirements in notice.
