  • The paper is a study on the biothermoelastic analysis in viscoelastic biological tissues in the presence of thermal relaxation times. Using Laplace transforms and related methodologies, we explore how living tissue responds to an exponentially decaying pulse of heat flux at the boundary. The Laplace transformations are reversed using the numerical method. The Tzuo technique was used to measure the reversal. Temperature, displacement, and stress distributions are affected by single-phase and delay relaxation coefficients as well as volume rheological factors, are provided with numerical findings and graphically depicted. In addition, we carry out a parametric analysis to provide assistance in choosing the design variables that are the most successful, which finally results in an improvement in the accuracy of hyperthermia treatments.

  • In this paper, we propose a broadband TEM horn antenna optimized using a genetic algorithm. The characteristics required for the TEM horn are the broad matching bandwidth from 2 GHz to 10 GHz and high gain in broadside with a small gain deviation within that bandwidth. In addition, a broadband balun is designed to improve the portability and to reduce the total size of the antenna. The measured return loss of the proposed TEM horn with the broadband balun is less than -10 dB(VSWR<2) from 2 GHz to 10 GHz. Compared to a conventional triangular type TEM horn, the proposed antenna shows about 80 % reduced volume and gives the broadside gain about 12 dBi with a gain deviation less than 6 dB from 2 GHz to 10 GHz. The time domain measurement shows less than 0.4 ns group delay and the pulse measurement using the transmitting signal with the rising time of 58.5 ps shows the received pulse with the rising time of 66.5 ps, which is less than 10 % rising time variation.

  • This paper addresses the current measurement issue of all digital field oriented control of ac motors. The p paper focuses on the effect of low-pass filter and also on the sampling of the fundamental component of the m motor current. The low-pass filter, which suppresses the switching noise of the motor current, introduces v variable phase delay according to the current ripple frequency. It is shown that the current sampling error c consists of the fundamental component and high frL'quency ripple components. In this paper, the dependency of t this current sampling e$\pi$or on the reference voltage vector is investigated analytically and a sampling technique i is proposed to minimize the error. The work is based on the three phase symmetry pulse width modulation l inverter driving an induction machine. With this technique, the bandwidth of current regulator can be extended t to the limit given by the switching frequency of the inverter and more precise torque regulation is possible.

  • Ultrasonic thickness measurement is a non-destructive method to measure the local thickness of a solid element, based on the time taken for an ultrasound wave to return to the surface. When an element is very thin, it is difficult to measure thickness with the conventional ultrasonic thickness method. This is because the method measures the time delay by using the peak of a pulse, and the pulses overlap. To solve this problem, we propose a method for measuring thickness by using the power cepstrum and the minimum variance cepstrum. Because the cepstrums processing can divides the ultrasound into an impulse train and transfer function, where the period of the impulse train is the traversal time, the thickness can be measured exactly. To verify the proposed method, we performed experiments with steel and, acrylic plates of variable thickness. The conventional method is not able to estimate the thickness, because of the overlapping pulses. However, the cepstrum ultrasonic signal processing that divides a pulse into an impulse and a transfer function can measure the thickness exactly.

  • The ideal method which measures a blood vessel of senility and degree of arteriosclerosis is to measure compliance of arterial and condition of blood circulation at the periphery. In these days vascular stiffness have been assessed by analyzing PTT (pulse transit time) from ECG and PPG. PTT is that between toe and finger each subject estimated through ECG and PPG signals. Two parameters, which are related to PWV, were tested with the time delay between the finger and toe. PWV is a variation of quantity which is associated with vascular stiffness. These researches which use PTT and PWV don't consider the blood vessel characteristic of an individual. In this current research, we have used with the blood vessel characteristic of an individual. That is an assessment of vascular stiffness using the variation of quantity in PWV with the changes of position in the subject. PWV variation increased as functions of the subject's age. The increase of the PWV variation parameters with age is attributed to the direct decrease of the blood vessel compliance with different position. The quantity of variation estimated by experimental results is that old age's (75.78${\pm}$7.75) case is 113.68% and young age's (26.47${\pm}$2.04) case is 85.69%. We proved and presented about estimation of vascular stiffness of possibility by this result.

