Study on the Formation Mechanism of Hard Chrome Surface Morphology by Atomic Force Microscopy

  • Atomic force microscopy was applied to study the formation and growth mechanism of thin chrome layers prepared under various pulse plating conditions. The chrome was electro-deposited from an electrolyte bath containing 250 gl-l of chromic acid, 25 gl-l of sulfuric acid using direct current density of $1.6{\;}mA.$\textrm{mm}^{-2} and pulse currents with on-off time from 5 to 900 ms. The higher current density enhanced nucleation rate which resulted in refining grain size. The chrome growth kinetics determining nodule size and shape significantly depends on the duration of on-time rather than duration of off-time and on/off time ratio.

  • Influence of frequency and duty ratio on electro-optical characteristics are experimentally investigated in surface AC plasma display panels(AC-PDPs) by using the VDS(Versitile Driving Simulator)., in which electrode gap and width are 100 ${\mu}m$ and 260 ${\mu}m$, respectively. The filling gas is Ne-Xe gas mixture, and total pressure 400 Torr. It is found that the response time gets to be fast from 450 ns to 150 ns as pulse-off time of the sustain pulse decreases from 2 ${\mu}s$ to 0.2 ${\mu}s$. Also it is found that the IR(Infra Red) intensity and the luminous decreases as pulse-off time of the sustain pulse increases from 0.2 ${\mu}s$ to 2 ${\mu}s$.

The effect of pulse current electrolysis on the composition and themicrostructure of Tin-Zinc electrodeposits (주석-아연 합금도금층의 조성 및 조직에 미치는 파형전류전해의 영향)

  • Composition and microstructure of the tin-zinc alloys electroplated in gluconate bath were studied according to pulse current parameters. The cathode current efficiency increased with both the mean current density and the off-time decrease. Zinc content of the alloy deposits increased with increasing mean current density, while it decreased noticebly with increasing the off-time from 10-30ms to 100-150ms. The preferred orientation of the alloy deposits changed with the increase of peak current density in the sequence of (220)longrightarrow(220)+(420) or (220)+(420)+(321) mixed structure. The equiaxed grain size of the alloy increased with the increase of off-time and the decrease of mean current density.

  • The optically-gated p-i-n diode switches have been fabricated with gold-compensated silicon. The turn-on and turn-off delay times and the rise and fall times were measured as a function of optical power level, bias, and pulse width. The turn-on characteristics shows a strong dependence an optical pulse power and a delay time(${\delta}{\iota}$) between two pulses, but a weak dependence on the width of optical pulse. Actually there is no turn-off delay in gold-doped p-i-n switches and the fall time is negligible.

Comparison of Manual Chest Compression and Chest Compression Using AutoPulseTM Device in Pre-Hospital Simulation Cardiac arrest

  • The purpose of this study was to find more effective method through comparison of manual chest compression and chest compression using $AutoPulse^{TM}$ device in pre-hospital simulation cardiac arrest. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, ambulance workers did two different style CPR in pre-hospital simulation cardiac arrest. Data analyzed by T test and ANOVA. Findings of this study are as follows. Firstly, manual chest compression is more effective than chest compression using $AutoPulse^{TM}$ device on scene. Secondly, chest compression using $AutoPulse^{TM}$ device is more effective manual chest compression in ambulance and in elevator. In conclusion, these findings provide strong evidence for the importance of hands off time and stable CPR before hospital arrival in explaining patient's prognosis. Therefore, strategies to conduct precise hands off time and stable CPR are needed to improve patient's prognosis.

  • This paper is concerned with effective operating method of pneumatic on-off valves for improving position control accuracy, valve life-time and position settling time using modified pulse width modulation with dead-zone. The pneumatic system using on-off valves studied in this paper has advantage of simple construction and low cost compared with a system with servo-valves. The performance of proposed control system is investigated experimentally for the position control of a pneumatic cylinder using on-off valves. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm for valve operation can be used to obtain fast and accurate position control and to prevent on-off valves from unnecessary switching.

  • In this paper, a novel new pulse power generator based on IGBT stacks is proposed for pulse power application. Because it can generate up to 60kV pulse output voltage without any step- up transformer or pulse forming network, it has advantages of fast rising time, easiness of pulse width variation and rectangular pulse shape. Proposed scheme consists of series connected 9 power stages to generate maximum 60kV output pulse and one series resonant power inverter to charge DC capacitor voltage. Each power stages are configured as 8 series connected power cells and each power cell generates up to 850VDC pulse. Finally pulse output voltage is applied using total 72 series connected IGBTs. To reduce component for gate power supply, a simple and robust gate drive circuit is proposed. For gating signal synchronization, full bridge invertor and pulse transformer generates on-off signals of IGBT gating with gate power simultaneously and it has very good characteristics of short circuit protection.