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel crowbar circuit for high-speed discharge charge switching to solve discharge charge-time delay of supply voltage in the conventional crowbar circuit. The proposed circuit is designed to increase the charge-speed after high-speed discharge of supply voltage, thereby reducing the time exposed to radiation damage and, the normal operation time of electronic system after passing the pulse radiation. The simulation of the discharge charge-times before the implement of the hardware is conducted using Cadence's pspice tool, and DUT (Device Under Test) board is fabricated in the device level. The comparison measurement of the crowbar circuits is performed on the satellite-electronic device for 24V. As the result, we confirmed the high-speed function of the proposed circuit by improvement of the discharge-speed 96.8% and the charge-speed 27.3% as compared with the conventional circuit.

  • LMC X-4 is an eclipsing high-mass X-ray binary exhibiting a superorbital modulation with a period of ~ 30:5 days. We present a detailed study of the variations of the superorbital modulation period with a time baseline of ~ 18 years. The period determined in the light curve collected by the Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image (MAXI) significantly deviates from that observed by the All Sky Monitor (ASM) onboard the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). Using the data collected by RXTE/ASM, MAXI, and the Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) onboard Swift, we found a significant period derivative, $\dot{P}=(2.08{\pm}0.12){\times}10^{-5}$. Furthermore, the O{C residual shows complex short-term variations indicating that the superorbital modulation of LMC X-4 exhibits complicated unstable behaviors. In addition, we used archive data collected by the Proportional Counter Array (PCA) on RXTE to estimate the orbital and spin parameters. The detected pulse frequencies obtained in small time segments were fitted with a circular orbital Doppler shift model. In addition to orbital parameters and spin frequency for each observation, we found a spin frequency derivative of $\dot{v}=(6.482{\pm}0.011){\times}10^{-13}Hz{\cdot}s^{-1}$. More precise orbital and spin parameters will be evaluated by the pulse arrival time delay technique in the future.

  • In this paper, we propose the result of PSSK(Phase Silence Shift Keying) modulation scheme that is mixed PSK(Phase Shift Keying) modulation and PPM(Pulse Position Modulation) method. The performance of underwater communication systems are influenced underwater channel characteristics. In particular, delay spread can make ISI(Inter Symbol Interference) because of reverberation and multi path. It degrade the performance of the communication system. Also underwater sensor networks consider about power efficient due to the particularities of their operating environment. PSSK modulation method transmit two orthogonal symbol and using silence period in a period so it can reduce the power. Increasing the distance of between modulation symbols, to enhance the performance of BER(Bit Error Rate) as well as to improve power efficient. The result of sea trial, QPSK modulation BER is $3.19{\times}10^{-1}$ and PSSK modulation BER is $2.89{\times}10^{-1}$.

  • Human emotion has been tried to be recognized by physiological measurements in developing emotion machine enabling to understand and react to user's emotion. This study is to find the time-dependent physiological measurements and their variation characteristics for discriminating emotions according to dimensional emotion model. Ten university students were asked to watch sixteen prepared images to evoke different emotions. Their subjective emotions and autonomic nervous responses such as ECG (electrocardiogram), PPG (photoplethysmogram), GSR (Galvanic skin response), RSP (respiration), and SKT(skin temperature) were measured during experiment. And these responses were analyzed into HR(Heart Rate), Respiration Rate, GSR amplitude average, SKT amplitude average, PPG amplitude, and PTT(Pulse Transition Time). TDPs(Time dependent parameters) defined as the delay, the activation, the half recovery and the full recovery of respective physiological signal in this study have been determined and statistically compared between variations from different emotions. The significant tendencies in TDP were shown between emotions. Therefore, TDP may provide useful measurements with emotion recognition.