  • 기존 메모리 반도체에 비교해 빠른 재생속도와 높은 집적도, 비휘발성 등의 특성을 가지는 MRAM (Magnetic Random Access Memory)은 DRAM, flash memory 등을 대체할 수 있는 차세대 기억 소자로서 CoFeB/MgO/CoFeB로 구성된 한 개의 MTJ (Magnetic Tunnel Junction)를 단위 메모리로 사용한다. 이 MTJ 물질들은 고밀도 플라즈마를 이용한 건식 식각공정시 Cl2, BCl3 등과 같은 chlorine 을 포함한 가스를 이용하여 왔으나 식각 후 sidewall에서 발생하는 부식과 식각 선택비 확보의 어려움 등으로 마스크 물질에 제약을 받고 소자 특성이 감소하게 되는 등의 문제가 있다. 따라서 이러한 식각 문제점을 해결하기 위한 대안으로 noncorrosive 가스인 CO/NH3, CH3OH, CH4 등을 이용한 MTJ 식각 연구가 진행되어 오고 있으며 이중 CO/NH3 혼합가스는 부식성이 없고 hard mask와의 높은 선택비를 가지는 기체로 CO gas에 NH3 gas를 첨가하게 되면 etch rate이 증가하는 특성을 보인다. 또한 rf pulse-biased power를 이용하여 이온의 입사를 시간에 따라 제어함으로써 pulse off time 때 etch gas와 MTJ 물질간의 chemical reaction을 향상시킬 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 CO/NH3 혼합가스를 이용하여 다양한 rf pulse-biased power 조건에서 MTJ 물질인 CoFeB, MgO와 hard mask 물질인 W을 식각 한 뒤 식각특성을 분석하였으며 MTJ surface의 chemical binding state, surface roughness 측정을 진행하였다. 식각 샘플의 측정은 Alpha step profiler, XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy), AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy)를 통해 진행되었다. Time-averaged pulse bias에서는 duty ratio가 감소할수록 etch rate의 큰 감소 없이 CoFeB/W, MgO/W 물질의 etch selectivity가 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었으며 pulse off time 구간에서의 chemical reaction 향상으로 인해 식각부산물의 재증착이 감소하고 CoFeB의 surface roughness가 감소하는 것을 확인하였다.

A Study on Destruction Characteristics of BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor) at Different Pulse Repetition Rate (다양한 펄스 반복률에서의 NPN BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor)의 파괴 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper examines the destruction behavior of NPN BJT (bipolar junction transistor) by repetition pulse. The injected pulse has a rise time of 1 ns and the maximum peak voltage of 2 kV. Pulse was injected into the base of transistor. Transistor was destroyed, current flows even when the base power is turned off. Cause the destruction of the transistor is damaged by heat. Breakdown voltage of the transistor is 975 V at single pulse, and repetition pulse is 525~575 V. Pulse repetition rate increases, the DT (destruction threshold) is reduced. Pulse Repetition rate is high, level of transistor destruction is more serious.

Propagation and Crosstalk Characteristic Analysis of Pulse Shaped Signals on the Coupled Microstrip Lines (결합 마이크로스트립 선로상의 펄스형태 신호의 전파 및 누화 특성 해석)

  • The propagation properties of various pulse signal types(square pulse, Gaussian pulse, trapezoid pulse, RF pulse) on coupled microstrip lines are investigated. Numerical integration technique which has its accuracy and is easily simulated, is used to obtain the time domain response of pulse signals. Frequency-dependent characteristics of coupled microstrip line is obtained using Jansen's approximate equation. The propagation properties of pulse signal on coupled microstrip lines is analyzed regarding to its geometric structure (relative permittivity ${varepsilon}_r$ substrate height h, strip width w of the microstrip line) and pulse width ${\tau}$ of signal pulse. The simulation results show that space between two lines is very significant parameter in pulse distortion in comparison of any other parameters. The results of this paper are compatible to the trade-off determination of relative permittivity, substrate height, strip width and pulse width of signal pulse when a design of MIC and MMIC is necessary.
